It's just been a thing in the comic, like V being a vegetarian. Goblins like gouda.
Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Yup, totally going with that. You destroyed a stone golem, then spawned a flesh golem, and defeated that one too. Double xp!

The scouring of the Shire never happened. That's right. After reading books I, II, and III, I stopped reading when the One Ring was thrown into Mount Doom. The story ends there. Nothing worthwhile happened afterwards. Middle-Earth was saved.

Think the first mention of it is from Battle of Azure City, when Elan suggests disguising themselves as cheese merchants (because everyone knows hobgoblin can't resist a fine gouda). Since then it snowballed. I don't think it's a reference to any other d&d campaign setting.

In a very old D&D campaign I played in, gouda was the only cheese that had an alignment. (Yeah, it was that kind of world). And paladin's refused to eat deviled eggs or deviled ham. (Yeah, it was that kind of world). And angelfood cake healed you for 1 HP per slice. (Yeah, it was that kind of world)

So is it a goblin, hobgoblin, or goblinoid thing?
