Would you be ok if I took Benthic Spell, and refluffed it to something like a torrent of sunstuff/fire energy? (would replace vast spell feat)

Benthic Spell (Metamagic)

Explorers in the depths of the Arcadian Ocean have learned that deadly pressure can be just as lethal as any flame.

Benefit: You can modify a spell that deals acid, cold, electricity, or fire damage to deal damage through high-pressure water instead. The spell gains the water descriptor, and you can either replace the spell’s normal damage with bludgeoning damage or split the spell’s damage so that half is bludgeoning and half is of its normal type. Creatures with damage reduction apply their damage reduction to bludgeoning damage from a benthic spell, but the spell counts as bludgeoning and magic for the purposes of bypassing damage reduction.

A benthic spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level.

Destruction sphere spells pretty much let me toss one of several elements, one of which is untyped. When you guys are ready to attack and we roll init, I can lead with a Sphere-shaped Disintegrate effect that is untyped.

oh we got crazy AoEs. It would have been a bigger problem with players who'd been engulfed by swarms before we could act though.

just for the sake of conversation and questions if we are heading into a known anti-magic field, would a caster be able to use something akin to greater dispel magic or counterspell anti-magic field to turn off the field ?

and by that same token would a ring of counterspell ( GDM / AMF ) also trigger when entering such a field?

well of the few planar that might, if we have access to wish/miracle - why not just use that to cast disjunction on the field, or if able just cast disjunction

Dispels explicitly don't work, according to the antimagic field spell description. Disjunction has a 1% chance per caster level chance.

ok what of a counterspell anti-magic field effect?

We should be able to disjoin or dispel the Anti-Magic Field provided it is not created by an artifact or a god. Hopefully the Analyze Dweomer that was cast will tell us IF we can.

Could we just ethereal jaunt through it?

I have always been under the belief that you can only counterspell as a spell is being cast. Beyond that you need to dispel or disjoin it, and dispel doesn't work on an AMF.

You could probably go astral to bypass it, but I don't think you can reappear in the zone. And that is beside the fact that the prison would surely be warded against people just going astral to escape their prisons.
