R2T16: Drina allows the lights to dance overhead as she fires another round of silvery force missiles at the creature, slamming into its semi-vaporous nature for what should have been 9 force, and it really seemed like it was hurt for a split second, but something happened in that split second and it no longer seems to have been wounded by the magic at all!

R2T13: The air spirit moves so quickly that it completely disappears from view, having zoomed out of sight to the west, faster than eye or foot could possibly carry.

R2T11: Tenzei, your body fights a significant battle to keep some outside force from acting upon it. You are sure that you just barely managed to keep from being affected.

R2T8: Tenzei shakes his head viciously. "Qi Zhong, do you favor me?" he asks before casting his spell, and in answer a surge of strength crawls up his limbs.

R2T7: Darkhelm is still for a second or two before pointing to the branch above and gives a telepathic alert, <"There, on the branch above. An atomie - a minuscule type of fey - is hiding!">

Darkhelm pulls down a ball of ash from the ash-and-ember sky that she had formed, and a ball of this material thumps into something on the branch above for 3 fire, and a tiny voice cries out in shock and pain 10' above.

R2T6: Arthog delays, awaiting orders.

R3T27: Now that Darkhelm painted a target, Lady Argentea moves out a little from the overhanging tree and gives a war cry and tossing her javelin well off target.

R3T26: Ten-Penny chucks another mote of flame that seems to catch the tiny (technically, "diminutive") creature for 7 fire, as it seems to really hate that type of attack, singeing it well.

R3T16: Drina, what do you do? You vaguely see something not even a foot tall on the branch above, its shadow from your dancing lights larger than the creature itself.

R3T16: Drina lifts her hands above her head, pointing her fingers at the fey creature with her thumb tips touching and voices arcane intonations. A fan of kaleidoscopic colors jets forth from her fingers and palm, washing over the atomie on the branch above in a psychedelic display, but the fey resists the emanation.

R3T13: Something zooms in quickly and thumps a limb at Gingey - impacting, but not hard enough to do damage. Moorgram swings at it, but it is gone again, zooming out into the darkness.

R3T11: The atomie takes out a small vial of something and throws it at Ten-Penny. The vial smashes easily on the ground, and though Ten-Penny is missed, there is a pulse of chill that does 1 cold to Drina, Darkhelm, Ten-Penny, and Arthog.

R3T10: Gingey goes into total defense.

R4T16: Having tested the fey's will and found it strong, Drina reverts to tossing up two bolts that strike for 7 force.

R4T14-13: At the last minute, Moorgram sees the snow kick up from the air spirit's incredible flight and tags it for 14! It is such a powerful blow that it knocks the air elemental off course to miss Gingey, but it is more than acrobatic enough to not deal with that axe again as it zig-zags away into the darkness.

R4T11: The fey, using the branch as cover from any possible high reach, withdraws out of sight and into the darkness.

R5T14-10: Moorgram smirks a little and continues his watch for foes. And good thing, too, because this damned air elemental has the stubbornness of an earthie as it just keeps going for Gingey for some inexplicable reason. It's actually a ball of flaming ash that misses the elemental that alerts Moorgram. As the snow puffs up and steams behind it as it comes closer, Moorgram cuts it in twain, and the elemental spirit's existence is erased from this world. Gingey is cautious, and maintains its focus on its own defense.

R8T11-9: There is a whistling sound heard ... and Gingey explodes in now inanimate gingerbread goo ..... destroyed. There is a flurry of activity as soon as that happens. Lady Argentea throws a javelin to the north, almost into complete darkness which elicits a cry of pain. Drina's spell goes off as two bolts of force zip off into the farthest dim reaches of her dancing lights, bringing forth sounds of tiny impact and more pain. Drina's nose is bleeding from nearly complete expulsion of all mana after a long day.

R8T8: Tenzei, you barely see something to the north of you, and are pretty sure that Lady Argentea was more lucky than good. It is hovering 5' off the ground. What do you do?

R8T8: As the hazy thing drifts lower to the ground Tenzei can't help but feel like its taunting him. So tired that even the thought of charging doesn't cross his mind let alone would the ability to move his legs fast enough to actually take the action be within his current ability. Thus ,it is less of a charge and more of a tired shuffle that Tenzei makes toward the wispy thing. A desire to see better manifesting in a will-o'-wisp like flickering illumination from his prayer beads.

R9T14: Moorgram's eyes widen at the sight of his friend and companion being unmade. With a roar of rage, Moorgram trudges through the snow, shouldering his way past Darkhelm and up to the small creature with axe in hand and malice in his eyes.

R9T11: The little fey seems to concentrate on something and then tries to fly within Moorgram's reach while holding magical energy on its outstretched hand. But Moorgram's rage only gives him focus and he strikes the atomie for 10 mod, knocking it out of the air and into the snow.

R9T10: Lady Argentea picks up her shortspear from her pile and looks around, staying by the Drina to protect her.

R9T9: Drina, exhausted and out of spells, is only too happy to stay behind under the aegis of the noblewoman.

