We got a breach! Follow me before the whole street finds us up here. she says as she tries to open the window. Failing that wraps a piece of cloth around her hand and breaks the window, and trying to wedge it open with her dagger. Gorion would have none of this! 'Tis shameful! she thinks herself, but continues.

    DEAD!!!!!

Leaf watches as Senna breaks open the window. He thinks he could have unlocked it for her but realizes that he was hesitating. After his last encounter in the wizard's house, he's not sure he wants to go marching in right now. He hears Grok and Sam start to fight, but can't tell what the commotion is.

"We don't have time. Grok and Sam need our help."

He dashes across the roof, grabbing the edge of the roof as he vaults over the side.

Once he's on the ground at the doorway, he waits for an opening, either a cloak away from his friends or just a flutter that he can exploit. He shoots an arrow at one of the animated cloaks. As he does, he yells at the wizard, hoping he can be heard wherever the wizard is.

"Ragefest! We were just here to talk. What's wrong with you? Call off your cloaks."

He then steps to the side, outside the door and no longer in the doorway.

We killed a vampire and an insane druid, I am sure... Senna says as she is not even sure Leaf could hear her. She pauses for a second. Yes, they could be able to deal with it. But being too prideful cost them several times. Maybe it was time to be more humble. She looks at the broken spell and window and rues the night before where they cooked such a half baked plan.

Their strength always was with brute force, and this did not change magically over night. Senna leapt down the window and follows Leaf on the ground. When Ragefast injured her friends and family, he had to report to her...

Sam manages to blast his way free, but struggles to do the same to Grok, with his beam skittering across enchanted-cloth and ricocheting into the wall. No sooner does Grok manage to free himself than does the cloak immediately wrap itself around him once more, tugging him away and back out the door. Its attempts to squeeze the dwarf tightly are for nothing though, as the dwarf's resilient body proves too much for it to damage. Leaf is no more successful at his communication than Sam was, but at least his arrow puts down the cloak already torn with glaive and spell.

The rest of the party arrives, leaving a shattered window in their wake, faced solely with one of the animated items of clothing remaining.

Sam's first beam frees himself. Second beam misses.
Grok takes two 'attacks' to free himself.

I chose the 'injured' cloak for Leaf's target, which finished it off.

The remaining cloak grapples Grok again...and then misses with its advantage attack.

    Party's up.

With the last remaining cloak surrounded, Grok frees himself and the party lays into it with blade and spell both, tearing the magically enchanted fibres piece by piece until there's nothing left but sad fibres and the memory of orders unfulfilled.

There's no signs of Ragefast having turned invisible - instead it seems more likely he teleported. Either that, or he floated away, as there's no footprints or other signs of his passage where he vanished from.

There aren't any clear doors or exits from the 'cloakroom' where you're stood, but casting your mind back you do recall Ragefast entering through a wall which warped itself to allow him passage, opening and closing at his behest. Furthermore, given the direction he came from, you might be able to estimate two other walls that might lead to different rooms or hallways, though you've got little idea of what lies on the other side.

    Spoiler: OOC

After its last turn, an attack I rolled for Grok, a missed OA from the cloak, and then only Restraining Leaf with its own attack, it was left on 11 HP. The likelihood the party can't do 11hp damage against a 13AC creature seems very low, so I'll just call the fight done there.

This was in fact an Easy fight, so you receive 5.

The situation has devolved beyond stealth at this point, Grepha communicates silently to Sam as the others mop up the cloak mess outside. Between the cloak shreds on the lawn and the window your fool sister decided to break, there is a trail of evidence that something happened here. Options for keeping this quiet are narrowing. Landing in the room, she calls back to the party, "Bring in the remains of that cloak. And dwarf, we seem to be in need of some redecorating."

Frowning on and behind his magical mask, the Fist soldier turns to the others. "This wizard has seen fit to attack with abandon, and intent to kill. If you adventurers are willing to lend a hand apprehending him non-lethally, maybe I can overlook the suspicious serendipity of your arrival," he tells them, without breaking character.

The walls are smooth - almost too smooth, with not a single crack or seam between them, but running your hands over them finds them as solid as any other stonework. No mundane tools crafted it into shape, nor does this seem to be a domain traversed by mundane means, at least not for those uninvited. A thorough investigation of the room finds no switch or trigger that might allow access. The building is a fortress, or at least intended to be one, and obnoxiously rejects your advances.

The wall was sealed by magic, and it is probably easiest to unseal it with such magic. I doubt Ragefast goes outside often, and if he does I assume he just teleports 'round it. Paranoid wizard I'd say, but after the last few weeks I would say he is just better at counter measures than us.

Or well, any other group without that much magic.
    the cleric says sardonically.

Senna traces an outline of a door on the wall with her finger while reciting an old rhyme:

    Ennyn Ragefast Aran Fennas Baldur.
Pedo Mellon a Minno. Im Senna hain echant.
Senna o Deneir teithant i thiw hin."

The stone around the arcway glows in Elven runes and slowly the stone bends inwards and gives way to an extremely ugly opening. The Deneirite leaves no door, it is just a crater in the wall. She finished by decorating in the equivalent of graffity saying "Senna was here."

