I was wondering from which of the many groups of tribes/races people descended.

I for myself am roughly 90% Nethersaxon, with 5% of scandinavian blood and the remaining parts are other European groups, with perhaps the oddball asian thrown in deep into my ancestry.

Hmm, i think i'm a bit of a mongrel, Irish back there 3 generations i think, scottish, french (breton i think?) probably a bit of norse viking type, and judging by my use of swear words lots of Anglo Saxon.

other than that my blood is my own (apart form the four pints loaned to me by the bloodbank).

To be honest, now it's hard to tell. I say that I'm a Slav by virtue of living in middle Europe. But in 21th century God knows what blood does my family have. Say with for example Germans in Germany, as strange as it may sound .

Bretons are Celts, as are Gaels (Scots and Irish), Welsh and whatever people from Cornwall are called. French are a mixture of Romano Celts with Franks, at least most of them.

I myself am a mixture of Bavarian, Southern Slav, Western Slav, Jewish, Romano Celtic and whatnot. Races never existed and never will. And I personally don't care about the tribe my ancestors lived in.

I have 2.39% Engli.... no just kidding. My father is adopted, so no idea. But he is white and went into a strong Irish family with some Scottish leanings. My mother just says 'the English countries in Europe' and won't specify. So really? I have very little idea.

The Celtic language groups, Brythonic and Goidelic are the only surviving groups. Brythonic includes Welsh, Breton, Cornish, Cumbric and Pictish - the last two are extinct though. Goidelic is Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Manx - the latter being close to extinction.

Also, as "Celt" in modern terms is the overall definition for those who speak a Celtic language; that would mean anyone who speaks Welsh, Breton, Cornish, Irish or Scots Gaelic is therefore a "Celt".

On a side note, Welsh, Breton and Cornish are very similar languages.

Probably about 80% Frisian (if they're a seperate tribe, I say yes ), and the rest Scandinavian with a hint of Nethersaxon blood. Yes, tall, broadshouldered and blonde, I could be in the dictionary!

Adopted here, so biologically not much known. From my general appearance, and what I do know about my birth parents, half Italian (most likely northern) and half German/Scottish. I probably have a bunch of Vandal and Visigoth from the Italian. Given how I look, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some Greek, Middle Eastern, or North African as well. For the Scottish and German, who knows? Pict, Viking, Celt, Dane, Slav, Saxon, Hun, Mongol ... could be just about anything. Sometimes I get this funny image in my head of two opposing ancestors of mine shaking fists at each other from either side of Hadrian's Wall. So yeah, I'm potentially just about everything but African, Asian, and Native American.

From my adoptive family, Swabian on my dad's side. On my mom's side, Irish, kind of. The family was originally living in Brittany, but somehow made its way over to Ireland.

Except for my family members who live in Odessa or Warsaw, most of my relatives are from that nasty bit of land that's constantly either Poland, Ukraine, or Russia. They've been moving the borders for the past zillion years and no one knows what goes where anymore. Eventually we gave up trying to figure out what we were and moved to America. "Russified Pole" would probably be the best way to describe me ethnically (*waves at all the other polaks*), but I do have Ukrainian and Russian blood.

My grandparents were all born overseas, coming to America at a young age. My great-grandfather was a Victorian gentleman with a serious decadent streak. He started sleeping with the maid, and when she got pregnant he got married in secret. Eventually he had to flee with his wife and child from to London to America, changing his name on the way to avoid scandal in the New World. He became a carpenter - he worked on the Empire State Building - and somehow managed to amass enough money to build a factory. Then it burnt down and the maid died of consumption. He drank himself to death some time later. My grandfather grew up in an orphanage. Later he met my grandmother, another immigrant. Oddly enough, my paternal grandmother and maternal great-grandmother grew up on the same street in Poland/Russia/Ukraine.

My mother was the daughter of another Slav immigrant and my gram, who is a citizen of Ireland. Weirdly enough, the Irish side was always going back and forth from America and Ireland, and somehow or another I got Lakota blood, because my great-great-grandfather brought an Indian bride back to Ireland. The people on my Irish side, if you go back a few hundred years, become English, and that line's been traced all the way back to the devils. I'm related to John Wilmot (the author of the first piece of printed pornography in the English language), and then further back I'm a direct descendant of the Plantagenets, William the Conquerer, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionhearted, etc. etc.

I wasn't raised by my parents until late in childhood, though, instead, I was brought up by my Russian great-grandmother in Ukraine until she went mad and they had to put her away. I didn't go to America and learn English until later. To be honest I don't really identify as American, despite my family's history in the country - I don't even look American, I look extraordinarily Slavonic despite my Western blood. I'm going to be taking up permanent residence in Russia soon.

Yes the word "Celt" can only be applied to language and culture since the gene pool is so thoroughly mixed up it makes no sense to localise it.

Mostly German (mother's mother, mother's father's father, father's father's father and their ancestors) with some Polish thrown in (father's mother's father) and probably at least one ancestor from everywhere else in Eastern Europe. My mother's father's mother was Scots, randomly enough.

About 1/8 German, I think....some Dutch too. Most of the rest is Welsh and English, with some Scottish and Irish thrown into the mix. And a dash of Iroquois not so far back, just to keep everyone on their toes.

The Welsh, Scot, and German are actually the most prevalent, I think. At least, they're the bits that can still be found in our names...

My mom's parents are blueblood New Englanders whose ancestors founded Beverly, Massachusetts and fought at the battle of Bunker Hill in the Revolution. I guess my great-great grandfather was an abolitionist who on his 15th birthday signed up to fight for the Union in the Civil War. It's pretty cool. But I like hearing about my dad's side, too, who mostly immigrated in the last 100 years. Mom calls him a "mongrel" and says "that's all right, people with more varied genes are better-looking anyway."

I think i have a small amount of Scandinavian. Also, the Italian is a mix of (most likely, based on my skin and hair color) original Italian, African, Middle Eastern, and other Europeans. Not sure what exact mixture, but those are all probably in it.

Mostly Gaelic (pre-Saxon inhabitants of the British Isles, namely Ireland in my case) here, though also Anglo-Saxon and some German.
