Helanda is surprised by this proposal. She looks at Lizuga and then back at Krusk. "But we don't have her. They know we have a fake one, that was reported by Sallmothan to us, and, I'm sure, to them. The best we can hope for is if they start to ask questions and maybe send someone to check, but I doubt even that. They have been warned."

    Lizuga Manescu

"Fine. Let's get ready to fight the rest. Bunch up here at the door and take advantage. We will take them alive". Lizuga hefts her hammer. "Sarenrae guide our weapons", she adds, mostly to comfort their new allies. "You two, pull your strikes a bit, but not too much. Friends, your weapons are blessed".

Lizuga takes position near the secret door. When she hears enemies approaching, a quick prayer adds 15 temp HP to allies for 1 minute. Armaments of the Empire stance adds Merciful (+1d6 damage, all non-lethal) to Rakieth's and Iris' bows, her own hammer and Krusk's sword

You drag the sorceress where you could see her, gather around the secret door and make it open. It opens taking some short time. You see a mostly empty octagonal room with some artifical illumination and one narrow door leading to another, larger, room, maybe also octagonal, you are not sure, with a spiral staircase around a thick column leading up. The entrance to that second room is guarded by four steel-clad gray maidens, one of which seems to be better equipped than the others. The last thing you notice before the narrow door slams shut is two gray maidens in quirasses aborting donning some periphery steel parts in the barracks beyond...

Lizuga and Krusk bash the door. It sort of resists the abuse. The first pair of hits makes a hole in it, through which some of those beyond can be barely targeted. But it takes two more hits (and one miss) to get the door finally out of the way. The opposition there does not charge or anything, but the time it takes you is enough for partially armored gals to arrive from the barracks and finish getting positioned, sort of.

    Spoiler

Okay, there is a hole in the door after round 1 of bashing. If you keep bashing, it's extended some on round 2 (but Krusk hits exactly the hole, so no damage from him). And then on round 3 Lizuga finally breaks the door fully open and, in fact, in two halves (one no longer attached to the wall). Sorry to have resolved it that way without consulting you, but I've felt the duty to get the things moving.

Those with spells and ranged abilities can attack through the hole (the targets beyond have cover) at least two times: once on round 1 (not Iris here, she can choose to trigger or not to trigger the spell), and once on round 2. I will let Iris decide if her readied action triggers (they still are attempting no counterattacks as of round 3, but they have been visible).

Krusk moves through the bashed down door and swings the falchion at two gray maidens in front of him, including what seems to be their commander. They seem to have been ready to defend themselves from the attack and manage to avoid the worst case, though both still are hit. Then the commander says "Move!" without specifying how and where to move and raises her sword to attack. The same moment Iris casts her spell and the commander freezes, paralyzed. The troops move, though. Two gray maidens to your right move past Krusk to block the doorway behind him. The rest advance taking their place to have Krusk completely surrounded. Then they all concentrate their efforts on hacking him down from all sides, ignoring the rest of your lot as much as they can. The four gray maidens on your side all seem unsure what to do - of course, they can rush in to fight, but they don't want to hinder your efforts.

The following opponents have been hit for 12 nonlethal damage: EJ15, EL14
The following opponents have provoked AoOs from Krusk (and nobody else) in the following order: EL15, EL14

Attacks from EM14 and EM15 will come with both cover and flanking. You can avoid cover by standing directly in front of the door, but only one person can do that. Attacks from EN14, EN15 are fine.

Instead of recovering maneuvers like a standard stalker, a vigilante must open his mind to the flow of battle and the inherent patterns therein as a full-round action. When he does so, he recovers a number of expended maneuvers equal to his vigilante initiation modifier (minimum 2), gains a +4 insight bonus to his AC for one round and can move up to to his speed during the action, provoking attacks of opportunity as normal. In addition, the next attack he makes this encounter adds his sneak attack damage if it hits, regardless of whether or not the target his flanked or flat-footed. Alternately, the vigilante can center his awareness and recover a single maneuver as a standard action.

Rakieth knocks out two nearest gray maidens, opening for Krusk a route for retreat. Krusk whacks the paralyzed leader and makes his way back not to be surrounded again just as Lizuga's blow glances off some gray maidens' breastplates. Iris shoots at the same well-wounded target and manages to knock the gray maiden leader out with her second arrow. The rest seem to be totally undeterred. One of them performs a rather strange maneuver, walking from EK16 to EL14 and then attempts to trip Krusk. She fails miserably, falling prone herself. Another one executes a well-made trip against Krusk and steps from EK14 to EK13. The others close in, filling all space around Krusk and attack him with swords.

    Spoiler
    Show
Cover and Attacks of Opportunity: You can’t execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with cover relative to you.
So, no AoOs for Lizuga, but two for Krusk: one for the movement and one for the trip. She was rather expecting he cannot do both. Then another AoO for another trip by another gal. The others may provoke more AoOs as they close in, compare the map differences for 4th+ AoO.

    Trip: (1d20+6)[7] vs CMD
Trip: (1d20+6)[21] vs CMD - does this trip?

Longsword (1d20+4)[5] (aid another with cover vs DC 10 from EK16)

Longsword (1d20+7)[26] for (1d8+5)[13] confirm (1d20+7)[19] for (1d8+5)[10] (power attack from new EL14)

The original EL14 is the only one in full armor. She falls prone from the trip even if she survises two AoOs, so I take a bit of a stretch here and let another gray maiden move there without determining which it is, so there might be two of them in EL14: one prone and one not.

Gray Maiden EL14 (first) takes 18+13 as she moves in position and tries to trip. She's knocked out.
Gray Maiden EK14 (now EK13) takes 16 hit points and barely avoids falling flat (I guess she should have, but hey, I've already drawn her there).
Gray Maiden EK15 takes 13 and fails to connect her attack.
Gray Maiden EK14 takes 16 damage and has her attack negated by Sanguine Barrier.
Gray Maiden EL14 (second) takes 14 damage and hits Krusk for 13 damage.
Gray Maidens EJ14 and EK16 are the only ones still unharmed.

Iris shoots at EK15 and EK14, two woundad Gray Maidens out of Rakieth's immediate reach. She deals them 16 and 16 damage, taking out only the second one.
    Rakieth misses EL14.

To sum it up (only 5 of them left standing, all are effectively in breastplate armor):
    EK13 16 dmg
    EJ14 unhurt
    EL14 14 dmg
    EK15 29 dmg
    EK16 unhurt

    => Krusk and Lizuga

Krusk strikes out with his sword many times as the maidens rush in farther, dealing many blows as they open themselves up to counter-attacks, and deflecting what seemed like one shot that was sure to connect, but he can't block everything and takes one good hit. "I think I have their attention now" he laughs grimly as he attacks more, trying to open up room for someone else to make it into the room.

Krusk easily knocks one Gray Maiden out with such a blow to the head that even with the nonlethal magic at work you still are not sure if that's safe for her. The other gal attacked easily blocks and Lizuga does not knock out any more of them, but she does improve Krusk's health condition. The maidens that remain seem undeterred by the odds they are facing and most of them keep swinging at Krusk, with varying effect...
