This is the GM-only Battle Book for the Emerald Spire Superdungeon campaign.

If you are a player in this game, looking at the contents therein is cheating. I have removed a player from my server and several games they were in because they used the information here.

As that was likely a jest, given that Bríg's active light seems somehow "weaker" just because of color spectrum, perhaps there is a little chuckle from the adventurers present to break the tension. There is a strange noise, though, the sound of something magical and sparks below everyone's eye line. Looking down, there is a smallish-sized arrow jutting from Mordren's right knee (4).

Begin Round One ...

R1T22: Grathar, your darkvision easily pierces the unnatural gloom that will most assuredly hinder your lesser-sighted allies. Past the barrier of the entrance a bit are two small humanoids astride two strange canines. The one you see most easily (Red) has a small bow in hand, whereas the one that is partially obscured by cover (Blue) has a long, strange polearm that is fashioned out of scrap metal. They laugh maniacally as Red's bow had found its mark on the largest member of the group. Remember that ALL SQUARES are difficult terrain. What do you do?

R1T22: Grathar gasps suddenly at seeing an arrow sticking in one of his companions. He grunts out, "Two riders?" before he assumes a more defensive stance and moves ahead of everyone else.

R1T16: Aroden whips his head about at the sound of cackling, and locking eyes upon the arrow, he wastes no time in widening his stance and his grip, lowering his center of mass and holding the sword before him, the blade at an upward angle so as to parry anything that might lunge from beyond the gloaming. Watching Grathar push through to the front, he pursues, awkwardly stepping around rubble and calling after, "Ah, dwarf! Race to first kill, ah?"

At the end of his movement, he sees he is just inside a creature's polearm, the stone entryway having protected Aroden from getting chopped.

R1T14: Bríg takes a deep breath in, and as she breaths out a thin layer of smoke emerges out of nowhere, coating the ceiling of the room. Small sparks begin to fall from the smoke, appearing almost as tiny stars. Bríg steps forward, straining to see the enemies ahead. Should she see an enemy, she will attack, calling down a burning orb from the smoke to strike at them. Otherwise she will prepare to strike at the first foe she sees.

R1T11: Reiko double moves into the room while drawing a fancy, exotic type of short sword, acrobatically getting to her last point once she just spies a goblin at the edge of Aroden's light. She calls out positions: "Goblins on strange dog-like mounts. Two riders. One immediately north and immediately west of me!"

R1T5-3: Movement inside as one of the riders tries to get into flanking position. She slashes with her sword twice but doesn't seem to hit anything as the riders both reposition. A horsechopper catches her in the back of her lower left leg, even as another does a hook-back maneuver to slash her inches from the other point for a total of 11 from both attacks. She shrieks in pain, standing unsteadily.

R2T15: Mordren heads deeper into the darkness to having lost sight of her target. Taking a place next to Reiko, she lashes out around the corner at the mounted goblin, but the corner throws off her aim and her fist impacts without effect against the goblin's studded leather.

R2T14: Bríg, your readied action did not occur. Your muted storm power full, your soothing rain now fills to capacity as well. What do you do?

R2T14: Bríg cautiously steps forward into the darkness, ready to strike should any of the unseen enemies be revealed to her. As she gets to her mark, she sees a goblin to her northeast on the strange dog-creature, and shoots down a ball of ash at the dog-mount, but misses.

R2T11: With the goblins focused on others, Reiko falls back behind Bríg. "Cleric, I am badly wounded. Help me, please."

R2T4-3: Red's mount stares into Grathar's face. This mangy canine’s face has the same flat nose, beady eyes, and protruding teeth as a rat grown grotesquely large. It bites the dwarf in the left shin and calf for 4, despite a mesmeric mirror appearing. Meanwhile, Blue moves forward and attacks the dwarf, who deflects the polearm, even as its own mount snaps at Mordren, but in the tiefling's case, the mesmeric mirror appears and then winks out when it is bitten by the weird dog.

R3T16: "Tough little rat, ah? Perhaps you need a demonstration, ah?" Aroden jeers at the spear-goblin. He arcs his blade in a windmill fashion, once around his right shoulder, once around his left, and again a few more times before he finally lashes out, purposefully undershooting as he pivots on his heel and spins around, bringing the blade to bear on the creature from the same angle. As fine as the fake-out was, sadly his swordsmanship was in error and his sword misses.

R3T14: Bríg turns towards Reiko and with a gesture summons a gentle rain down to her to fully heal the critically injured ninja. She then advances again, still looking for the unseen enemies, and in so doing, a polearm slashes at her from the northwest. A double of her appears and moves in and out and around her. Still, she finds herself face-to-face with a goblin on its ugly doggo to her northwest.

R3T11: While taking out her wakizashi she quickly follows behind Bríg before breaking the opposite direction and coming around the Blue from the other side to stab that goblin in the foot for 7. The gobbo cries out in pain and falls out of the saddle, leaving only its hideous dog-mount.

R3T4-3: Red hacks at Aroden. In doing so, the last of Aroden's tricks are revealed, and then just as quickly stripped from him by the horsechopper blade. Red's dog bites at the dwarf, dispelling the double. Dog Blue spins to bite at its master's doom, but Reiko deflects the bite with her blade, though her double is still dispelled.

Practically throwing himself at the goblin, Grathar impales himself on the very tip of the horsechopper to take 1 CON. This only incenses him, though, as he does a spinning back heel kick into the goblin's shoulder for 9, knocking her clear off of her mount to the ground, unmoving.

R5T15: Mordren cautiously advances farther into the room keeping a wary eye open for possible threats, ready to resume fighting at a moments notice. She's surprised when she just steps past the fallen goblin and mount when she sees a clump of goblins to the north of her. She gets hit in the chest with an arrow in the chest for 2, another in the left shoulder for 2, and her armored mask deflects the last one. Mordren returns fire with a magic missile, hitting the middle one in center of mass for 5 force.

He holds two fingers two his forehead, traces a sigil in the air, and places his hand on the tiefling's shoulder, before shouting back to Grathar, "Aye, fall back! Let them come to us!"

R6T15.8-.2: An arrow zips past Mordren, to quickly for Aroden to respond to. Since Mordren was attacked, but because Aroden realizes that an attack will land before he can react in her favor, he triggers the mesmeric mirror then. Good thing, because another arrow looks like it might've landed ... and the image is removed as quickly as it was applied. A third arrow misses.
