    Default Odd Question (Google Chrome)

I am currently plagued by a problem.

Everytime I open Chrome, I get a pop up in the corner of my display with click on ads. They range from "Update drivers," to "Your protection has expired."

They all at the bottom say: "Google Chrome • simpleeasyway.top"

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this? I tried searching for it, but search results come back with things that are completely unrelated, or to 'malware removal tools' I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Appears to be a virus, so I'd do a full system scan with your anti-virus--you do have one of those installed, right?

I do. I updated the definitions, but it still comes back nothing. Which is why I turned to google. But, alas, nothing.

    It's not exactly a virus, it's ad-ware/malware, I'd say.

Probably got some extension or something installed to Chrome.

Have a go downlaoding Spybot search and destroy (wha tI used to use, there may be better software nowadays). It looks for those types of things that aren't viruses per se and might not be covered by anti-virus.

Quick goolging game me these e.g.:

I had something like this happen as well ... Chrome has a neat feature to "restore to factory default" ... which is useful to removing /clearing out this kind of crud that finds it's way in ..
(for me, I accidentally clicked on an additional installer when installing another app ... O.o need to pay attention .. hehe)

    anyway ...

try that ... and in addition, some kind of virus scanner, etc, generally doesn't hurt .. ;)

    Good luck.

If you do need to restore to default, it's generally a good idea to have written down what your preferred mods are. I will never touch a WIN10 computer without lobotomizing Cortana instantly.
