The water is alive! and it starts swirling around in a deadly vortex capturing Onka, Ahalya and Rhaksa in a swirling tower of water almost reaching Leylek, but the water is too shallow and as the creature lifts the heroes, it creates a vacuum in the vortex as it touches the grotto's floor, debris flies as the vortex breaks and sends everyone caught flying!

Reflex save DC 25 or take (2d8)[9] damage. Then the vortex collapses as the water is too shallow and sends debris and water in a cloud 30' diameter around the elemental, obscuring all vision. It is violent and sudden! The sea water becomes a splash that obscures everyone's vision!

    Raksha did not

As Ahalyā scrambled to dodge the wave, she let the concentration on Detect Magic drop. Poor Rakasha, meanwhile, got smacked in the face by the water. "Mistress, this is not wise -- we need to get to higher ground!" growled the wolf in fear.

"You first, Raksha...get to Master Shimura, I will follow!" Ahalyā cried. If the grieving yama-uba had called up an illusion, Ahalyā could perhaps have accepted it better. The fear in one's heart and soul could be given some substance, making it a worthy challenge to overcome for noble warriors unwillingly tainted by evil.

But this was a summon; this was real. And highly dangerous to all of them.

"O Ancestors, hear me! I understand the pain of this yama-uba. But this elemental should not be used as a pawn in her mad grief! Please, guide and aid me in sending it back to its home!" The shaman gathered her energies in order to attempt to Dispel the summoning.

Shimura Kias echoes through the belly of the grotto as the daimyo's Katana deals magical slashing damage to the Elemental.

It retaliates shaping segments of its body into fists of water that strike with immense speed and the hardness of rock!

Onka is fast enough to roll with the blow and absorbs the force before it gathers momentum, but Leylek is too blinded by rage to react and he is smacked with supreme force, his hollow bird bones shake with the hit and his feathers feel the abrasion of the water.

Onka thought they may have been over they're heads, but with the water rising and the spirit being they're test, they would need to stand up to it. It didn't seemed like the dancer did much damage towards the mighty water spirit but he still try'd with all his might.

With wild swings that had a lot of weight behind it, but also were plain to see and react too, Onka wallowed at the mighty adversary, trying to damage it more.

Her heart sank when her Dispel Magic failed. Was the summoning more powerful or did Ahalyā's ancestors truly wish for Leylek and Onka to partake of the yama-uba's mad test? The vanara hoped it was the former -- she still had a lot to learn. That, she could accept.

As Shimura faced the swirling form of the water elemental, he felt a surge of uncertainty grip his heart. But standing beside him, his ancestor, Mirumoto Niten, emanated an aura of calm resolve.

"Focus, Shimura," Niten's voice echoed in Shimura's mind, a steady presence amidst the chaos. "The way of the blade is not just about strength, but also about precision and clarity of mind."

Holding his katana with determination, Shimura nodded in acknowledgment, his grip steady despite the elemental's menacing presence.

With a graceful flourish, Niten stepped forward, his own blade shimmering with an ethereal light. "Watch closely, Shimura," he said, his movements fluid and deliberate as he demonstrated the techniques of the Eternal Training.

As Niten engaged the water elemental in a mesmerizing dance of steel, Shimura studied his ancestor's every move, committing the intricate forms to memory.

With each strike and parry, Shimura felt his confidence grow, his movements mirroring Niten's with increasing precision. Together, they became a formidable duo, a harmonious blend of past and present.

As the battle raged on, Shimura found himself immersed in the flow of combat, his doubts and fears melting away in the heat of the moment. With Niten's guidance, he tapped into a reservoir of strength and skill he never knew he possessed.

Flailing wildly didn't seem to work as well as the dancer hoped. He try'd to assert a bit more control, a bit more restraint to be able to hit the enemy while still swinging harder than normally. This was a summoning. Maybe we are not meant to defeat it, but to survive it. Ahalyā remembered the lion she had called to aid her in that first battle against the Crab. It did not stay forever -- it returned. Eventually, so too would this elemental.

    Eventually.

    That was cold comfort.

