    Checked out UFO.

I love it! I listened to Rock Bottom and then listened to it again because it was so good. Definitely putting that on my list.

Add to original playlist: UFO, Judas Priest, the Doors.

Depending on your age, you may or may not have listened to this.

I find it interesting that Metallica didn't make it onto your original playlist.

I'll step a little further afield here and suggest Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Day's Grace, Pretty Reckless, and Halestorm, to start. You might not like everything you hear, but there are definitely some keepers from all of them.

This thread reminded me of a couple retro-ish style rock and metal bands I hadn't listened to in a couple years. May I recommend Blues Pills and Royal Thunder. I saw Royal Thunder open for Ghost and they were both incredible.

Clearly, judging from the suggestions that you say you've liked, I have to reach into the vaults for something heävier, so

    Alice Cooper, particularly "School's out"

    Jimi Hendrix

Frank Zappa: takes the mickey something chronic, and not that melodic, but can play guitar.

Dolly Parton's "Jolene" (if you think it's sweet, you're missing the point big time).

Tom Jones "Delilah" and the Sensational Alex Harvey's Band cover, and most things by SAHB.

    Early Roxy Music.

Osibisa "Woyaya" (sometimes spelt W(backward 'c')yaya)

    Captain Beefheart.

The end of what Son? The story? There is no end. There's just the point where the storytellers stop talking.

    Or Poison.

...the Alice Cooper song, not the band. Though the band did do a few songs I liked.

    Wagakki band are great.

Babymetal has already been mentioned, so other bands that might be suitable:

Blood Stain Child is a great melodic death metal with electronic/trance influences and their Epsilon album at least is in English.

Doll$boxx is a combination band with Fuki (formerly of powermetal band Lightbringer) and hard rock band Gacharic Spin. Take My Chance is probably their most famous song that did the rounds a few years ago in English circles.

High and Mighty Color were a hard rock band, best known for Ichirin no Hana, used as the opening to the anime Bleach.

Tengger Cavalry are a Mongolian folk death metal band that I quite enjoy, combining metal with traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing.

If you want to go a bit more prog rock instead of classic rock:

Jethro Tull (Aqualung or Thick as a Brick)
Rush (Hemispheres, 2112, A Farewell to Kings)
(Early) Genesis (start with Selling England by the Pound, if you like that, check the rest up to and including The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway)
Bob Dylan (maybe start with early 70 from your other preferences)
Tom Waits (Small Change, The Heart of Saturday Nights, or if you want to go weird Bone Machine or The Black Rider)

I think this for a start based of what you currently like. However, I would strongly recommend listening to music outside your comfort zone. Think on the emotions in the music you like, and search for those in other genres. I moved seamlessly from metal to early hiphop to punk, because the anger in all is similar. And even the cultural commentary that is in folk (Bob Dylan is my favorite musician) is similar to NWA.

Good luck, en enjoy all the great suggestions in the thread
