"It's not very fast, though... Might be along in a minute or two."

Runa leads them around the back of the barn to the area behind the house.

Runa in the lead (and still invisible), the four of you make your way along the side of the long structure, the cornfield only about 25' to your right. You come to the far end and curve around it.

At the point where Ekemon and Wol can see the well with their longer-ranged darkvision, there are also a couple of scattered trees in view, and, to your northwest, the edge of what appears to be a small pond. To the north, the cornfield wraps around towards the pond.

Ekemon and Kyros move towards the well, while Runa (invisible) and Mia stay back near the building. When they are about 25' from the well, you all hear a strange-sounding roar, then a steady rumbling growl, as though from some great beast. Two close-set white eyes glow about 5’ above the ground near the north side of the large round building, at the edge of Ekemon's darkvision. They're bright enough that he can't make out any details behind them.

Kynos lead by example and brought the well between himself and the howling enemy

Ekemon shines light towards the oncoming creature, but the light its eyes casts is brighter than his wand. A few seconds pass as it draws closer. As it comes into the range of your lights, you see a grey rectangular face shielded by orange bars beneath the lights, and two arms holding up a great rectangular shovel-blade as though it’s a hammer. A pair of tails drag behind it, just above the ground.

Mia isn't sure what to do, so she gets ready to Dodge.

Kyros moves laterally to put the well between himself and whatever it is, and hurls a javelin. It hits and bounces off the metal-armored flank of the foe. Runa has better luck, dashing forward to stab at it its front, causing an aura of magical energy to spring up around her. Unfortunately, her retreat is less guarded, and it drops its arms down with the heavy metal shovel-head acting as a bludgeon, knocking Runa flat.

Runa crawls out of the way just in time. With a rumbling roar, it moves forwards, the blades mounted at the back of the beast cutting Runa as her magic goes off with a boom. It curves around the well, appearing to chase after Kynos as the light from its eyes illuminate him. Raising its weapon into the air, it brings it down once again, squarely on Kynos' head with a piledriving blow that slams him to the ground.

"For the holy Moons of Selune!" - Mia cried, shocked at the beating her companions were taking.

She shrugged off the stupor that got her, she ran to try to reach her companions while conjuring the divine magic of her goddess in the form of a weapon: a translucent mace with the four main phases of the moon carved on the sides. She then commands the mace to attack whatever creature was the one they were facing. Aiding the mace, she also sent a ray of divine light against the creature.

Ekemon's longer-ranged darkvision reveals a wooden dock extending out over the pond. At the end of it is a small platform with rails, and upon it stands a ghostly bearded man with another tube-and-triangle thing in his hands, overalls, boots, and a sword in his chest. He hears the man over the roar of the monster calling something about "Whatever you're after, you won't find what you want here" as he begins to raise his tube.

Near the edge of the pond are also four fishing poles mounted on posts, apparently trot lines.
Map size limitations kept me from realizing how close Ekemon was

Ekemon pulls out his sword and moves towards the thing, slashing at it and unleashing a magical shockwave that dents it and somehow flings it onto its side with a clatter and thud.

The beast spins its wheels and swings its bucket, using that and the bar folded under it to slowly push itself back to upright, landing heavily. It rolls forward again and starts to turn around the well and skeleton, unable to line up a straight shot at anyone.
