"Looks like it goes up," Yorrel says to Myrus. "Probably not useful. I suppose we could try climbing up and finding a different chimney elsewhere in this lair to climb down and surprise the goblins through... but there's no guarantee any other openings would be large enough for us, and if they heard us trying, they could just jab spears up the chimneys or bottleneck us as we came out."

"We're gonna get you out of here, okay guys?" Lonnie whispers to the wolves. "Just go out and be free." She starts to unknot the collars, still giving soothing words and gentle reassurances to the wolves.

I'm assuming the collars aren't that hard to undo. If they are, I'll ask a teammate for assistance, considering Lonnie's less than stellar physical statline.

I am free, she says quietly, while wondering if she may have run free like the wolves if she hadn’t been with people at the time who could take her in.

Myrus looks inside the small space and grunts. Then he looks around the cavern again, "I'm not liking climbing as the only option but maybe someone more agile can scamper up there and scout for danger?"

"Hey Netish, you coming?" Sigrún says, giving her a nudge and walking towards the chimney-like structure before turning back and giving her a wink, "Nobody I'd rather have watching my back than a fellow person with anger issues."

Sigrún then addressed the others. "If it's safe to come up, we'll drop a rope down for the rest of you. If it isn't safe, you'll... probably just hear a lot of goblins dying to be honest."

She then begins to climb.

Maria just waits and keeps alert. She herself might be able to climb the chimney but she doubts the others will let her without someone on top. So she just waits.

Walking around the cave looking for anything that stands out Myrus notices the passageway continues further. He walks back to the others saying, "The route we took in continues on giving us another way in rather than climbing. I'll check it out."

Myrus girds himself for trouble mumbling a prayer to Tempus and stalks carefully down the narrow passageway.

Della nods: "It's a good idea. But I'll come with you, it's best not to be alone down here." - she says, following Myrus.

Smelkie scurries up the stairs. Let me go first. I have a keen eye for any foul play these goblins might have in store for us. Dagger between his teeth he starts the ascend.

Sigrún and Netish

Sigrún and Netish easily begin scaling the chimney. Without the light directly nearby it's a little hard to see for the goliath, but soon you find yourselves at the top. The cavern in front of you is larger than the one you just climbed out of. You are on the Western side of the room and some stalagmites nearby could provide cover for sneaking a little further into the room.

The floor slopes up from here and you can see the goblins have piled supplies from those they have ambushed in the south eastern corner. In the center of the room a large fire smolders, the only reason Sigrún can even see in here. A bugbear sits by the fire on a makeshift chair of old crates. He holds a chain with another collared wolf at the end, a mangy beast slightly larger than the two you freed. He barks a command and you see a number of goblins, five or six at most, rushing back and forth. They seem to be serving him food.

Della and Myrus

Though indeed you can see the tunnel leads on, without a light source you would be navigating in complete darkness. You can tell, though, that the tunnel gradually turns to the east

"Should we go introduce ourselves?" Sigrún whispers to Netish, a mischievous grin stretching across her lips.

We could. But I do not think they are looking for more company, and I do not want what they are eating.

Lonnie looks at the two without night sight going forward. "Need a hand? Or some eyes?" she asks, walking up with them.

Giving Netish a wink, Sigrún steps towards the fire. "What do you think you're doing? What idiot left horses on the road?" she says in goblinspeak, feigning anger and disappointment, "King Grol sent us here to pick up the prisoners and not only are you inviting unwanted attention, you're just sitting around stuffing your face???"

So she uses the power of her blood to cause the fire to bloom up as she steps up beside Sigrun.

Myrus grunted again and looked back at his teammate, "Just stay back there. I don't need you in my way."

Looking back into the darkness Myrus began humming an ancient hymn of Tempus. Then he yelled, "FOEHAMMER!" and a brilliant blast of fiery divine energy erupted roughly sixty feet ahead of him illuminating the passage before dwindling to nothing in seconds!

Della calmly lits up one of her torches: "Honey, there is no need to yell. We risk either alerting every single goblin in the cave, or the cave itself collapsing on our head." - she says to Myrus, before proceeding forward.

Yorrel is waiting by the fissure with Maria when she hears Myrus shouting.

A fight already?

"Stay behind me," she tells Maria, then rushes out of the room.

"Get back!" she cries, running out into the main passage. "The flood trap, remember?!"

Then she notices there isn't actually a fight happening.

"Wait... why were you shouting?"

With the 2 barbarians engaging with the golbins Smelkie find a hiding spot and readies his bow, aiming for anything that comes up charging their team. He looks around

"Eh...." Myrus looks back at his teammates, "A simple lantern or torch would probably be best. Tempus would appreciate our ingenuity and valor. I shout to let the enemy know their destruction is nigh. They must know war is upon them. Don't be afraid my friends. I will protect you."

"Announcing our presence in the middle of an enemy's trap is the opposite of protecting us," Yorrel says. "And this is a rescue, not a war. I'm going to wait for the others—we shouldn't let ourselves be split too far."

She walks back into the side cavern.

The bugbear is confused, staring between the two Barbarians with little understanding. The goblins are cowed, hiding behind serving trays. Finally, the bugbear stands King Grol got his dwarf and we kept the human. So who the hell are you?

Smelkie finds a deep shadow and doesn't seem to be noticed.

Della lights her torch and you see that the tunnel continues, curving eastwards. Further down and across the stream you can see another cavern opening. Even further down stream, you can see a bridge spanning 20 feet above the tunnel

"So the dwarf has already been picked up? Good, at least someone around here is competent."

Sigrún then steps up to the bugbear, her full eight feet of height possibly towering over him, "We're here for the human, idiot. Who is he? Why was he travelling with the dwarf? What does he know? A certain black spider would very much like to find out and you're too stupid to do it so we're here to take him."

Maria follows Yorrel, Della and Myrus but cringes when she heard the light spell being cast and seeing that they was no need to get all worked up about nothing. She is quiet and alert and sees the bridge. The girl nods in agreement with Della whispers, "I agree. Let's see how Sigrun and Netish are doing."
