ElGato Help
So, I'm trying to record myself play some Nintendo Switch games.
Unfortunately, for some reason, the ElGato software doesn't like my laptop's microphone. It won't record any of my audio when I play the games-other programs record my audio fine, but not ElGato. My friend does have a wired mic that might work, but he's not sure where it is, and I've already borrowed the ElGato off him, so I don't want to put pressure on him or anything.
Has anyone had this issue, or does anyone know how to fix it?
For reference, I've got an Alienware laptop with an integrated microphone. (I know, probably not enough to go on-but I can find more information about my hardware as needed. Just not sure where to look and what I need to provide.)I have a LOT of Homebrew!

Re: ElGato Help
Could try OBS Studio for the recording and integrating the mic into it, and just use the Elgato for the capture. It's free, and pretty easy to use if you aren't trying to set up the kinds of overlays you'd use for streaming.
I have my own TV show featuring local musicians performing live. YouTube page with full episodes and outtake clips here.
I also have another YouTube page with local live music clips I've filmed on my own.
Then there is my gaming YouTube page with Kerbal Space Program, Minecraft, and others.
Finally, I stream on Twitch, mostly Kerbal Space Program and Minecraft.

Seconding OBS. Elgato's own software just doesn't compare to it.

Re: ElGato Help
You're using the Elgato hardware (skipping the software) to get your Switch output onto the computer. You install OBS on your computer, set video input in OBS to the elgato device, add the mic, set it to record rather than stream, and then just play your Switch normally.