Moorgram only just makes it into the ring when the blackened tree trunk shifts form into a large, ice-blue-colored giant with an oversized nose, warty skin, and gangly limbs. It is easily 9' tall and likely a quarter ton of gnarled muscle carrying a stout boar spear. He gives a great and terrifying shout, but Moorgram keeps his nerve.

R1T27: "Ambush!" calls out Lady Argenta from the back. "Two fey back here. I know not what type, but I have no cold iron weapon or magic."

Lady Argentea rides, pushing past her comrades, to get into the portal-ring for better visibility and does a brilliant fast-dismount to interpose herself between the monster and Moorgram. As she looks up at it she calls out, "Moss troll!"

She then fixes her sights upon it. "You creature! Are you the captain of our troubles? If so, then surrender this folly and you may yet lives this day."

R1T24: Ten-Penny spins around and moves into the blast of snow while taking out her hand crossbow and shoots at something. "Arthog, come!"

R1T10: Moorgram looks at the troll thing. "Sleep," he commands (without effect), and begins to work his way around the portal hoping to help the lady face off against it from another side, finding that the windblown snow is hard packed and easy to walk upon, but still grainy enough not to be slippery.

R1T9: The troll shrugs his shoulders and speaks in an unknown language: <„Ich kenne kein Pinkskin-Quieken. Aber du verstehst meine Gewalt!“>

His boar spear gets past her shield, but not her leathers, and with fetid breath he gnashes at her with a bite.

R2T27: Lady Argentea seems to understand the troll's speech as much as she does his, but she understood his attack clearly. "Very well, then. To you I commit all my strength," she says while setting up some type of fighting style and stepping forward. But instead of attacking right away, she gives inspiring commands to Moorgram and even Drina (though she can't see where she is right now). Moorgram and Drina both find that their heart is stirred with this woman's bravery.

R2T10: "For Gingey!" Moorgram cries as he charges into the fray, swinging his great axe with all his might and hoping to fell the troll in the name of his lost companion. As he closes, he get clipped in the side of the stomach with that spear for 8, but his own axe bites deeply into the troll's upper left arm for 20.

R2T9: Moorgram now has the troll's attention and it attacks the big man, but Moorgram's spinning haft blocks spear and tooth.

R3T22: Drina steps back, watching the troll for signs of life and ready to burn it again. After a second, she summons Alexandru. "Watch this dead troll from over there," she says, pointing to a hump of snow he can hide in at the edge of the stomped-down area. "I'm going to see if our friends need help!"

She heads to the far edge of the portal ring, enjoying briefly the tamped down snow before she will head back into blustering winds blowing snow and the deep drifts.

R3T21: Alexandru scampers to a spot to hide.

R3T18-16: Another flash of lighting screened by the whiteout, followed by angry bear growls.

R3T10: Moorgram lets out a roar raises his axe and brings it down on the troll-thing's neck, hoping to sever the head and claim it as a trophy. His axe comes down and hews well into the troll's thick neck. Arterial spray and venal release go everywhere ... covering Moorgram with gore and discoloring the snow and area around, and even some spattering getting on Lady Argentea. The arterial spray - while gruesome - begins to slowly abate in its weird pumping way until it is no more. However, Moorgram is not a trained headsman, so as horrific and deep the cut, he did not behead the troll.

R3T7-5: Battle rages farther out in the wintry mix.

R4T27: Lady Argentea stops her oration and turns away, telling her horse to stay as she heads out into the fray beyond the portal ring. She gets past Drina, who can barely see her now, and Lady Argentea turns back to shout something at Drina.

R4T22: Drina stops, realizing that it will take too long to help her friends this way. Pulling a bit of shaggy horse hair from her pouch, she speaks the words to call her horse back into being while she lets the hairs fall from her fingers a little at a time. She straddles the animal as it solidifies and lightly kicks its sides while directing it toward Lady Argentea. She only moves a few feet before she sees Ten-Penny in the bluster, looking loopy but still standing. Ten-Penny's hand crossbow is in the snow.

R4T18-13: South of Drina, there is a burst of lightning and a high-pitched, shrill cry of pain ... followed by Arthog attacking something ...followed by Tenzei shouting a kiai.

R4T10: Moorgram glances to the thick storm outside, though the portal fills his gaze. They are not his friends, Gingey was his friend, they can handle whatever lies out there. He gazes at the portal a moment in thought. He raises his axe and brings it down once again, creating more of a mess. This time, there is no arterial spray, but a big splash of blood and viscera flinging from the still body. "Gingey will be avenged."

R4T7-5: High-pitched sounds of exertion, barely heard by only Drina (not Moorgram). Meanwhile, Ten-Penny seems to regain her senses.

R5T27: Lady Argentea gives a mighty battle cry that heartens everyone in the clump (so not Moorgram). Drina barely sees her attacking with her spear slightly upwards at something to the lady's SE.

R5T24: Ten-Penny shakes her head, squints, and shoots at something slightly above and to the south and a small cry of pain.

