Akif shakes his head grinning at the response and strides back towards the door to the far west and pushes it open to have a look beyond. Opening back into the library he pauses and shakes his head.

”Ah, wrong room I am turned around.” he says pointing to the large room where he had been assailed by he foot biter (A10). There he points at the door on the western side leading west just beyond the double doors that presumably lead back to the entrance hall where they had fought the statues

"We already checked out both western rooms. The one door farther west is the loo," says The Scribe. "The other is a storage room. Both have been checked."

Akif glances down the corridor and shakes his head. "This place is like this city. A small maze of confusing tunnels and corridors. Where do you suggest Myki and Illuvar? I shall follow your lead,"

"Outer edges inward," she says and points to the door to the east.

Iluvar nods, "You are doing great."

Akif nods to Iluvar, ”My thanks. In my home the dwellings are open and the forests lush.” At the door to the east he checks the grip on his shield and with his empty hand pushes open the door and walks through.

This kitchen appears partially automated, with several spindly mechanical arms extruding from counters and holding rolling pins or chef’s knives. To the northwest, a window looks out over a scrap heap and the edge of the balcony. A smaller door stands in the southern corner. By far the largest feature in the room is a potbellied iron stove along the western wall, its several extruded arms holding pots and skillets.

As soon as Akif enters the kitchen, the various mechanical arms snap to attention.

Akif looks about the room looking for any more exits from the room. Seeing one on the west wall by the door he steps into the room and then pushes open the door on his left whilst keeping his shield facing the cooking devices

Myki moves in and starts to close on him for a close follow, but she only gets to the doorway and is too late to stop Akif. Akif steps in front of the stove, and as soon as he does so the entire stove explodes, engulfing the entire room in flame and blowing out the window. Myki is able to just duck a lick of flame.

Akif is surprised enough that he can't get his shield up to protect him, but his amazing reflexes do help him to crouch so that he only takes 25 fire.

Sisir

As the heat of the explosion washes over Sisir, he cries out "Akif!" He rushes around the corner and towards his brother, before stopping in front of Myki, "Myki, it is good you are unharmed. Brother, are you badly injured? Regardless, this expedition is getting out of hand, between the two kinds of constructs, and now trapped mundanities, clearly Berkanin is more prepared that I at least gave him credit for."

Iluvar says, "Let's step up the caution. The dangers will only get worse from here on out. Is there a bypass Myki, do you think it resets?"

Iluvar will come up to examine the damage. "Akif, Myki do you need healing?"

Myki looks at Iluvar incredulously. "Not unless the completely blown apart stove reconstitutes itself. If it does? That's it. I'mma' peace out."

The stove is, as mentioned, completely destroyed, as is much of this room, and the various mechanical kitchen aids, and ... as mentioned, the window was blown out.

Akif stops, coughing up smoke and blood. ”hostile place and not a safe kitchen.” At his brothers question he shakes his head, “i will be well in a moment.” he adds blessing the wound with his magic

Akif prays to Kerkamoth to give him healing, even sacrificing one of his most powerful spells in hopes that Kerkamoth hears his servant .... but the spell is wasted, and no healing is forthcoming.

It was a shot in the dark and simply hope, as Akif's magic does not grant him spontaneous casting like a true cleric.

Seeing the wound not heal, Iluvar says, "That still looks bad. Here let me use my healing if you don't mind."

Akif nods his thanks to Iluvar before kicking the now exploded oven. ”I do not like this house.” With frustration vented he’ll move to the door as planned and pass through to the other side

The ceiling in this room rises to fifteen feet, and a single enormous picture window takes up most of the northeastern wall. A long, elegant wooden dining table and eight high-backed chairs stand in the center of the room. The only decorations are two life-sized clay statues of soldiers in exotic armor, one standing at attention to either side of the doors leading in from the garden. With Akif bursting through the door, the clay soldiers animate in martial readiness. Because in this house of horrors ... of course they do.

Round One Begins ...

R1T35: Myki just barely catches a glimpse of something moving in the other room. She downs an extract and then flies (literally) past Akif and into the room to the south, gaining enough altitude to be out of hopefully out of reach of the things. "Terra-cotta soldiers! Constructs! Better response reflexes than most. They work best fighting side-by-side. Highly skilled multi-blade combatants, with a keen skill in both long and short blades."

She takes a good look around the room from her elevated position. "No other bogeys."

R1T21: True to her warning that they have surprisingly good response time, one of the constructs is already on the move. It hustles to get around the table to threaten Akif from the west.

