In the fields

"They are adorable, reminds me of when I first caught Morg." Cordelia stands a few paces back as you go towards the pokemon. "I'll be here if you need me." The two pokemon stop playing as you approach with Easel and look at you wearily. The Lillipup looks to Eevee before slowly approaching. It sniffs your hand and then glances up to Easel before cautiously eating some food. Eevee stays where it is still eyeing you.

Madelyn chuckles as she watches the Eevee look back with suspicion. "What's wrong, are you not hungry? Or is my lunch not good enough for you? Either way your friend here seems to disagree." She smiles at the sight of the dog scarfing down what food it was offered. The artist pulls out an apple from her belongings and bites into the fruit before turning it in her hand and offering a bite to the Eevee.

"So... I don't know if you two have any family, but if you want you could come with us?" Madelyn slowly attempts to pet the Lillipup with a free hand while speaking to the two pokemon. "You'll always have food to eat and I promise there will be plenty of time to play. We'll even travel across Hoenn together and see everything there is to see!"

If either pokemon seems receptive to the idea of coming along then she will remove a pokeball from her bag and tap the respective mammal.

The Final Heroes Arrive

As Birch walks up to the building he steps in front of all of you, standing before the front doors "Well are you all ready to begin your adventure?"

Madelyn doesn't respond verbally, instead opting to nod fervently in affirmation. Her eyes filled with wonder as to what lies just beyond the door to the facility.

In response to Kimiko's tears, Jeremy will reach for her hand and give it a firm grip if willing. Either way, he smiles slightly and says:"Our home is always where we are, together. I'll do everything I can to keep it that way."

When asked what he wants, he pauses to let the others answer after a trademark scowl stretches across his face. "I wish for... answers. To many questions."

The Lillipup looks back at the Eevee tongue hanging out with an excited look on its face. It pushes into your hand as you pet it, tail wagging excitedly. The Eevee gives one more hesitant looks before approaching and taking the apple. It quickly scarfs it down and walks over to Easel playfully headbutting his leg. You tap both pokemon with a pokeball watching the pokemon be energized.

The Adventure Begins! -
"Well looks like we have some eager beginners. At least this will be interesting if nothing else." Says Selina before stepping up next to Ace. Birch looks across the crowd giving a nod of understanding "Alright folks before we enter I ask that none of you touch or mess with any of the ongoing research. You are all welcome to look and ask questions but we need to keep our data as accurate as possible. Please follow me." Entering the facility you see many scientists with pokemon in rooms with what looks like simulated weather effects. Computer screens showing weird graphs and data. Other rooms you can see different chemicals, soils, water, and geodes being mixed or separated.

You can see the computer screens showing many blips that you assume represent pokemon they are tracking. Other screens show current weather maps and predicted weather. Finally you can see that some screens are a bank of data showing the test results from chemicals and how they affected their environmental samples.

You can understand that they are implanting trackers into some pokemon allowing them to follow their movements. Screens showing weather patterns and how different pokemon react to the changes. The scientists testing chemicals are doing so on different soils and geodes as well as water, writing down the effect they have on each sample.

As you walk through the facility Birch explains more about the league. "As you can see here we have many different experiments happening at once all having to deal with pokemon and people. As a trainer you will be exploring the Hoenn region catching pokemon to help you complete the circuit. The Pokedex that you will be given is not only for you to be more prepared in what you are encountering but also sends us data on what pokemon was encountered and where the pokemon was found. Many wild pokemon have been tagged to allow us to see their natural migration and what habitats they prefer. Once a pokemon is caught, if they were tagged the device immediately stops working so our data isn't affected. You need to make sure to register any pokemon you catch with your Pokedex, this is a rule for any pokemon you wish to use in the league."

You finally reach a room where a long table sits with many sizable bags and a line of Pokedexes that lay atop of it. Birch turns to the group motioning to the table. "You each will be given some equipment to help you start your journey as well as a Pokedex. I see that all of you already have some pokemon, so be sure to register them to your pokedex." He takes a Pokedex out of his coat opening it up. "Your Pokedex is not only an information device but also your Trainer ID. With this you will be able to see all the pokemon you have captured or seen in the past, it will show what badges you have acquired over your journey, and will also act as a pass to use the Pokecenter's hostel and other services." He closes the Pokedex. "So with that all out of the way, are there any questions?"