R5T22: Drina squeezes her knees, using one hand to send her horse to the southeast until she can see what the other two women are targeting, but has to pass Ten-Penny, Arthog, deal with an igloo as she does so. She sees a lone sprite as she moves, but she has to wait until she is south of Arthog before she quickly releases two bolts of force from her pointed fingers at her foe to strike the sprite for 8 force. As she does, she notes another sprite fallen in the snow, unmoving.

R5T18: Darkhelm uses her lightning lash and whips the last remaining foe - the sprite that Drina just struck - for 14 electricity, cutting the sprite in half along the lower rib line.

R5T16: Arthog savages the other sprite.

Begin Round One ...

R1T25: Something small .. not even a foot tall ... zooms past Moorgram's head from west to east before turning sharply north. There is a thrumming noise in the air - not terribly loud - but similar to a dragonfly, as compared to the buzzing of a bee. The tiny creature is flying right over the surface of the snow when it pipes up in a small voice some incantation, runes floating in the air as a line of magical green energy shoots forth to strike the oversized insect in the forward lower right leg for 5 acid.

R1T24: Windrunner hasn't even had a chance to take stock of any aspect of its self, form, or sense of awareness when he is guided confidently into forward motion by his beloved rider. Though he senses that she could guide him to strike and pass, her trajectory on this is to directly intervene. The only thing that kept this from being a charge rather than an intercept is that Windrunner - who still doesn't quite get their changed legs - has to go through heavy snowdrifts.

R1T23: The meal has come to the Big Bug. It claws at Lady Argentea, but she directly blocks it with her shield. It then tries to claw Windrunner, but her brilliant handling of her mouth nopes that attack as well.

R1T21: A unicorn that is in the party's presence starts to have a cool, blue light emanating from its horn before it moves forward at INCREDIBLE speed over the snow to loop up and around and then down to engage the Big Bug from the north.

R1T19: Darkhelm scurries through the snow as far as she can, getting right up to Moorgram.

R1T7: Moorgram, you suffer/enjoy a strange surge of information in your mind, though you can't quite make sense of why your mind is so alive now. Still, that's less important right now than the battle. What do you do? You are holding a torch in your off-hand, and your axe is stowed.

R1T7: Moorgram advances towards the creature, drawing one of his smaller axes and throwing it at the large bug, completely missing.

End Round One, Begin Round 2 ...

R2T25: The little fey creature darts down behind the winged monster that Lady Argentea now seems to ride. The little creature uses their bulk, movement, and kicking up of snow to hide.

R2T24: Since a few seconds ago, Lady Argentea is as before ... a barrage of various tactical recommendations and hints for the party. Meanwhile, she brilliantly guides Windrunner with her knees while maintaining her saddle with ease during battle. Now, she calls even louder, giving inspiring commands to all those who would join in battle with her, and increasing their bravery and ferocity in doing so!

Windrunner, the lady is focusing on making everyone else better rather than taking the glory. What do you do?

R2T24: As Windrunner follows Lady Argentea's guidance, he lashes out at the giant bug with both forefeet and tries to savage it with his teeth. But instead of hooves, he sees talons. And instead of his muzzle, a beak! Before he can consider what this means, though, Argentea's knees give him another command which he follows without question. The first attack tries to smash at the too-protected neck joint, but still does 6; the other claw hits a shoulder joint on its thorax for 8; but the bite follows and plunges right deeper into the same wound for 21. The beast is still standing.

R2T23: Enraged, the Big Bug attacks Windrunner. Its first attack is just barely noped by Lady Argentea, but the second claw catches Windrunner in the wing for 9.

R2T21: The winged unicorn ALSO crits the Big Bug while flanking with the griffin, catching it for 28 with its glowing horn and dropping it.

The heroes can put the thing out of its misery.

Initiative Ends!

There is a motionless, bloody man lying next to the Big Bug. Some 30' or so to the east, there is a small crowd of people with a couple torches.

Begin Round One ...

R1T18: Arthog tromps quickly through the snow from his hiding place to have his horn whip about and do significant damage (10 mod) to the raven swarm. Still, it is a single pokey horn-stick, and as many ravens as he kills, it isn't as much as he might have hoped as he pulls back from the initial strike.

R1T17: "Protect your eyes!" squeaks out Ten-Penny Tacey as she flies away from the swarm. "They love eyes and might scratch or peck them out!"

She casts a spell, and two arcane bolts of force leap forth to rip through the swarm for a total of 7 force. "Wait, what? Oh, cool!" cries Ten-Penny, as it appears that what happened was different than expected.

R1T16: Lady Argentea rides Windrunner towards the swarm, readying her shield as she goes. As she closes, she gives a particularly brutal sweep through the mass of ravens for 22, causing real mayhem.

Windrunner, this isn't a charge, and you had to move closer (MA), now adjacent to the swarm. What do you do?

R1T16 (Cont'd): Windrunner follows Lady Argentea's instruction to the best of his abilities. As she uses her knees to guide him close enough for her to strike the birds, he takes his own chance to get in a shot with his beak, seeking purchase among the swarming vermin. His beak snaps on so many of the ravens, that they begin to scatter, for which he follows up to bring down the fleeing birds with more strikes from his foreclaws.
