Duskblade Arcane Channeling Clarification

Do I get to deal damage with the melee attack, as if I used a normal attack?

Also, touch spells Target touch AC normally. Do I have to hit normal AC for the channeled spell to work? What if I beat touch AC, but not full AC?

Yeah, nothing like adding insult to injury -- literally -- when you channel Touch of Idiocy when hitting a caster.
