Are Skullcandy products prone to breaking?
The headphones I got as a gift about a month ago just snapped in two. The expander piece (don't know what it's actually called) snapped at the base and the left earpiece is now hanging by the cord.
I'm gonna send in for a replacement when I can, but I'm wondering if in the future I should avoid all Skullcandy products.
If this replacement pair breaks just as easily, should I just seek another brand? Which would be a good one to look into? Durable and inexpensive, with comparable sound quality?

Re: Are Skullcandy products prone to breaking?
I would suggest you find a site like Amazon that probably has several hundred ratings and a few dozen reviews on your actual product model. Here you might be lucky to get a dozen experiences. You need to look at large numbers of input, and you will only get that on a site that does reviews and sells the product(s) you are interested in.
As for future products, I start with 'Top X' lists from various websites and then look at the ratings and reviews on the selling websites.

I have had no problems with them. They seem quite popular choices as well.

The Skullcandy Hesh headphones - I think that's what they're called are crazy durable. I've owned them for something like two and a half years, and they're surprisingly durable for the price point. They won't compare to higher-end headphones, but they also don't really require a lot of attention.

Re: Are Skullcandy products prone to breaking?
Personally, I find most big-name brand headphones to be fragile. I'm using a pair of headphones made by Bauhn (not sure how high-end) and they've lasted over 6 years with no problems. The secret is that the cord has an audio jack at both ends, so the wire pops out if disturbed instead of getting frayed by excessive force. It's pretty sweet imo.
Sometimes, I have strong opinions on seemingly inconsequential matters.
