The man playing with Ted downs his entire stein and puts it back down, his teeth red he grins to ted. He motions to the bar and they bring out refills for ted and him. Teds Partner is able to score on their mutual opponent, but he isnt forced to drink.

"Time for Round two!"

He flings a coin towards Ted's freshly filled stein.

"Used to play in Neverwinter, easy way to earn a few coins." Grey grins when Ted compliments him, then turns back to Erik to keep playing the quite dangerous but obviously quite amusing (at least to Grey) game, who looks like he's having the time of his life: he drinks, he plays, he jokes and at the same time, he tries to gather more information about Skald, the Duchy a vampire apparently run, anything that could help him shed some light on the quest Akriel has given them.

From the corner of your eyes, from time to time you think you see something off, a hand covered in fur, canine teeth too long to be human, or nails growing out like claws, but when you turn your head to look, there's nothing wrong or out of place.

Well... maybe there isn't something wrong here other than my prejudices, Rose thinks to herself. Perhaps there are lycanthrope citizens living in this town, but other than that one encounter inside the prison, not one werewolf has really tried to hurt her. Everyone has been rather kind to Rose and her companions, and even accept (if a bit nervously) Akla. Perhaps their odd teeth-staining booze and enjoyment of harmonic song keeps them placated? The old saying did go, music sooths the savage beast. A well-placed sleep spell could too, but Rose was never good at playing any instruments.

She does take interest in the stories of goblyns. Rose will be inquisitive, asking about the tactics employed by these folks, and what weaknesses the goblyns may have, if any. If they want Rose to spin a tale in return of her own, she will try to recall the previous town and the battle against the undead she survived with her companions.

"He wants us to be wolves, huh?" mutters Cheyanne as she turns back to watch Grey. With a genuine smile of gratitude for her friend's boldness, Cheyanne sits next to him and puts her hand out for the knife next.

"Is this knife pure silver? It's very nice," she says as she takes a much more deliberate pace, stabbing at the table between her fingers at a slow tempo but with more force than would be strictly necessary. "How do you keep it from dulling?"

Isn't alchemical silver supposed to pierce the damage resistance of werewolves? But weapons made of it deal less damage in general? Could be conveniently important to ensure that this game doesn't give away a werewolf's DR while also not injuring them too badly...

From speaking with your game master you learn that Skald is the 2nd of two main settlements in a larger Country of Kartakass. The country you are in does not have an over arching government, each settlement allowed to handle their own business, and run by a music meister. But there is a ruler over these lands, a Lord. Harkon Lucas, he is a patron of the arts and song, and the only thing that supposedly is holding back the Duke from invading into the land.

Erik smiles as he watches Grey expedite the game while Cheyanne starts at the beginners level. Erik begins to speed up the game.

He is able to stab between his fingers quite quickly, drawing no blood, he's still not as fast as grey, but he's stepped up the challenge for Cheyanne to follow.

Your stories of the undead are received with excitement as you learn that the Goblyns weird axes to cut down forests and spread the mires of the swamp, but when they fight people, they drop the axes and push to bite people.

As you play, you seem to start noticing more and more fur around you, a hairy arm, a beard extra long, but when ever you focus, it doesn't look out of place.

Grey looks quite surprised when Cheyanne plays the foolish game as well, but then grins quite happy that someone else would do something that stupid with him "You're good." he says with an appreciative nod "Never thought you would play this game. Guess one should not judge a book by its cover." and then Grey waits his turn to play another round, again trying to show off a bit with his not-so-marketable skill of not chopping his own fingers with a sharp blade.
But it would not be much of a showing off if he focused too much on the game, so Grey chats a little with Erik "How this Lukas keeps that overgrown tick at bay?" he asks a little baffled "I mean, heard bad things about the vampire. Is this Lukas fellow so powerful?"

Cheyanne tries to go faster and nearly succeeds, only stabbing herself on the last jab. "Ouch! Oh, that stings..." she says as she pulls the knife out and puts pressure on the wound, conveniently covering the effect of the divine healing she invokes silently. "Well, I guess I lose - do I just watch now?"

Erik wipes your blood from the dagger with a nearby clothe napkin. As you watch, Erik speeds up, matching greys speed. The knife comes up clean when he passes it to grey.

Erik motions to the woman behind the bar and she brings Cheyanne another round of her earlier drink, Mead.

"Only consequences are you gonna drink it all down. Bottoms up!"

You learn from Erik that harkon Lucas has a magic sword,
and many believe that it allows him the ability to fight off the Duke or at least keeps him at bay.

Helen was just sitting by her friends in elegant, yet cold silence. Alcohol and blood, that what is all was about. This whole ordeal seemed very childish to her, not even mentioning all the stuff she had learned about alcoholism as a medical doctor. Maybe thanks to them participating in these "games" they scored some popularity among the local people, but Helen wasn't really sure if this excused this whole... behaviour, may Gods have her in their care.