He gives a big smile. "Then let's get started!" One at a time you all come forward and he gives you a bag and a Pokedex, which he shows you how to set up and walks you through how to register a pokemon to your ID. "With that all completed I welcome you all to the Hoenn circuit and wish you the best of luck!" You all are escorted back outside where you all once were earlier this morning.

Cassius begins walking towards the route to Oldale immediately after exiting the facility. Selina turns to the group of you "I see that some of you are new to being a trainer or Hoenn so I'll give you some tips. The first gym you'll probably pass is in Petalburg which is west of Oldale, but he is said to be a challenging opponent to beginners. While that's not going to stop me there is also a gym in Rustboro which is a little further past Petalburg." She places her hands on her hips and continues with a half smile "Unless any of you want to tag along with me, see ya til we meet again." River will speak up "There is also a gym in Mauville which is a little east of Oldale but Wattson is said to be a really tough opponent." Cordelia looks to Madelyne "What do you think Maddie. Wanna head out with some of these people. I know that there is a contest coming up in Verdanturf. Which is not to far from Rustboro, but i'm here to help with what ever decision you make."

The world is now open to you, what would you like to do?

Ace's eyes glaze over as the group walks past all the techy techy sciency stuff, He shakes himself back into focus when Professor Birch ('the labcoat') starts talking about league stuff and registering pokemon he'd like to use in the league. He files it all away and quickly registers his pokemon once the professor shows him how.

When entering his tepig's nickname, Ace is extra careful to spell ENDEAVOR in all capital letters.

Once escorted back outside, Ace will walk several paces away from the cluster of trainers and squint up at the sun before turning back to his cousins and listening to the other trainers state their opinions before hitting the trail. After Selina says her bit, Ace squats down on his haunches and pushes his hat back "I ain't got one opinion over another. I reckon we oughta pick something we know we can take on the first try so we ain't wastin time."

He purses his lips and then looks toward the coast. "Or... we could take a gander down by the beach and see what we can see... and catch." He says smiling wide.

Kim was fascinated with what she saw. Pokemon tracking, how their migratory patterns react to changing weather. She fixated for a bit as she watched another group testing some kind of solutions on geodes, the sparkling rocks distracting her a bit before she remembered what the Professor said. Best to follow his instructions and not make him or her father angry.

Kim was fiddling with the necklace that her father had given her, fingers tracing over the shapes and details while listening to Professor Birch. Upon receiving her Pokedex, she checked all of its functions, looking to the Professor, "Does it have a map? Does it have communication features?" she asked curiously, wondering if she would be able to use it to phone home once in a while, or if she would have to wait until reaching a Pokemon Center before doing so. She also wasted no time registering her pokemon, an image of a Kangaskhan appearing on the screen as she registered Helena, and then a Slakoth as it was Norm's turn.

After being escorted out, she heard Selina telling the group about where they might want to go. She recognized Petalburg by name from rainy nights watching gym challenges on the TV with the family, and she was more than excited to start there. She bounced up and down, turning to Jeremy and Edward, "Let's go to Petalburg! If the gym seems too much of a challenge, then we can always continue forward to Rustboro!" she said excitedly before hopping and skipping forward, not even waiting for a response from the two. While she would miss home, she had been ready for this since her father said that it was something she and others in the household should do. She heads North from Littleroot towards Oldale, more than eager to push forward past her homesickness, and catch her first pokemon all on her own!

Julius checks out the blinking screens but cant make sense of them while moving with the rest of the group to collect the starting equipment and register all his Pokémon. Once outside. He listens to Selina's spiel about where to start and Ace's response. "Ain't wasting time? Where's your sense of adventure, cousin?" He says goading Ace. "If you could beat it easy you ain't gettin' any stronger. I say we go to Petalburg. We can catch and train on the way. and besides, we can always go to Rustboro if the Petalburg gym is a problem. What do you think, Jo?" He asks, eyes insistent she play along. "Hey Cassius, Hold on dude! We can travel together if you want. No need to go it alone." Julius says hoisting his bag up on his shoulder. "This is the type of thing that better as a group!"

As they make way to the facility....

Ed nods at Jeremy's answer, quickly remembering he only really talks to Kim in general.

In the facility....

Ed walks past the screens without much concern, just opting to listen to Birch's explanation.

