Problems, (1) Soda has become like unto a refreshing Gods! That presumably makes it immune to mind control.
(2) Soda is not immune to weapon attacks, Belkar would have cut the cup and all the wonderful refreshing soda would have run out.

Other than that, it's pretty well perfect.

I don’t mind if you discuss it, given that I was the one who suggested it, but bear in mind I didn’t propose it in all seriousness. It has three recommendations: 1) it puts “escape” into story context; 2) it doesn’t rule out his father’s having escaped before him, so the SBGH could recognize “it’s one of those” and 3) it proposes a non-D&D creature, which widens the field of inquiry — a possible advantage, as no canonically D&D creature is a perfect fit for all the clues.

The problems are numerous, starting with “The theory doesn’t begin to explain what the creature is, and only vaguely where it is from.” Since we don’t know what the previous universe contained, it’s kind of a non-answer. Further, the MiTD could have been a refugee in that universe as well, so even if we knew what the previous universe contained, it doesn’t narrow down the answer.

Edit - Now is probably a good time to note that I keep a running list of everyone's predictions for what MitD ultimately turns out to be in post... lets guess #7 in these threads, along with the dates for each guess as well as an infrequently updated "leader board" of the most frequently guessed candidates. You can pick up to 3, in ranked order or not, as you prefer.

Also an issue that the flavor text says Galeb Duhr neither sleep nor breath. MitD has been clearly portrayed as sleeping. (Unless he's faking for some reason?)

And that they draw sustenance from contact with the earth... so MitD's taste for stew, tacos and moldy cheeseburgers would have to be explained.

Not to rain on your parade, I just present these as further discrepancies that need to be addressed if this were to be a serious candidate.