"Please let me have that cloth," says Cheyanne. "Can't have ones blood lying around..." she explains as she insistently - but politely - reaches for the bloody rag. Once she's got it she accepts another drink but excuses herself from further rounds, instead watching the rest of the room curiously...and untrustingly...

Mechanically, you can drink your con modifier in drinks without penalty. You can drink more, getting "sickened" up to twice your con mod. If you drink more you become "nauseated" and must make fort saving throws equal to 10+amount of drinks you've taken to avoid passing out.

Interesting. Rose is curious why these Goblyns go for bites specifically. Then she remembers the one lady at the tavern, and how her leg injury was something even Helen couldn't immediately cure. Ah, that now makes sense. So the group will need to avoid getting bitten in particular. She chats more about the story of fighting the undead, since they're fascinated with it. Rose then asks where the good seats are to listen to the performances.

"Thank you," Cheyanne says coolly as she collects the cloth. She takes it over to the fireplace and drops it inside to deliberately ruin any effort made to use the blood against her. "I've had some bad experiences, would rather not leave anything like that around," she explains when she gets back to watch Grey and Erik a little longer.

Grey could easily heal the small wound Cheyanne caused herself, but he seems to prefer discretion at the moment - he's having fun, but fun is not a good enough reason to show people too much.

"Wish I had a magic sword." he half-jokingly says instead "Hope you Harmonians don't become a midnight snack. Or 'goblyn' food, heard they bite - hard. To be honest, you people look remarkably relaxed even though you have so many enemies - undead, goblyns, even werewolves. Where I come from, we had problems with orcs and trust me, we take that threat quite seriously." and with those words, he grabs the knife again and again stabs quickly between his fingers.

Erik speeds up even more, to the point of being reckless. He holds up the blade, handing it to grey. The blade is clean and bloodless.

Something is off - Erik's hand should definitely be covered in blood, yet the blade is surprisingly clean. So Grey chuckles and tries to grab the hand of his opponent, the smile now an aggressive grin "Don't like cheaters." he says, giving a quick glance to Cheyanne to see if she has caught eye of how Erik managed to fool them off until now.

- Is there some kind of problem? - Helen caught the change of tone in Grey's voice and raised her head, suddenly curious and alarmed.

Ted can guess the answers and seeks a way out of the situation. When Grey accuses his opponent of cheating, Ted takes an interest and prepares to go to his companion’s aid if need be.

Erik smiles and chuckles as Grey grabs his hand.

"You've caught me! How swift of you! I concede. You win the round. Now for my consequences."

He takes his stein of Mekkulbrau and downs it. He doesn't fight to get his hand back but it feels furry. Erik looks to Helen with a smile.

"Your friend has won! Would you like to join?"

- No, thank you - the answer of Helen was laconic. She went to a corner a bit and cast Detect Magic upon herself. Then she went back and threw a suspicious glare at the gamemaster. Better safe than sorry.

Cheyanne nods and crosses her arms to look at Erik. "I got a cut, a strong drink, and had to argue for the rag with my blood back. Wolves or sheep, I'm not impressed with dishonest gamers," she says darkly. Standing and looking to her allies she declares, "It's been fun, but I'm out - going to get some fresh air." Then she deliberately glares at Erik and struts out of the room, daring any of the locals to follow with her imperious gaze.

Grey stays silent for a few seconds after Erik's answer, then says with a (quite fake) smile "Everything's dandy." before letting the hand of his opponent go. The shadowy man then stands up, nods to Erik as a way to say goodbye and without a hint of shame or hesitation keeps the knife - unless someone stops him (in that case, he returns the blade with open disdain), Grey seems to consider the blade just reward for winning the game; he briefly stops at the bar to close his tab.
That done, he follows Cheyanne outside and waits for them (including any members of the party that have decided they had enough of the place) to be alone before saying anything "Fellow was...'wrong'. When I touched him, hand was way too hairy." he shares with Cheyanne (and the rest of the party, if present), now concerned and alert.

At the bar when you go to settle the tab she eyes the knife in your hand and notes it on your groups tab.

Ted’s next toss is a clean miss.

As he grabs his stein to drink again Ted tell the guy he’s been playing against ”Well, you won this time. Maybe another time on the hide and seek. Right now I have to go.”

He puts down the drink, flashes a strange red stained grin, and follows his fellow adventurers.

The man Ted has been playing against returned the bloody red grin.

"Safe travels little brother, beware the goblyns bite."

The performance was quite good; Rose will give them this--they are musically skilled. She spots out of the corner of her eye some of her companions moving about, so Rose quietly slips away from the show and follows her friends.

"Are we having another interesting time?"

Once the group is alone, Ted says

”You might say that. I suspect werewolves are somewhat common in this town. They don’t seem to be rabid beasts though, just an oppressive upper class and probably kill a few people once in a while.”

He stumbles along, obviously drunk.

- Hm... - Helen said - This is possible, but for now, this is only a hypothesis, not a commonly known fact. We should gather some more data on this topic to be completely sure. But we should keep that in mind nonetheless, I believe.
