Eh, that's cliché. And also tends to evoke much more... harsh responses. People get so worked up over media these days. "I've seen this movie, you're a robot with glowing red eyes, that means you're evil and/or malfunctioning!" Really, blue's the ideal 'good guy' colour, but pink's much more aesthetically pleasing.

I can neither confirm nor deny any such things. All I'll say is that light has a strange tendency to appear round when emanating from small objects and/or a great distance. So you can prove nothing.

*her half-eye. The other was just plain blue, IIRC, which just added to the weirdness.

And if we're doing the "I'm self-conscious about my own eyes", I wish my eyes were a clearer green, because on a bad day they're barely indistinguishable from grey. The little golden rings help bring some depth and lustre to it, though, even if you have to look closely to see them directly, so I'm usually not dissatisfied with what genetics gave me.

Went out hiking with 30 other people last weekend. It was very fun, and I acquired very (un-)sexy bruises on my hips from not having learned that your backpack shouldn't weight 20 kg (but I'm to proud to admit that it was too heavy).

However, once I got home, I think my body decided it had enough of my new and exciting ways of maltreating it on top of the old and well-tested ones, so it served me a really insidious cold in response. It's just light enough that I'm constantly worried I'm just simulating, and have to force myself through a full breakfast before I feel certain enough to call in sick. Today was actually a bit of relief, because I woke up and could immediately tell as soon as I got on my legs that I wasn't well, but that also means that I'm worse off today than yesterday, and a cold shouldn't do that to you.

My brain feels like a computer that goes to sleep every 5 minutes, even if you jiggle the mouse. I keep stopping in the middle of what I'm doing to stare into nothingness.

Kid I'm babysitting is having a "I just wanna play by myself" day.

    Hallelujah.

(she did sing the Pippi Långstrump theme song for an hour straight, with a couple of very brash "NNNOOOO!" and "GGRAAAHHH!" shouts in the middle that cracked me up downstairs)

I think we can firmly say that both versions of what you call America Day have Excess Baggage that makes your nationalistic pride a little... squiggly, and I've never really been hot on it. Not saying that ours isn't like that either, we're better in some respects but that's a low bar.