He had his hand on the charm that Simon gave him and kept close to Kim and Jeremy, since he was prone to getting lost. As he took a hold of the bag given to him and the Pokedex, he watched as Kim registered her Pokémon, making sure he had it right the first time. He took extra care to register Shusui and Kitetsu, noticing Shusui's adornment wrapping around his arm. "Easy little guy, you can go all out in a few minutes."

When they are all outside....
He listened while most everyone said their piece and quickly turned to focus on Kim. "Petalburg City.... Yeah from what we saw he could be pretty tough but we'll give it a shot." Ed had to start running after her just to respond. Ed would yell back to everyone trying to keep up, "Guess most of us are going the same way, see you later!"

He keeps an eye out for any new Pokémon that him and his sibling's could capture.

Joanna nods along as the Professor explains what happens in the lab. It sounded a lot like what her parents did with the Rangers in Alomesa when they weren't dealing with rogue, rampaging pokemon. She eagerly takes the Pokedex when offered it and registers both of her birds once she's able.

Once they're outside, she listens to both of her cousins' opinions and then looks at the backs of the other trainers that had already decided their path. "As much as I would love a quick trip to the beach, I think Jules is right. Let's head to Petalburg and try to find some new Pokemon along the way."

She releases Shrike and Talon once they're out on the road and sends the Skarmory up into the sky with a sharp whistle, while Talon takes his place on her shoulder.

Jeremy seems uninterested in the bells and whistles in the lab, his eyes hidden by his mirrored glasses and his mouth in a slight scowl. He will make a point to not register his pokemon immediately.

Later, outside:
Jeremy will nod as Kim skips forward, quietly moving forward with his eyes scanning the crowds. He will also keep his eyes open during his travels, looking for any additions for his roster, or for any rare pokemon he could spot. His familiarity to the area seemed to be to his advantage...

Maddy's eyes go wide as she enters the research facility along with the rest of the circuit trainers. "I never would've imagined that a lab like this exists in a small town like Littleroot..." She says in a low whisper to no one in particular as she scribbles a few quick sketches of the experiments in her book.

She will graciously accept the equipment provided to her and thank the Pokemon Professor for his generosity. "While I don't necessarily have any question now, is it possible that I could contact you in the future were I to have any questions then? And if possible how should I go about it?", she asks.

With assistance Madelyn registers her current roster of pokemon and takes her place beside Cordelia while she waits for everyone in the group to complete the same process.

"Well after hearing what everyone's had to say I think I want to try my luck in Rustboro! I'm still a novice in regards to being a Trainer so it might not be a bad idea to stop there. I see no reason why we shouldn't follow everyone to Petalburg too, especially if it's along the way. I'd also love to see you perform in another contest if I had the opportunity too!"

Once Cordelia is ready Madelyn will leave Littleroot heading towards Oldale alongside her and the rest of the group. She keeps her eyes open not only for pokemon but anything of interest in the surrounding area to capture an image of.

You see Cordelia's hands covering her face in suspense. "Congrats Maddie on your first catch!" She yells in excitement and rushes over giving you a hug. "I was so scared that the Eevee would just run away."

"Does it have a map? Does it have communication features?"

"It does have a map, but it doesn't have any communication features. The map can show you the overview of the Hoenn region and you can zoom in enough to isolate the route or town you are in. However it doesn't show many features of your surrounding area."

"While I don't necessarily have any question now, is it possible that I could contact you in the future were I to have any questions then? And if possible how should I go about it?"

"You all are welcome to contact me using the video phones. Most can be found in the Pokemon Center. Though don't be deterred if I don't answer the first call, I tend to get lost in my research." He says embarrassed.

Route 101 -

Julius' words fade to the wind as he calls out to Cassius. Unsure if Cassius just didn't hear you or chose to ignore your call, he disappears into the town. After the discussions are finished Ryley jumps ahead of the group with an excited smile on his face. "This is great! I never expected to be traveling with so many people!" Your contingent makes their way out of Littleroot and back onto route 101. The midday sun is high in the sky unobscured by any clouds. The grasslands are lively with noise of wildlife as you walk along the trail. As you walk you can see Selina searching through the pokedex muttering to herself ""If this is what im fighting.......So maybe this?............So that's where they're found........." Ryley is happily walking alongside his sister humming to himself though his eyes are looking everywhere and at anything interesting.

