Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
Yeah! I still lack the subcutaneous fat to maintain my body temperature, though, even if my vulnerability to the cold isn't as bad as it used to be.

Mosquitoes work in mysterious ways. We had dinner outside, and I'd prepared myself by rubbing my legs with insect repellent. Yet a majority of my mosquito bites are on my ankles, and not on my unprotected arms. Sure, I had an easier time protecting my arms, and I was moving them idly when eating, but I wasn't really paying a lot of attention to them.
Oh well, if they get too annoying before bed, I'll just walk into the lake and let the cold numb the itches.Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

I bit my tongue real bad and my head is splitting so today's off to a miserable day. I'm otherwise fine though so it kinda sucks.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
A lot of theaters will close out selling tickets to a movie 15 minutes after the listed showtime. Doors usually lock 15 minutes after the listed showtime for the last show of the night. They do this to minimize disruptions caused by people coming in while the movie is playing. It still stinks for the person coming late, of course.
That said, I've seen managers (who should be on the floor around this time to close out the box) let people in if the late people buy concessions. They're totally not supposed to do stuff like that, but sometimes do. I wouldn't advise anyone to bank on that though.Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Could, sure. Should? Maybe that theater has a policy of ten minutes instead of fifteen. It's very possible they literally could not have sold you a ticket. Total jerk move to not open the door as they saw you walking up and say it, though. Massive jerk move. Even moreso on a weekday.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
If it's empty, they ain't showing it. Might be different now that they've automated everything and ditched projectionists, but when I worked the booth if I thought a screen was empty at showtime I'd call down and verify ticket sales. Like you said, no point wasting energy.
That said, you're preaching to the choir; I was always willing to help people out if they were within a minute or two of locking the doors. Coming in literally as they were getting locked? Easy pass, no question.Last edited by Peelee; 2019-07-26 at 03:11 PM.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
I think the issue is that the owner of our local theater is a right ole piece of work. Gets super pissy if anyone stays past credits.
It's like, I get it. You gotta clean up. But I wanna watch the credits. I legit like doing it. And the MCU stuff has made doing so a kind of trend anyway, so deal with it.
But yeah, you were doing a good thing, to do that. I salute you.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
For reals though, yeah that guy's a jerk. I can understand checks after the show's dropped, but they paid for a ticket, they can watch it until it drops. Especially on movies known for scenes during or after the credits. That was the theater policy where I worked. Unless you see people banging, you let 'em watch til it's over.Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
This isn't particularly new, but I'd like to mention (out of nowhere) that I have one of the weirdest hardware failures you could possibly get.
The keycap for my laptop spacebar was too flexible, and pressing the side of it would just make it bend, with no effect on the sensor. PRessing directly above the sensor was fine, because the sensor itself works perfectly, but I had a problem with one of my keycaps.
You wouldn't even expect that to be possible, would you?
I use braces (also known as "curly brackets") to indicate sarcasm. If there are none present, I probably believe what I am saying; should it turn out to be inaccurate trivia, please tell me rather than trying to play along with an apparent joke I don't know I'm making.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
Weekend, get the off-duty cop theaters hire for security to handle it. Weekday, radio down to get someone to call the police and let them handle it.
Way back when I was a simple usher and was just tired I went into clean an auditorium, saw a couple going at it but facing the back of the room so they didn't see me. Went back to the doors, flicked the main lights on, and stayed to do an exit greeting because even a tired Peelee won't pass up an opportunity like that. Only waited about 10-20 seconds.
Projection was really fun, honestly. Tons of free time to fill however you wanted, but if something went wrong you damn well better know how to fix it. Fun times.Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
On any other key but the spacebar, you'd be right. The spacebar usually has a single button in the middle and extra spring supports either side to ensure the whole thing goes down when you press anywhere on it--if one of those supports breaks then you get exactly the effect you described, because pressing on the broken side causes the spacebar to rotate around its middle rather than press down.

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
Hey everyone. On Thursday I went to perform at my job talent show. I did a comedy skit which I did three jokes. I even said a disclaimer before my performance when I mention that my jokes don't have suicides or other dark and inappropriate jokes. There were giving out prizes for the winner but as usual, I didn't win but I didn't care as long as I have fun.

It's awesome that you had fun with it! One thing to keep in mind for the future, if your skit does not touch on controversial topics, you don't really need a disclaimer beforehand. I only say this because that might improve the flow of your performance next time. What was the talent that won?

Re: Not-So-Mith'd Opportunity: Random Banter # 222
The reason why I brought this up because at the last talent show there was a client who made a comedy skit of suicide and he was wearing a scary clown mask on. Everybody was very disturbed by his performance. Also, I ask the person who was in charge of the summer talent show to see if my jokes were approved and she approved. The talent that was won was three singers and one dancer and they all have the gift cards.