"O Ancestors, please grant my allies the strength to endure this battle then!" cried Ahalyā, casting the blessing of Mass Aid.

The familiar vigour from the Shaman's spirits-given power warming his body, the Crane nods at the Vanara with an odd, but unmistakeable hint of appreciation coulouring his scowl. He would rather she fled when given the chance; but in her subtle way, she is a warrior. Steadfast.

As for himselfÂ… He could observe, and with ease, that how he fights and how the Dancer fights, for that matter, who has him beat at this game usually, does little, and with much effort; they need to follow the Samurai's lead. Onkaisan! Strike harder, not more! he shrieks through the walls of the vortex as he barrels back with a prting kick, seeking to gain some space to come down with speed at the enemy from.

Onka jumps into the water and finds the right angles to hit the creature as if he could see the vital spots of the extraplanar creature hitting three times with extreme precision.

Shimura calls into his ancestral training and his eyes are open to a new understanding of how to land blows with his sacred Katana, the waters part as a living wound as the Katana strikes twice.

Ahalya's magic provides a boost and encourages to attack further knowing that the spirits protect you!

Still numbed by the painful memories of the Kamikaze, Leylek's attacks can't find the speed needed to damage the ever shaping body of water.

The elemental compresses it's mass into a tall column that whips Shimura first and then Onka like the quick falling log of a cut tree! It no longer seeks precision, only power and destruction like a savage wolverine mother backed to a corner!

Nearly in trance Onka slipped away from the strike of the water elemental like a flowing stream, he only nodded to the advice of the crane-warrior and continued his assault with heavy open-palm strikes to get more water away from the elemental. Shimura is knocked around like a rag doll, he barely manages to keep his grip on his weapons, gritting his teeth, he furrowed his brow and tensed as he was buffeting around like a leaf in the wind, except this was more like a grain of sand in a storm.

He felt something after being knocked flat, managing to catch himself under his feat, a healing hand soothes the bruised bones, and other internal injuries.

Raising back to both of his feet, water dripping off him, the small glibe of light pulsed, diminishing as a halo of fire erupted around him and then he struck back.

Leylek, in the air above is not struck this time; not his body, at least. But he can see their enemy rise up like a serpent, a death worm of the deserts, but of water and come down on his own. He can almost feel the impact, in his bones. He is tired. The memory of those waves and vortices and wind, it swirls ever more vividly in his mind. And the memory of that cold sensation, not indifference, but not even despair: that Fate will have its way and he'll suffer for it, what decended upon him when he tried to soar away, drenched and heavy with the wind of the kami all around… It is close. He knows it.

And yet! Down in the gloom, broken only by the soul-light, Shimura-sama stands once more and brings fire against the darkness and fire against the waves, the Shaman standing firm in the glow of flames and the Dancer fighting on. Yes… Fate will have its way, as it always has. But they fight as they are given to fight; and so shall Leylek Saksaghan. He turns in the air and comes down, with an irate cry and all his weight behind her clenched talons.

Onka moved with the water, bobbing and weaving, the rising water seems more to help him understanding this new enemy then hindering him. When the elemental showered Shimura-niisan the dancer jumped out of the water, hanging in the air for a fleeting moment, when his foot came crashing down unto the mass of water, he quickly pulled back and gave the elemental two more furrious palm strikes, each attack underlayed with ragged breath.

Hissing a tempest of curses under his breath, Leylek can feel his weight was indeed behind his strike – even as it sinks uselessly into a cloud of emptt vapour, with no foe underneath to suffer for it. The enemy is elsewhere, dousing the halo that burned around Shimura-sama a mere moment ago. BUt it doesn't matter: he could still see what he saw. It is not yet over.

Shimura had armor, the birb had his wings.

Raksha glanced over towards her mistress on the rock outcropping. She appeared safe...for now. So, the wolf tried her best to distract the uncaring waters in order to protect Onka. It seemed as good a plan as any.

Meanwhile, Ahalyā seemed torn by indecision on what to do next. At least, Shimura seemed well for the time being, though the elemental doused the samurai's fiery wreath. Will each of these Sisters 'test' us in kind then should we survive this?