Walking along the trail your ears catch the sound of a distant roar. Looking out into the distance you see a large bulky pokemon covered in rocky plates pinning a small yellow pokemon with black stripes.

You see in a patch of trees a small chipmunk pokemon with red and yellow eyes piling up a collection of berries. In the tree above you can see a small fluffy pink pokemon lick its lips before dropping down on the food scaring the rodent.

Right next to the path you see a large bush that on closer inspection look like a heap of vines. An orange canine with black stripes, oblivious to the bush walks by and you see some of the vines creep towards it.

Your eyes see a small mammal with brown fur and a mane of white fluffy fur foraging in the tall grass. A large red dragonfly swoops down from the sky and picks up the mammal holding it tight as it struggles in the bugs tight grasp.

You see a two headed bird pecking through the tall grass when it jumps back and you hear a cry. A small blue bulb looks angrily at the bird.

Your ears catch the sound of a pokemon crying out in pain. Turning towards the sound you see a blue and black feline pinning a blue and black bug with yellow stripes across its chest. You see the feline bite down on the bug once more causing the pokemon to cry out in pain.

Your eyes catch the movement of a pokemon zigging through the tall grass. It stops and you focus seeing a small mammal with brown and white striped fur staring down an oblivious brown beaver.

The sun starts to set as you reach the edge of the forest leading to Oldale. The sky is clear of any clouds so you assume you are safe from rain this night. Ryley points out an area near a cluster of trees where he plans on camping for the night. "That area seems good. Doesn't seem like there is much underbrush and the ground is cleared. It should be big enough for us all to camp down for the night."

He sets down his pack and wanders a little ways into the woods with Jack, the Aipom who travels with him. After a few minutes the two come back carrying bundles of fire wood, which Ryley uses to start a fire. River sits down and releases a yellow lizard like pokemon with black paws and long extensions come from its head. The pokemon does a few circles around River and you can see sparks arcing between them. Selina sets down her bag as well taking out a few pokeballs "I'll be right back, just want to go into the forest for a bit."

Kim would hear Selina muttering to herself, poking and prodding her Pokedex. She was happy to be traveling with such a large group, but she was ludicrously curious as to what she was mumbling to herself about. She hopped over next to Selina, "Hi there, I'm Kim!" she said rather abruptly, "What'cha doin'?" she asked as she shot a glance at Selina's pokedex with her mismatched eyes.

Upon seeing the larger pokemon bullying the smaller pokemon, Kim huffed and stamped on the ground. She dislodged a pokeball from her belt and released Norm, the Slakoth. He slowly would turn his gaze to his trainer, looking for instructions, "Steady boy. Let's try this first!" she said before pulling out a fresh Pokeball from her bag and tossing it straight at the plated pokemon, watching it strike the rocky flank and energize.

Kimiko would turn her attention to the other pokemon, "Go on Norm, it's nap time for that yellow one!" she instructed. Norm's gaze slowly fixated on the yellow pokemon before yawning nice and wide, making the other pokemon drowsy.

Kimiko would stomp her foot, "Stay in the ball!" she demanded. Clearly this is her first capture, and she's still quite new at all this, "Norm, yawn at the big one!" she instructed. Norm's gaze would slowly fixate and he would Yawn at the big plated pokemon who was bullying the smaller yellow one.

Upon hearing Ryley's suggestion, Kim would turn to Jeremy and Edward, "Let's camp with him tonight. Seems that it will be easier than trying to make camp for ourselves this time!" she said with a rather giddy tone to her voice, clearly excited for her first day out on the road. Upon seeing Selina gathering some pokeballs and pointing her self towards the Forest, Kim would pipe up, "Mind some company?"

2 For One Special...

Ace smiles and reaches for Endeavor's pokeball, but reconsiders and selects his new cotton ball as he advances on the black and blue tussle. He releases the small puffball and whispers to it. "I'm gonna try and nab that bug while it's still awake, I want you to soften up the cat, aright? Be careful not to hit the bug, he's been roughed up enough."

confident that the Cottonee can handle it's instructions, Ace hops forward two steps and winds up and rockets his first pokeball into the stricken bug. Not waiting to see if the ball clicks shut, he whistles at the cat. "Yo, I like your style, but your fight's with me now."

