Re: Pokémon Thread XXIX: Sword, Shield, and Spoilers
Since we already have an allusion to the egg mystery, I'm retracting my suggestion and voting for Skitty and Wailord.
...What's the weirdest two pokemon that are in the same egg group?
Skitty and Wailord are at least both mammals, but my understanding is that it's possible to mate a Zangoose with a Serviper.
That is to say, a snake with a mongoose. A reptile with a mammal. A reptile and a mammal whose species have a mutual loathing.
Either Pokedex entries are bullcrap even when they seem realistic, or Kismesitude is canon to Pokemon.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Define 'weirdest'.
Gardevoir is in the same egg group as Magcargo and Muk. Enjoy those mental images.
In terms of biologic incompatibility, Horsea and Applin. It's a fish and an apple. I don't know how it works.
In terms of established species identity, yeah, can't beat Zangooze and Seviper.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXIX: Sword, Shield, and Spoilers
My understanding is that Applin is actually some kind of wyrm that lives in an apple? I have no idea how Pokemon biology works.
Zangoose and Seviper is probably the weirdest one, though.
Also how is that Ditto can breed with Magnemite, but two Magnemites can't make an egg? How does that work?

Re: Pokémon Thread XXIX: Sword, Shield, and Spoilers
because Magnemite is in the mineral egg group and therefore genderless.
how unlike the undiscovered egg group, all in the mineral egg group can reproduce with a ditto.
Ditto is its own group and cannot breed with itself or undiscovered, but can with everyone else notably.
its probable that Ditto are like cells/bacteria and thus reproduce asexually. how I'm thinking the mineral egg group happens...is that Ditto takes on the shape of the mineral pokemon right? then reproduces asexually while in that form, but the clone in the egg isn't a ditto, but the magnemite. thus variations in genetic structure can occur from ditto mimicking the mineral egg group pokemon imperfectly. of course, a ditto imperfectly mimicking a magnemite being one that is able to reproduce is already an imperfection so....*shrug*
I mean if we were being more logical, the mineral egg group would need parts to build more of their kind, and the Ditto would the source of the parts, able to shape shift parts of their body into permanent parts then regenerate while the other pokemon assembles them. but the egg kind of abstracts that out/goes against it? its weird.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXIX: Sword, Shield, and Spoilers
It's an apple with a wyrm in it that evolves into one of two wyrms using an apple as armor and incorporating apple traits into it's body depending on what kind of apple it was living in.
(It's a pun.)
Horesea and Applin are both (potential)dragons, so it makes sense that they can breed.Last edited by Rater202; 2020-08-23 at 04:59 PM.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXIX: Sword, Shield, and Spoilers
Torchic is in the same group as Wailord as well, if that helps? That gives a size (and cuteness) contrast, a mammal/bird contrast and a fire/water contrast.
Plus, you know, it's a hot chick. Could seem appropriate.Last edited by Lvl 2 Expert; 2020-08-24 at 02:34 AM.
