With a great display of strength, Grok tears asunder the binds holding Sam in place, freeing him from their grip. The half-dragon unleashes two frantic blasts but the nimble rat dips down beneath them. Bravely striding into the disgusting slop beneath in the centre channel, Senna steps forward and calls down a prayer to Deneir, detonating a bright light that seeks to blind the far group of rats, to mixed results, though you hear a distinctly displeased screech of pain from some. With the party taking cover, only Grepha is available for the wererats to strike, slashing out with blades and bites in melee and firing again with their crossbows at range. The flurry of shots makes evasion difficult, and while most of them slip by Grepha she is caught by some of the strikes.

To the south, the Otyugh seems to have awoken more fully, wandering over towards the metal bars between it and Leaf. Both out loud, and also specifically in Leaf's mind, the creature unleashes a screech of hunger and desire, flailing its tentacles through the bars, though not actually coming close to reaching the tabaxi.

    Spoiler: Map

Spore's been absent for the past 10 days so I'm just gonna go ahead and not wait any more time.
Senna casts Holy Smite on the far set of wererats, blinding two and dealing 10 damage to them, dealing half to the two that saved. She then moves back into cover.
Sam is freed by Grok, but unfortunately misses.

One of the wererats in melee misses with their bite+blade, the other bites Grepha for 5 piercing damage.
I'm gonna say Fiends can't be infected with lycanthropy. Flying rats already exist - they're called seagulls.
With everyone else in cover, the ranged rats shoot Grepha. One crits for 8. Another would have hit, but blind stopped that. The rest miss.

Damage numbers are before resistances, as usual.

The Otyugh moves and flumps up against the metal, but can't get past it.

    Caelyn and Leaf are up.

When the creature approaches, Leaf backs up. He doesn't want to get close to it. It's behind bars now, but what if those rats have a lever to open it. Besides, it looks like it needs to be taken out anyway. He doesn't understand why someone would leave that down here. He runs along the walkway and settles in on the other side of the pipe, using it to hide from the Otyugh.

Hearing her feline companion's warning, Caelyn decides to end this fight. She remembered Sam's warning about using flames, but... well... it they were overwhelmed by rats and monsters, being scorched wouldn't matter much, would it? She slid forward, breaking cover, and stamped her staff in the muck of the sewer, barking a threat in druidic that became realized in a small flittering orb of flame that rocketed forward and exploded, filling the rat's chamber with flame. Thankfully, Grepha is immune, but she doubted the rats and rat men were.

Leaf's shot lands home on the otyugh, skewering its thick leathery hide that sloughs with sewer waste. It unleashes another wild roar of pain, but can't do much else. Caelyn's fireball streaks into the centre chamber, washing over rat and were-rat alike. The smaller foes shrivel up into cinders from the scorching flames, and one of the weakened were-creatures falls, but surprisingly despite most of them falling victim to the worst of the fire, many of them stay standing, their cursed bodies more resilient than that of most of the surface dwellers.

    Leaf hits the Otyugh
Caelyn wipes out the dire rats, injures three of the wererats (with the one closest to Grepha being on death's door now) and kills one in the back. One of them made their save, the rest all failed.

Scrapes from the bolt and the rat's filthy teeth drag across Grepha's skin, leaving shallow wounds. Once upon a time these wounds would have nearly floored her, but she feels more powerful than before. At least against weapons not enhanced by magics. Some idle worry about the rat bite and becoming a rat-imp eats at the back of her mind, but it vanishes when a fireball suddenly consumes the cavern.

Panicking, Grepha turns to look at the party's position, relieved to find they haven't been turned to ashes. A risky gamble, but with the campfire already present a measured one, and the risk pays off in full. "Excellent work, Caelyn! Never more pleased to see my advice ignored!" Swooping down at the rats in front of her, Grepha engulfs her talons in green flame and rakes them across the disgusting creatures' faces to keep their attention from her less-expendable allies. Unfortunately, attention is the most she gets with the flashy swipes.

The flurry of arcane bolts stream out from Anri, bursting down the tunnel to slam into one of the wererats accosting Grepha. Rather than merely knocking them back or singing their fur, the blasts pierce through, leaving three fist-sized holes in their body. They slump forwards, dropping with a clatter. Senna, seeing that the heavy hitters are struggling to get past the tangles, steps up and utters an incantation of Unmaking. A wave of magic washes over the plant growth, causing them to shrivel up to nothing. She steps into the tunnel with an enthusiastic "Let's go!", only to see a rat swarm enter the fray and leap at Grepha. The rats are impossible to count, but it must easily be two dozen, if not twice that, and so many that there are even Grepha can't evade them all, and a few manage to bite down against her infernal flesh.