R1T19: The Scribe darts into the room, ducks carefully away from the first soldier, and gets into the southeastern corner of the room, gets into multiple combat stances while studying Blue. "Only thing to add is that seconds after combat is joined, their swords become supernaturally sharp ... and it's easier to smash their clay-like exterior than to cut or pierce them."

Blue hadn't had a chance to respond yet, and the Scribe disarms it of its longsword.

R1T18: Iluvar, what do you do?

Hearing the fight starting and the description of the opponents, Iluvar takes a moment to cast a spell that will add to his fighting efficacy. He thens moves into the room and closes on the construct that the Scribe has disarmed.

R1T16: Sisir, you were watching the kitchen from the alcove previously. Everybody left the kitchen heading through the southern doorway of the kitchen. You have mace (light) and shield in hand. What do you do?

Sisir

"More fighting," Sisir shakes his head "back into the fray I suppose." He strides down the corridor and turns into the kitchen moving, shield and mace at the ready. As he passes his brother he fixes his gaze on the adjacent construct and swings his mace down, striking at its head.

Swift Action: Hypnotic Stare on Red. It takes -3 to Will Saves and Attack Rolls. If the target is immune to mind-affecting effects, then it +2 to any related saves and have a 50% chance to ignore the Stare's effect every round.

Tricks: If anyone with Mask Misery implanted become affected by any moderate condition as defined by Touch Treatment, activate Mask Misery.


Other: Should Sisir fail to trigger Painful Stare twice on his own turn, he will attempt to trigger it any time the target of his Hypnotic Stare gets hit before his next turn, up to a maximum of two time in the round. Every such activation will deal 4 precision damage, and force the same save vs confusion as above.

R1T16: "More fighting," Sisir shakes his head. "Back into the fray, I suppose." He strides down the corridor and turns into the kitchen moving, shield and mace at the ready. As he passes his brother he fixes his gaze on the adjacent construct and swings his mace down, striking at its head. The creature deflects the block from the head, but the mace still glide way down to slam into its left upper leg for 16.

R1T15: Blue nicks Iluvar in his right upper arm for 3 with its short sword, steps back, and picks up its longsword.

End Round One, Begin Round 2 ...

R2T35: Myki does a quick study of Red (including applying something to her blade) before flying down directly behind it and stabbing it in a critical section of its back upper arm for 28 mod + sickened. Sisir's surprising stare still sleeps.

R2T21: Red spins around to face Myki and with spinning blades it is parried at every turn. With a riposte, Myki slaps her rapier into its foot, crumbling it, and the rest of the terra-cotta soldier falters and falls to the ground, shattering in many pieces.

R2T19: The Scribe zooms around the table to the other side, fails a fancy trip attempt, and steps back. He shrugs good-naturedly, nonplussed about missing.

R2T18: Iluvar, you are in Crane Style, but you have yet to begin attacks with which to gain benefit from it (with Defensive Stance). What do you do?

Akif on deck, Sisir in the hole ...

Iluvar moves to engage the construct closest to him. He fight style seems that he his take extra care to avoid attacks.

R2T18: Iluvar moves to engage the construct closest to him. He fights in a style where he seems he takes extra care to avoid attacks. His first attack is a left hand chop to what passes for a neck for 7; a right-hand downward hammer blow to its left forearm for 11. He continues his downward torque into a spinning crouch to come around with a knife-hand strike to its left shin for 14, and finishing off with a rising knife hand to the underside of its right wrist for 11 before returning at height to a chambered position.

R2T17: Akif, what do you do?

Akif happy with the creature’s destruction scrambles over the table to the south and lashes out with the shield to smash the other stone guardian with a pair of powerful smashing shield blows.

R2T17: Akif - happy with the creature’s destruction - scrambles over the table to the south. He lashes out with the shield to smash the other stone guardian in the stomach for 40, and knocking it away from him. In doing so, Iluvar does a high knee strike to its upper left arm for 8. But the Scribe, also with a reach weapon, likewise strikes at Blue to strike it in the lower back destroying it!

Combat Ends!

Iluvar watches his wound to see if it will continue to bleed.

After a moment, with it not bleeding he says, "I didn't see anyone else get hurt, are we good to continue?"

Akif standing atop the table looks down at Iluvar and the Scribe grinning behind the faceplate of his helm. ”We fight well together my friends. Look at this team work.” he states loudly in a happy voice.

With the constructs destroyed he moves to a quick look around the room for anything relevant to their quest for the small children

It takes 2-1/2 minutes to do a quick search of the dining room to verify no clues for the troll's brother Augustille (not a "small children"), during which time Iluvar's divine favor falters.

"We should check the what is likely a small pantry that offshoots from the kitchen, just for completeness' sake, before heading upstairs," counsels Myki.
