Out of Their Element: It Came From the Sky!

Naumer doesn't stop trying to pry the armor off of the captain. He doesn't believe the diplomacy will work anyway.

[Miltonian]

Naumer's power works this time. He blows out the sealed environment of the Captain's armor, creating some large holes in the breastplate. (DR reduced by half.) "Gah!" he shouts and stumbles backwards. "I've had just about enough of you!" His gauntlets charge up and he raises them both above his head. "Have some of this!"

He slams them down and a wave of electricity hits Awek, Tidran, Ruhki, and Vihlu.

All affected targets take 1 damage, penetrating all DR, and must make an HT roll to avoid stun.

With a roar, Awek returns the favor, bringing his hammer down. He swings wide and buries it in the wall instead. Tidran jabs at one of the new holes, but his spearhead is just a little too wide to fit in the one he chose. Ruhki, however, shoves one of her swords rights in and fills the inside with fire for a moment. Smoke leaks out of the holes in the captain's armor, though he doesn't react anymore. He seems to be done talking and settled into grim determination.

Vihlu seizes up as the electricity rolls through her. The pain brings a grimace.

"Very well, then." She says.

The Toa of Water takes a step forward. Matching determination with determination, she drives another blade of water at the invader's broken chestplate.

Arakas takes a gamble, jabbing at the captain's torn armor with a spike of cold energy. She wasn't quite sure of the technique, but it should knock him out if it connected.

Naumer sees the newly created holes and smiles at his handiwork, firing more projectiles at the gaps in the armor.

[Miltonian]

The armor, though battered and increasingly less effective, still holds up to some of the abuse. Arakas' attack goes wide, but Naumer and Vihlu's strike true. Awek and Tidran batter and beat on him, hammering and denting the armor a bit more, deforming it. Ruhki's twin blades catch on the armor, not quite penetrating. She decides to go for a different target next time.

With a roar that is weakening, the captain rips the spikes out of his eyes. Through the shattered visor, a single red orb glares out at them. He can see again.

[Arzanyos]

Seeing the captain regain his sight, Arakas decides to take up a more defensive position, backpedaling rapidly while sending a flurry of shards in the captain's general direction.

Although common sense screams at her to vacate the area, Vihlu stands her ground.

Once again, she conjures a blade of water and attacks. This time however, the target is different. She takes aim at his right knee.

Naumer opens fire on the newly revealed eye with two more air bursts. "Hah! Take this!"

As all the Toa unite in one, last flurry of attacks, the Captain tries to dodge and finds his feet will not move fast enough. They team beats on him, hitting him with strong, repeated blows. Not even his amazing endurance and thick armor can hold up forever. With one last groan, he falls back, unconscious on the ground.

Vihlu steps back and... finds that engaging in calming breathing exercises is no longer an available option to her. Instead, she attempts to relate her emotions through mental discipline and manages to accept the fact that she has survived.

Somehow.

"We should remove his armor before restraining him." Vihlu suggests. "Lest we leave him some potential means of escaping confinement."

"Hah! We won!" Naumer shouts excitedly. "Good idea, I want to get a look at his ugly face!"

[Arzanyos]

Caught up in the rhythm of the fight and the power of toa, Arakas almost has to stop herself from firing another set of shards at the unconscious captain. Instead, she takes a deep breath and a step backwards, steadying herself. She sets to work trying to remove their foe's armor. "We haven't won yet. We still need to find the matoran."

[D.KnightSpider]

"I feel certain that these invaders would consider our faces equally discomfitting. Perhaps we should seek understanding instead of ridicule." Vihlu comments to Naumer.

She moves to assist Arakas' in examining and removing the armor if possible. Given what Arakas saw earlier, she would not be surprised if such a task is beyond their abilities. "And we need to find means of seizing control of this vessel."

[Miltonian]

The armor is warped and bent from the battle, but can possibly still be removed. It will take quite some time and a good amount of skill, though. Time that might be better spent elsewhere.