Rodents manage to leap up and reach Grepha, scraping and snapping with their big, ugly teeth. She flinches more at the disgusting contact with the things than pain from the bites. When she sees Sam rushing in alongside Grok, she warns the dragonborn telepathically, Take care not to be bitten. You could contract any number of foul things, lycanthropy notwithstanding.

Taking position behind Grepha and Grok, Sam breathes out a trail of flame over the swarming rats and the rat-man behind them. The flames roll over Grepha, without much effect. If anything it burns away the disgusting rat-drool and leaves her feeling more comfortable than before.

Moving in to fill the gap left by the now-dispelled plants, both Grok and Sam rush to the front, Sam's breath burns away one of their targets, while Grok's wicked-fast glaive cleaves through another one and continues on to skewer a number of the tiny rats. The psychic assault, sudden though it was, is barely pushed back upon, and Sam feels that it doesn't take root. Despite losing more than half their people, the rats seem determined to fight to the bitter end - perhaps because their only visible exit is now blocked by the otyugh, who has moved away from its position as pincushion for Leaf to the den itself, to devour the freshly barbecued rat. The pair of archers fire past it at Grepha, but the tiny imp evades the bolts.

The fight is yet to be completely won though. On silent footsteps another enemy approaches, appearing from invisibility with a hissing roar as a new wererat - larger than the others and wearing a skull for a helmet - swings down at Grok with a wicked silver-edged sword. The dwarf deflects the blow though, sending both the swings careening into the tunnel walls. Clad in chainmail and with a row of potions at its belt, it seems clear this one is a cut above the ones you've already slain.

Sam burns away the far wererat, even with a failed save, but the swarm remains, albeit now below half its numbers.

The new wererat leader appears from invisibility and misses Grok, twice.

Anri was a little slow to react to the opening up ahead. She prepared herself to once again hop the sewage river, but by the time she had finished shrinking away from a particularly awful passerby the space was already full of colour-leeched vines.

With annoyance, the elf clicked her tongue. She let her axe fall, withdrawing her bow and firing off a couple of shots - trying to avoid getting the obsta- companions in the tunnel in the back of the head. Seeing she wasn't haven't too much luck, she sighed, and clicked her fingers. Her mighty axe once again reappeared in her hand, and she moved forward, screwing up her nose in distaste as her boots splashed in the muck.

"Excuse me," she said, trying politeness to see if it'd get her way to the combat easier.

This newcomer evidently did not become a leader for no reason. Caelyn's vines spring up around him, and he tears away with raw strength. Grepha attacks him from behind, and with a sixth sense he leaps away at the last second, twisting his tail to bat at the imp - dealing no damage, but perhaps thoroughly aggravating the infernal creature. When Anri and Leaf both combine their arrow barrages, it's too much for the sprightly creature to handle. While he knocks away two arrows with quick sword swipes, the third one is too much for him to handle and slams into its shoulder, drawing blood and a howl of fury.

Heeding its leaders call, the rat swarm continues to leap and leap and leap at Grepha, who - knocked off guard by the leader's tail - finds herself assailed by tiny bites that really hurt when you think about it.

Senna, whose bravery could be taken for recklessness, hops past Grok and into the vines, slipping around the wererat leader with a clever smirk on her face. With one hand she clutches at her holy symbol and then raises it, causing beams of gentle celestial light to fall upon her, Sam, Grok, and Anri. The Blessing of Deneir.

Unfortunately the leader makes their save vs. Entangle, and the rat swarm is immune. Thankfully, Grepha made her save...though she also misses her attack.

Swerving around the vines that grasp up from below, Grepha becomes less focused on evading the gnawing jaws of the rodents, much to her consternation. The swat from the rat-master's tail only adds insult to slowly, steadily growing injury.

A pair of blasts are hurled, though Sam restrains their displacing power to keep the rat in range of Grok's polearm. The swift glaivestrikes shear away chunks of the wererat's armour and cut the fur beneath, and it only gets worse for the creature when Sam's beam slams into the side of his head and knocks assails his mind. He screeches something incomprehensible to you, but it seems to get the attention of the Otyugh and the remaining archers, who all begin to move in from their position in the rear. The massive form of the sewer-eating creature struggles to push through the narrow gaps, and is only hindered moreso when it reaches the thick vines. It does still manage to reach Senna and Grepha with its flailing tentacles, but the pair side-by-side manage to duck away from the disgusting appendages. Likewise, Grok blows aside the pair of bolts launched by the remaining wererats with a sweep of his glaive, sending them clattering to the stones.

