Apparently the word for female dog that everyone considers a cuss is not being caught by the censors anymore. Weird.

Water can totally get above 100°C. You can recreate this yourself at home, even! I'd recommend against it unless you know the proper safety precautions to take, though, as it becomes a bit explodey.

If you want to experiment at home, much better to chill water below 0° C. Significantly safer, and a nicer, non-explode effect.

That has nothing to do with temperatures

Also if we're talking space stuff, the Canadian Arms are the most important piece of technology to ever be created with regards to space, so you can catch a big double deuce from space from those bad boys if you think walking on a discarded chunk of Earth is all that special.

Anyway, yesterday I found out that Fullmetal Alchemist is available in really nice hardback editions, each about half as long again as the paperback versions. They don't have the 4-koma or the additional chapters, but if those are all collected in an additional book then the included sketches and colour pages make up for it.

I've also got a friend who's continually trying to convince me that I'll get a date if I use Tinder. Despite the fact that I don't get aby matches on it (or OkCupid* these days, for that matter).

I eat things without onions. It's not that hard. I could give you a list, it's mostly things that can have onions but don't because I don't like them.

FMA is the best. A hard back version of the whole series would rule to have. Oh speaking of manga, Blue gave me his personal copy of the Azumanga Daioh omnibus and it's probably the most thoughtful, heartfelt gift I've ever received from someone to the degree that I'm pretty sure my heart almost burst.

I'm starting to be of the opinion that dating sites are just awful and it's better to meet people other ways. This opinion was arrived at through no real process or evidence and has been countermanded by the personal experiences of tons of folks I know but I'm stickin' with it.

I can give the objectively best advice for dating: go with what works. If dating sites work for you, that's your best bet. If they don't, ditch 'em. Everyone's different, if there were one surefire method it'd be one of the best known methods in the world.

For me, my issue is with raw-ish onions and tomatoes. Tomato soup? Onion soup? All that good cooked stuff to dilute the taste? I'm very fine with that. I just... cannot stomach them raw. Especially not tomatoes.

In other news: Bleeeegh, it's been perpetually raining here for several days now, and on-and-off for the better part of, like, a month and a half. I just want dry. And to not have squelchy feet because my path to walk from my house every day is soaked. And next to a road where large trucks drive by at high speeds.

Cooked onions are basically flavorless, raw onions are very strong and few people really enjoy that.

It is raining here too, I'm pretty sick of it. I want some sunshine!

for those that may not know, higher pressure water then standard barometric pressure require a higher boiling point. a good example of this is a pressure cooker or liquefied, pressurized gasses.

likewise, if at a high altitude/ lower barometric pressure requires a lower boiling point, which is why you must boil something longer at high altitudes to get the same effect as sea level at 30 inches of Hg. A good example of this is that all fluids, including blood and the fluid in eyes, will instantly boil in the vacuum of outer space [ick!].

While completely true, I'm talking about STP. Grab some distilled water and have fun with temperature. To superheat, pop it in the microwave. To supercool, throw it in the freezer.

Spoiler: Supercooling it is WAY cooler
    Show

That's not even going into how boiling water thrown into frigid air will instantly form into snow (for this one as well, don't try this at home unless you know what you're doing), or how hotter water will freeze faster than colder water, or that water gets less dense as it freezes instead of more dense.

    Water is weird.

I'm inclined to think the awfulness is not inherent to the sites, but to the people. And not universally so, as attested by the many successful relationships born out of them, but the impression I get is it's pretty much just luck of the draw as to whether you get interesting people or creeps.

I rather like Bumble, because I don't have to get rejected or ignored constantly. That cuts out the worst part of online dating, trying to get someone to read my messages.

That's not even going into how boiling water thrown into frigid air will instantly form into snow (for this one as well, don't try this at home unless you know what you're doing), or how hotter water will freeze faster than colder water, or that water gets less dense as it freezes instead of more dense.

    Water is weird.
Of course supercooling it is cooler! It can't have been hotter! No, I will not apologize for that pun.
Also, Happy Reptile Awareness day! You don't need to like reptiles, you just need to be aware of them. They're showoffs that way.