What, no doormat? Senna moans playfully. After you, master dwarf.

Opening the wall to your left takes you out of the entry cloakroom into a dining hall, dominated by a long table surrounded by a dozen chairs. Only two places are set - the one at the head of the table, at the far end of the room, and the one at its left side. Neither place has food upon its plates, and a thin layer of dust seems to have formed across the otherwise polished silver.

In two of the corners are the skeletons of wyverns or some other similarly winged, draconic creature with two legs, their maws open. At the far end of the room, thankfully, is what appears to be a normal door. Gleaming in magical silver writing are the letters "Oɟɟǝɹ ʇɥǝ ɯɐsʇǝɹ ɥᴉs sǝɐʇ."

Outside of pilfering some silverware, there doesn't seem to be much else of immediate value or worth in the room.

    Ragefast's Keep

Stepping into the severely neglected dining hall, Sam peers around at the dusty silverware. Has the wizard even been eating? Or does he take his meals in the company of his captive nymph?

Taking a look at the plaque on the door opposite them, he takes hold of the chair at the head of the table and pulls it back. "Please take a seat, Master Ragefast," he recites for the door.

Ugh. Senna moans as Sam recites this. I would have preferred to interrogate the wyverns, but they dont talk much. Anyway... she moves forward, pulling the chair out, dusting it off and offering it to a master, who will probably never come. Take. a. seat. she utters from clenched teeth.

Leaf moves into the next room with the others. Normally, he would volunteer to wander around himself and see what he can find, but he's sure that there are more traps here.

The chair at the head of the table is pulled out and...nothing happens. The writing remains intact, the door remains shut (albeit, no one has yet tested to see if it's unlocked), and you have also not been attacked by any of the furniture or crockery. Indeed, nothing responds to your wanderings. Leaf doesn't find anything of note with his investigations, nor detect any mundane traps.

Senna takes the chair at the head of the table and...nothing happens, leaving Sam to attempt the door.

Sam's palm sears with pain as magic ignites underneath it, and the trap activates. At first, aside from Sam's injured palm, it doesn't seem to have done anything at all. It's only when you look to each other that its effects become evident. 'Branded' by magic atop your skin, in a fiery red glow on your foreheads, is the draconic rune that translates out - roughly - to "Criminal/Sinner/Unwanted One". It doesn't seem to do you any further harm, and covering it with hand or cloth or hair (if you have it to do so) seems adequate to conceal it, but nevertheless it is immediately visible when uncovered, immediately drawing of the eyes, and it doesn't seem to be going away.

The room beyond the dining hall looks like a study or lounge area, with bookshelves of tomes and seats to read them in. At the far end is a large three-tiered organ, perfect for serenading your captive nymph, though neither Ragefast nor 'his' Abela are in attendance. A door - one notably without magic writing this time - is on your right.

    Spoiler: OOC
    Show

Sam takes (1d6)[5] force damage for triggering the trap, and everyone (Grepha included) is Branded until further notice. An Identify spell will confirm exactly what's going on with it.

Speaking of damage, Sam's hit points don't seem to have been updated with the 25 he took during the cloak-fight.

Need to decide if you're gonna sniff around the lounge room for anything to steal creatively appropriate or move on.

Flinching away from the door when it bites back, Sam glances around, expecting the skeletons to spring to life and attack. Instead he finds everyone branded upon the forehead with a rather unflattering mark. "This brands us as criminals and sinners in dragonrune," he informs the others, scowling. "I respectfully decline from opening the next door," he states, waving his still stinging hand in the air. Stealing from the wizard holds no interest to him, so he walks slowly through the next room.

"Hate wizards," Grepha mumbles, flapping into the new room and perching upon a bookcase. She gives a cursory glance over the titles of the tomes for anything of note, or any possible secret switches. Drawn over by a telepathic nudge, Sam begrudgingly joins the search, still fuming over the insult of the wretched wizard's mark.

Leaf follows Sam into the next room. He is a little out of his element with all of these magical wards, so he defers to the spell casters to find any of the magical traps. But sometimes, wizards will put in some clever mundane traps too in order to dissuade those that rely too much on their ability to detect magical auras. So Leaf continues to look at the doors and walls for any subtle signs of those mundane triggers.

The lounge is mercifully free of any other trap (mundane or otherwise) to throw off your investigations of the room. Most of the tomes on the shelves are the sort of general lazy fare that you'd expect on any bookshelf in a public space - lightweight fiction, epic fiction, popular biographies and travelographies. Little in the way of philosophy or academic studies. It's not hard to imagine Ragefast entertaining guests here when he was marginally less mad, and allowing them the time to peruse his books at their leisure.

Only one tome sticks out as unusual, Glorious Rudiments of Sensing Motives - what can be best described as a 'self help' book intended to teach others how to understand and influence those around them, generally regarded as low quality work intended for easily influenced nobles instead of actual academics. Sure enough, this out of place book proves to have been a hiding place for a pair of spell scrolls.

You recover a spell scroll of Unspoken Name (my spell list), and another of Power Word: Kill.
    No that's not a typo.

There otherwise doesn't appear to be much worth your attention here, unless you've suddenly developed a keen interest in bodice-ripper fiction primarily targeted at the young adult women demographic.