A little fear in his eyes, the wererat leader tugs a potion from his belt and drains it, vanishing before your eyes - though in the shallow sewer water you can still see the shimmer of where his feet should be, indicating he has not moved.

Grok hits twice with his glaive. Sam misses one shot, hits with the other, and the leader fails its save vs. Mind Thrust. With the damage from this turn it's now bloodied.
Limited in actions, the leader quaffs a potion and turns invisible, though you can tell he's still there (unable to move due to mind thrust).
The two wererats shoot at Grok, and miss.
The Otyugh moves in, and tries to tentacle Senna and Grepha, but misses with both attacks. Difficult terrain prevents it from getting close enough to try a bite.

Another arrow streams past the collective party crammed into the tunnels, curving over their heads with expert precision to strike at the globular creature that is the otyugh. It hits, though the creature's hide is thick, and can clearly take more arrows than just that.

From her position and angle, Caelyn has difficult aiming her scorching blasts at an invisible wererat, though whether it is luck or skill one of them clearly impacts in midair and strikes him, instead of sailing past into the stones behind. Anri adds to this, her first strike narrowly missing by a hair before cleaving the next across its chest. Blood droplets bubble into visibility, though the creature itself still remains hidden behind a veil of magic. Senna seeks to break it, calling down a radiant word. Whatever measure of magic she hoped to inflict on the leader seems to fall short, but the remaining rats in the swarm are dispersed, the few survivors scurrying away to safety. She doesn't hold there though, and calls down a magic glyph to sear away at the archers in the backline.

Hitting an invisible creature is difficult enough and though Grok has two narrow misses, they are still misses. One more attack lands though, sending another spurt of blood streaming into the sewer water, that Sam's flames quickly turn to steam. When the fire dissipates though, you see...nothing. The hints that the wererat leader were there are gone. You can't see him, or smell him, nor hear him. He could be beside you, and you wouldn't know (except for Anri, who perhaps knows better), or he might have fled off away to nurse his injuries.

The otyugh does no such fleeing, however, it lumbers forward, swinging its tentacles at Sam and Senna, wrapping them in the spiked appendages and crushing them. Flailing, it moves Senna towards its massive maw and bites down, twisting her armour beneath its thick jaws. Despite the pain, she somehow manages to maintain the blessing bestowed upon the party (and herself). Behind the creature, one of the wererats seems to give up the fight and break away, fleeing down south, while the other lowers their crossbow towards Anri, firing past the undulating mass of the otyugh, and skimming her with a bolt.

    Spoiler: Map

Grok hits once only, for 20 including the smite.
The leader fails his save vs Fire Breath (had to move an extra 5ft east to angle properly and avoid hitting Anri).

The leader moves away and Hides (21, which I believe beats everyone's PP). You lose track of him.
The otyugh hits Senna (10) and Sam (13)) with its tentacles. This Grapples and Restrains them (athletics or acrobatics action to escape, DC13). Senna is additionally Bitten for 13. She somehow holds onto her concentration for Bless though.
One wererat breaks and flees. The other stays and shoots at Anri past the Otyugh, hitting (barely, including the cover from the otyugh) for 6 piercing damage.

Since the rat swarm is dead there aren't any more enemies between you, so everyone is up. I'll do Senna's actions at the end.

Sensing a shift in the combat, Caelyn leaps across the steam of filthy water and moves in behind Grok. With a belch of volcanic black smoke, Caelyn utters the words of summoning to her ally. An elemental the size of a large dog appears in a wash of fire behind the filth eating monster, singing it from behind. While the creature's attention is turned, Caelee also summons her healing spirit, manifesting as a small rabbit that also looks to be made of plants and fire, much like her other summon. It hops next to Sam, where it's singing affection eased her brother's wounds.

A bolt snapped out the dark towards her. Her eyes flashed with gold, and the bolt screeched off her cheek as if it had struck stone, a hexagonal pattern dissipating on the surface of her skin like ink into sand.

    "Annoying," she said.

In the distraction, the wererat leader had scrambled off, and the elf clicked her tongue in irritation. Enemies were always running off.

The monster, though, looked more satisfying. With eager swiftness she bounded forward and sank the axe deep into one of the creature's limb, scorching and slicing, before bringing the weapon out and back in a vicious chopping motion, aiming to hew the minster's head from its body - well, as best as she could reach.
