Default A drow's rivals (minor Out of the Abyss spoilers)

I'm DMing Out of the Abyss, and the PC has managed to talk Sarith into opening up a bit about the murder he was accused of. For those who don't know, the campaign starts in a drow prison, and Sarith, the only drow prisoner, is a warrior accused of a murder he can't remember doing. He suspects that he was drugged, maybe with drow poison, and then framed for the murder, though due to recent events he's suspecting that something more sinister might be going on. The PC asked who would have motive to frame him for murder, and I've promised to provide the player a list for next session.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any good random vendetta generators? What would be fairly typical reasons for another drow to hate a medium-ranking male drow warrior?

Maybe he saw something he shouldn't have, like a drow selling out another House's raiding plans to their next targets via a magic mirror of communication. But they kept him alive because they're not sure if he revealed it to others before getting caught.

    Possible things could be:

    1. Lower ranking drow trying to take his place
    2. High ranked drow trying to keep him from climbing ranks
    3. Rival House trying to weaken his House
    4. Nothing personal against him, he was just a convenient target to pin blame on

A drow male warrior is the next highest rank after a slave. A drow city couldnt care less if one male killed another if there was no eye witnesses. In fact short of an eye witness they probably would be congratulating him on his initiative behind closed doors.

Well, take it up with the writers of Out of the Abyss, I guess.

No, that's perfect to work with.

Many high ranking Drow would be insulted by the fact that there's a male drow with any level of rank. That's why he was pinned for murder: so that he'd earn his "rightful rank" as a traitor to his race.

Insert list of medium-high ranking females in rival clan. Maybe he knows why he was framed, just not by who did it. You don't even have to decide that now; if they decide to pursue it, you can decide which of the "suspects" committed the act later, after providing several clues. I find that, for things like investigations and mysteries, it's better to leave it a big grey blob and come up with the facts later on down the line, since there's no telling what direction your players are going to take, and thinking of every possibility of foreshadowing and plotbreaking is exhausting.
