    Default Flash

The current season is making a big to do about Crisis on Infinite Earths, which is fine, but I’m more relieved they they stopped their old tropes. They don’t lose every episode. There is a Big Bad, but not everything is about him. Barry keeps his shirt on, true he had kept it on since The Thinker second episode of season. Flash even wins against a female villain instead of needing Killer Frost or Iris to do it.

As for Ralph Dibney, I like what they’re doing. Being unfamiliar with the comic I thought they were trying out an Elongated Man/Killer Frost romance. I have since learned in the comics he has a wife, and they’re setting it up here. Still, it’s nice they give a strong showing of friendship with Killer Frost. Ralph is the comic relief, but they’ve long since stopped making him the butt of the joke. The James Bond episode was amusing, and I liked the lesson of reminding Barry being Barry Allen is just as important as being Flash.

    What?

How can you have a CW show where the protagonist keeps their shirt on?

This is like only half a joke, it's so ingrained in the CW aesthetic at this point that it actually sounds WRONG when you say that.

On a serious note of the subject over a year ago a few fans criticized Grant Gustin for not being buff. Good for him he did not remain quiet about it insisting his body type is perfectly fine. It is. Stephen Amell can give the eye candy, but men can be affected by image problems too. They can become obsessed with getting muscular, and even when they are it's not enough. It can lead to steroid abuse and synthetics.

It's also like...why does he need to be "buff" for his role? Fit, sure, but he clearly has a good runner's/dancer's physique which is perfect for the Flash.

Meta-show: Tom Cavanaugh has always been a regular star of the show. They use the doppelganger angle of parallel Earths as the excuse to keep him around after the surprise twist of the first season. Zoom was the fake Jay Garrik Cavanaugh is/was Reverse Flash.

In-show: It was established in the season finale of the first season that Reverse Flash has been battling Flash for awhile. He gets paradoxed out. When Reverse Flash returns in the second season we're starting to see all the battles Reverse Flash already had by the time he mentioned it in the first season finale before the paradox. While not quite the River Song/Doctor Who timey whimey it is similar.

He's contractually obligated to do the opposite of what Barry does, I think...