His cottonee bounces forward before unleashing it's attack on the cat, placing itself between its new trainer and this challenger.

The cutlass unhooks itself from Ed's waist and floats beside him, ready to strike when his trainer tells him. Ed however lobs a ball at the pink fluff as it falls.

Vengeance looks at the 2 furry pokemons and pins his ears back as rumbles a low growl. "Easy boy. Let's try to catch the oblivious one first if the other wants to pick a fight We'll be sure to give him one." Julius pulls a new ball from the bag. take aim and lobs a ball to bop the bidoof on its head.

Kimiko loosed another pokeball, it sailing just past the Elekid and a large marsupial standing in its path, bellowing loudly. Kimiko made an attempt at throwing another Pokeball straight towards the Elekid, but it seemed to fall quite short. "Don't let it get away, Helena!" she instructed her Kangaskhan. Helena would bellow, though still a juvenile, she stood around four feet tall, shot a rather nasty look towards the Elekid.

"That's not how this works!" Ace calls out to the fleeing bug as he pulls Brand's pokeball from his belt and conjures an orb of flame in his free hand.

Ace looses the tiny fire lizard and points at the Volbeat. "Brand, shoot it down!" Trusting Brand to succeed, and trusting his puff ball to stay the heck out of the way, Ace pivots and lobs the wisp of flame at the feline.

Brand eyes the fleeing bug before unleashing a blurt of flame that careens into the wings of the fleeing pokemon.

Kim casually walked up to the fast asleep Elekid before taking out another ball from her bag and tapping it on the Pokemon, dropping it immediately as soon as it energized. She learned that from her father, Simon. Drop a ball that has a freshly captured pokemon. You don't want it bursting out and injuring your hand.

You see a two headed bird pecking through the tall grass when it jumps back and you hear a cry. A small blue bulb looks angrily at the bird.

"Oh... I wonder what that those two go into?" Madelyn quietly asks herself. She will draw closer and activate her Pokedex to register the two Pokemon while observing from a safe distance.

At Night

The sun starts to set as you reach the edge of the forest leading to Oldale. The sky is clear of any clouds so you assume you are safe from rain this night. Ryley points out an area near a cluster of trees where he plans on camping for the night. "That area seems good. Doesn't seem like there is much underbrush and the ground is cleared. It should be big enough for us all to camp down for the night."

He sets down his pack and wanders a little ways into the woods with Jack, the Aipom who travels with him. After a few minutes the two come back carrying bundles of fire wood, which Ryley uses to start a fire. River sits down and releases a yellow lizard like pokemon with black paws and long extensions come from its head. The pokemon does a few circles around River and you can see sparks arcing between them. Selina sets down her bag as well taking out a few pokeballs "I'll be right back, just want to go into the forest for a bit."

"I don't see any reason why we shouldn't set up camp with the others?" Madelyn asks Cordelia, looking for reassurance.

Should the two decide to camp with the rest Madelyn will set up her sleeping gear before settling in near the fire. She withdraws her sketchbook from her bag and begins working on two sketches of Ryley and River respectively. River and her yellow lizard's electric display catch her attention in particular.

"So... are you two relatively new pokemon trainers as well?", she asks over the top of her sketchbook.

Ed smirks as the rat goes through Shusui, and speaks out. “Yeah little guy that won’t work so well on him. But you have some guts!”

Ed pelts the rat with a ball.

Eventually he turns to the girl with the sketch book and then the guy who asked his cousins’ opinions.

“Whatcha drawin’ there if you don’t mind me asking?” Shusui’s blue adornment on the other side of Ed’s head acting like a separate head. "And this mischievous guy is Shusui." The adornment waves.

To the other guy,
“So what brings y’all here?” Shusui continues to act as the adornment is another head on Ed.

The Helioptile jumps into River's lap and curls up. "Yeah we are. Ryley and I always listened to stories from traveling trainers and we decided that's what we wanted to do." She pets the lizard snoozing in her lap "This is Flash by the way, we came across him on one of our trips near Mt. Chimney. When I first encountered him we just kinda sparked ya know." She hold up her fingers watching a few arcs of electricity bounce between them. "What about you? What got you wanting to travel?"

Seeing her Rufflet lulled to sleep by the powder, Joanna lets out a sharp whistle. Her Skarmory wheels down from the air at the sound and attacks the tangle of vines with her beak and claws.