That said, Ruhki raises one of her swords and it flares to life in a tight, thin beam. “I can cut it off him,” she offers.

“We at least need him incapacitated,” Awek says, “I don’t want him coming up behind us when we’re fighting whatever else this place has in store.”

"They had a storeroom, for their armor. We could throw him in there, and then you could fuse the door to it's frame strong-hard." Naumer suggests excitedly.

[D.KnightSpider]

"Please do." Vihly says to Ruhki.

She contemplates Naumer's suggestion. Then says: "Perhaps we could we secure him in an out-of-the-way location. Between ice, fire and the ability to mold the material of this ship, a suitable prison might be forged?"

[Miltonian]

"Sure thing," Ruhkl says and bends down to start cutting through the locks holding the suit on. "Why don't you go find a place to keep him while I work here?"

"We're not leaving you alone," Awek says, "Tidran and I will stay here. You three...go find a place to stick this guy."

[Arzanyos]

Arakas elects not to use her mask power this time. "Naumer, lead the way. I'm sure you can find your way around an airship better than the rest of us."

[D.KnightSpider]

"Of course." Vihlu says to Awek.

"We'll let you have the lead, Naumer. I trust you shall allow us to keep up?"

She nods to Arakas' plan. "And Arakas, I am glad your aim is true. Blinding the rakghul was most beneficial to our efforts."

[Arzanyos]

"Thank you. I don't know if it helped as much as Naumer breaking its armor, though." Arakas says, shying back a little. "Also, didn't you find it kind of weird that the rakghul pulled out the shards and then could see again?"

[D.KnightSpider]

"Their physiology is significantly different enough from ours that I do not know what to find odd about them. Their weakness to water, for instance, is most unusual from our standpoint but apparently common for them. There is much that we do not know. Too much." Vihlu says.

She stays alert as they wait for Naumer to show them the way.

There's a pause and then she continues. "Arakas, perhaps this is a foolish time to ask so I ask your forbearance. Do you still find it necessary to breathe as a Toa?"

[Arzanyos]

"Umm. I haven't thought to check." Arakas replies, puzzled. Nothing she'd read about Toa noted an ability to survive without breath. Still, she held her breath, seeing what happened. "Yes. I definitely still need to breathe. Do you not?"

"Yeah, I need to breathe too. Otherwise, I could talk even more quick-fast!" Naumer leads the way back towards the area where he found the storage room full of uniforms.

[D.KnightSpider]

Vihlu slowly shakes her head.

"I have determined that I still require oxygen, but I'm not obtaining it via traditional means. I can only assume this... feature, for lack of a better word, exists so that I may travel freely underwater."

Two more steps passed before she observes: "It is an interesting situation that I do not breathe, yet still talk. That is all."

[Arzanyos]

"Huh. All the time, I only thought about how the transformation into Toa allows us to control our elements. I never realized it could makes such changes as that as well." While walking, and pondering her words by herself, a different thought strikes Arakas. "Wait a second. The ship's been moving this whole time, and I'm not optimistic about our chances to be able to fly an alien craft like this. Once we find the matoran, how will we get them home?"

[D.KnightSpider]

Vihlu smiled wanly.

"The time to consider that problem was long ago. At this juncture, I fear our only recourse is to learn to fly this vessel, quickly, before we reach our intended destination. I do not fancy our chances of survival upon arrival."

Beat.

"That rhyme was accidental."

[Miltonian]

The conversation provides a pleasant backdrop to the search, which does not last very long. Between their various abilities, the Toa will be able to convert a lot of places into holding cells. A little alcove about ten meters down will do.

Vihly helps strip the room of any furnishings. She takes care to inspect it for anything that might enable their captive to escape.

[Arzanyos]

Arakas follows Vihlu's lead, clearing out the room, as usual, with her mind already somewhere else. "How do you think we should reinforce this? Or should we just have Awek and Tidran do it once they get here?"
