I'm pretty sure Rich said somewhere that this prophecy was more of a promise to the reader that no matter how bleak things looked, there would be an ending and it would be a happy one. This particular prophecy isn't twisted.
I lack our resident banana's experience though and I can't seem to find the quote.

I never realized it until re-reading Blood Runs in the Family, but then it struck me:

Nale assembled the Linear Guild based on the Vector Legion, or more accurately on his father's wrapped-by-sociopathy-and-megalomania, innacurate perception of the Legion.

Also explaining why his choice of Cleric was of a faith with a commendment to kill Undead, with a Domain opposing lawful Clerics.

That would be neato, because I've wondered in the past if Elan's question and answer weren't there mostly to keep us from dooming over Belkar's question and answer. Can you imagine 15 years of arguments over whether there's going to be a TPK?

IIRC it's in the book commentary (that's why Coppercloud can't find it in the index)1. Should be No Cure for the Paladin Blues? I'm at the airport at the moment so can't check to confirm. But yes, you hit the nail on the head and were completely correct.

Minrah says "and" twice in a row while she's telling Redcloak how he's a big phony in this comic.

Edit: Panel 11, when Redcloak is on the ground after getting pummelled.

I think that could have been on purpose by Rich; Minrah isn’t a great speaker and she doesn’t have Improved Combat Banter like Roy does.

A subtle error that isn't recreated in any of the rest of her speech to date? Unlikely that was intentional.

I think it would make sense for it to be intentional if it included an ellipses or maybe just a comma.

It took me about 5 readings of that comic to find the "and and", with me specifically looking for it.

What?! Gryphons were done more than a tad dirty in D&D, but both of their components are already apex predators, and even when reduced to being melee brutes (as they were in the game), given that they bite harder than a lion with those beaks, given their freaking 80' fly speed, the eagle half contributes at least as much to the mix as the lion half, even after accounting for Pounce.

Both components of Owlbear are also apex predators. Really, of all people to not give birdies their fair due, I'm surprised to see it coming from you.

With owls it's kinda arguable. Most species are just good at avoiding bigger predators, normally. There's a reaon why asshat human hunters (who should have been kicked in the face (repeatedly)) used to (and could) use owls as live bait.

(Interestingly enough, something similar (and even more clear-cut) is true for certain kinds of bear as well: the sloth bear is not an uncommon prey item for tigers, but BIRDIES never enter that mix, so I'm more meh on the whole thing.)

Imean, sure, other animals can eat owls. But you have, just as a quick and dirty example, jaguars, anacondas, and caimans, how are all apex predators which pretty much have each other as their natural predators. Kind of an apex predator triumvirate.

I suppose one could argue on the semantics of what "apex predator" means, but even then, owls are, if not the actual tip, still at the top of the pyramid. (Cats also pretty much tend to stay at the top as well, which is one reason among many i enjoy the feline persuasion. To have one as a pet who will never use its considerable capacity for violence against you, and instead just snuggle and be happy? That, my friend, is power properly befitting a dragon).

They are not exactly in the same boat as those three, but yes, they have a comfortable perch, and that's some consolation to me. As for sloth bears, on the other hand… Let's just say they aren't really major predators of anything vertebrate, least of all tigers.

Well, sure, but the predatory lacking of sloth bears are kind of offset by drop bears. If we want the average out bears, at least.

Realization: We actually know why Roy had Delay Poison and Shillelagh oil on hand: The gender-changing belt incident. Those two would have solved that situation perfectly: Delay Poison would, obviously, have allowed him to keep Elan alive. And with that time, he could have used the Shillelagh oil to convert that mop into a +1 Huge Quarterstaff with which he could easily fight his way out. Presumably, he wanted to be prepared in case.

And since it was an Elan-adjacent thing, ultimately, his mind just decided to let go of the memory in the intervening time! (But seriously, I'd go farther than danielxcutter here and call that just pure genius. Nice find.)

Or he's had these items since before the incident and the joke is that he didn't actually have to go through with the belt thing except he forgot some of his abilities.
