"Four sep-ret ruums then? 'L be fourty units lad." The ewe turned and pulled four keys from four boxes. Each key was engraved with a number. "'L there be anythn else ah can do fer yeh?"

Reginald took his key. "I just need to bath. Some loser dumped an entire beer on me. Such a waste." His deep voice bellowed.

[Wolfykins]

Ina waited on the roof for Burt to return to help with the quill bear. She kept an eye on the surrounding area while she waited, quietly observing.

Burt pays and passes out keys before heading out to help with the quill bear

[Wolfykins]

Ina saw Burt emerge and hopped to the edge of the roof.
"Hmm..." she eyed the surrounding space, uncertain of whether she would have space to spread her wings and take off if she went down to street level. So she gripped the edge of the roof with her talons and used her beak to help guide herself over the edge so that she hung upside down so that Burt could reach the harness.

Burt stiffled a laugh at how ina looked.

"-snort- Alright great thunderbird, what do I need to do?"

There was no sarcasm in his voice, rather a respectful tone with a question.

[Wolfykins]

"Well, it might be hard to work the clasps while upside-down. But if you grab the harness and hold tight, I can pull myself back up on the roof and you can strap in when I'm right-side up," Ina mused.
"For the quill bear, you'll need a knife and some way to either store or cook the meat so it lasts longer."

[Darius Vibrtrar]

Burt smiled, but was able to prevent himself from laughing.

"Alright.. I have a knife.... and.... I can get some salt from inside... how much salt would we need to preserve the meat?"

[Wolfykins]

"Uhh... well... I'm not sure, honestly. A little goes a long way if you're careful and thorough with it. A quarter pound of salt can coat twelve pounds of meat. Of course, if it's really bloody, it takes more because the salt gets absorbed or rinsed off by the blood."
Ina blinked at Burt.
"Hang on, wait, I just had a realization. If we have to stay in town overnight anyway, and plan to buy vegetables in the morning, then maybe it would be better to sell the meat to this inn you're staying in and use the money to buy more stuff for our new friends. Like seeds. Like wheat and corn. And, oh, perhaps strawberries and tomatoes, since those can be grown as houseplants any time of the year. That might serve them better than meat. And I can always hunt more if it's an issue. Especially if we get close enough to the ocean. I am much better at fishing," Ina admitted.

Burts eyebrows raise.

"-snort- that's a good idea, I'll ask if they are interested."

Burt goes back inside to speak with the woman from before.

"Miss, would your establishment be interested In quillbear meat? We gave more than enough and would like to sell it to someone who will use it"

[STDM Grizzly Ad]

"Eh quillbeyr ye say laddie? Haerd to come by tha' is, ye muust be quite the 'unter. Ahd be up fer a wee bit a dealin'. Wha'de ye have in mind?" The ewe Mintauran answered.

[Darius Vibrtrar]

Burt smiled to the lady.

"Well... we have it freshly killed outside right now, we could sell it in that condition to you. say... 100 credits?"

he smiled a bit more.

"Or we could skin and prep it for you, and bring it around to your cooks, for 150 credits."

[STDM Grizzly Ad]

"Ah think that a fair bargain lad. A'undred units. Bring it aruund to the right, wuud ye? Cookie will take it frum there." She indicates the right side of the building.

[Darius Vibrtrar]

Burt nods and heads outside.

"Alright Ina, bring the quillbear around to the side here, they are gonna give us 100 credits for it, and well use that to get supplies, seeds and stuff, I have some additional funds from tonight that I can put toward that. Do you need to eat?"

[Wolfykins]

"Why do you think I said I saved some meat?" Ina said, making a chortling sound, her cheek feathers fluffing out in amusement. "I ate my fill of it. I saved the haunches and shoulders, because those are nice, large chunks of meat that others can make use of. I gain the most benefit from the offal," she explained.
The thunderbird lifted off into the sky and flew back to the tree where she'd left the remains.
She landed awkwardly in the tree and took a moment to sort herself out.
(Assuming the carcass is still there and there are no issues) She took hold of the corpse with her beak and one foot and made a clumsy takeoff. She let go with her beak and grabbed with her other foot once she was in the air.
The giant bird flew back to the inn, dropping the carcass on the road in front of Burt before landing on the roof.
"I would suggest you pull out a few of the nicer quills before turning the rest over to the innkeep. They would make nice weapons, I think."

Burt removes a few quills before taking the rest of the creature out back to the appropriate door and knocks.

[STDM Grizzly Ad]

The door creaks open to reveal a heavily wrinkled tortoise man in a dirty apron. "Eh, whatsî thisî now sîonny?" Short sharp whistles follow the s sounds in his speech giving him a comic accent but the expression on his face is of weariness.

There are two human women outside, one is carrying a shoulder yoke with a bucket of steaming hot water on each side. The other is carrying an assortment of towels, soaps and oils.

Bert smiled to the tortoise.

"Hello there, pretty lady out front said youd like to buy some Quillbear meat"

He hefts up the carcass.

[STDM Grizzly Ad]

For one who appeared feeble, the tortoise quite easily gets the roughly 400lb carcass across his shoulders. "hWell if Bonnie sîaid shîed buy it from ya then shîe'll handle the exchîange of units. I jusît do the work. Are you sîtaying with usî? I could sîalt this hide for ya, make it keep till you get it to the tanner tammora."

"yea, Im burt"

He pulls out the room key to show him.

"Thank you for the work mate."

Burt gives a thankful nod and heads back around front. smiling to Ina.

"Im gonna head toward bed. Roost Well Ina."

[EdgeGrinder]

Reginald opened the door. "Ah my bath! You can set it down over there! Ah my favorite oil! Thank you very much!" Reginald delighted.

The women give one another a puzzled look and then do as they were asked. They curtsey politely before leaving Reginald to his own privacies.

Everyone eventually makes their way to their rooms, with exception of Ina, perched on the roof. The night brings welcome rest as the day's long haul was exhausting.

The first breaks of daylight creep through your windows and the smell of fresh breads baking wafts up from below. It is a new day, and all seems at peace.

The pig-taur wakes up and gathers his belongings before heading down to the bar, looking for breakfast.

"What's on the menu? -snort-"

He asks anyone who is downstairs

The young woman behind the bar begins to answer without looking up from her work apparently cleaning a spill. "We have eggs and salt-pork, scrapple an.." she glanced up, noticing her newest customer and blushed deeply. "Sincerest apologies. We have a lovely porridge with apples, browned hash, fruit pies, or perhaps you would prefer bread and honey?"

[EdgeGrinder]

"I'll have the porriage and apples please." Reginald called put from behind Burt.

He sat down next to the pigtaur. "How are you doing, this morning?"

[Darius Vibrtrar]

"-Snort- All of that sounds great, ill take it all"

He smiled to the woman before turning to his new mate.

"slept like a piglet, after a day of good labor, thats always the case with me. "

After breakfast Bert goes to get some seeds to take back to the Taurans.

Bert was able to use the proceeds from the bear meat to purchase 1800lbs of various grains and seeds and met up with the party for the return trip. The large Mintauran took turns pulling the wagon and made it safely down the mountain. It nearly got away from them once, but Reginald grabbed it from the back and dug his heels in, keeping it from tumbling over the edge of a steep bank. When you reach the bridge Ina flies to the place where the camp was but finds no sign of anyone. Even the pit where the fire had been was so well covered that it would have been missed if she didn't know exactly where to look. Disheartened, she flew back.

You arrive at the edge of town.

[Wolfykins]

"Unsurprisingly, they've moved camp," Ina told the group. "We'll have to try and track them down. I did tell them to head towards the coast, so if they listened, that would be the direction they headed. They likely won't be moving terribly fast, but the supply wagon is going to slow us down. We could try finding a shop that sells magic bags, and hope we can afford them, or we could just keep on with the wagon and try to track them down. Or we could go in search of an ideal valley where we want them to settle and start setting up camp there and then go find them and lead them there," Ina suggested.
"Unless someone else has a better idea?"

Bert nods to Ina.

"Then lets head to the coast..."

Bert looks to the Town.

"... What does everyone think about the bag?"

"Magic bags sound good to me." Reginald said.
