    Sabian helps to bring supplies to the makeshift wall; quivers, stones, javelins, to make sure defenders are equipped to fend off a serious attack. He relieves a defender for an hour, then another when the other returns. Taking position, he makes sure there are some quivers and javelins nearby as he tries out the longbow he was given. The Shield of the Unyielding is strapped to his back, and he still has his spear and warhammer in case the fighting gets close.

    He looks out into the surrounding lands. His vision only goes so far in the dark. He wonders if pyres would make sense, or only draw more attention to Veros. It's hard to know without knowing what's really out there in the wilderness. Those spiders that could phase would be disastrous if they attacked the village in numbers, or more gargoyles that could simply fly over and repel many of the defenders' attacks. A commotion distracts him from his thoughts, and he turns to see Mustafa rallying the others. The man is passionate, and Sabian appreciates that. He is used to simply soldering on, and doing what has to be done, and not thinking too much about it, or feeling too much about it for that matter. He raps his spear against the wall as the climax of Mustafa's speech as others cheer and holler.

    He turns back to the outside, and hopes that the previous attacks on Veros were simply happenstance, and not what he really feared; advance forces testing the settlement's defenses for a larger attack.

    Mustafa encourages the guards in their section, while Sabian is a silent bulwark in his own way. You're guarding the north edge of town. Sabian and the bulk of the guards are on the longest stretch of wall, while Mustafa and one guard are posted atop the wall blocking the northern road.

    An hour passes, then another half-hour. Out of the darkness, arrows fly at Sabian's large wall section, as well as at Mustafa's. All of them pass over the wall, or strike the wall and stick. A cold skeletal hand appears next to Mustafa, attempting to strangle him, but with the wall giving him less room to guard, he's able to block it. A spectral wolf appears a moment later, and attempts to leap at him, but instead falls to the ground silently.

    Cassandra summons a glowing ball of flames, but it doesn't illuminate anything moving that she can see.
    The guards near Sabian and Cassandra dodge. The one near Mustafa drops his spear and grabs a bow-quick-firing an at the spectral wolf and striking deep into its shoulder. "Magic wolf! Inside the walls!"

    The undead spellcaster grows a little closer, and Mustafa feels himself become a little clumsier, and another spectral hand tries to grasp him, this time getting him around the neck. He feels cold all over and almost passes out. The archer skeletons move up into shortbow range and fire some arrows (two being dimly illuminated by the flaming sphere), while the hound rises from the ground and jumps through and onto the firing ledge before solidifying and attacking again. Two of the guards have arrows stick in the wall just inches below them in a pair of close calls.

    Mustafa gasped for air as the spectral hand choked him. Freezing cold filled his lungs, and he immediately wondered what the soldiers would think if he fell so fast. Where was the fire that burned in his heart, after all? That dark magic kept him from calling upon his healing magic, which scared him much more than any mundane wound.

    Raising his scepter high in the air, Mustafa summoned his remaining strength to conjure the biggest fire his god allowed him to. Once the spell was cast, he ducked behind the battlements.

    Sabian can hear a commotion at the other end, but no sounds of a losing battle. The others should be able to handle a single wolf behind the wall. He peers back out across the way and tells the guards, Put out the torches near you. Makes no sense to be a target while they remain outside of our view. Either they'll come closer where we can hit them, or they'll stay out there. Once I can see them, I'll give you the go ahead to relight the torches. He thinks to himself that for the next night, they should have torches outside the wall, to illuminate the way to the wall, but not necessarily the defenders on the wall. He snuffs out the torch nearest him and remains behind cover on the wall.

    Mustafa's flaming sphere hits the skeletal caster, although it dodges out of the way (save-1). He retreats to the eastern edge of the wall.
    Sabian douses a torch. It's now very dark for them, although Cassandra's sphere does light up one skeleton for them to attack next round. Cassandra tags the hound with a bit of flame (1 damage).

    The skeletal caster dashes away from the flaming sphere and out of your sight. The hound pursues Mustafa, hopping back up on the wall to attack him. It snaps at him with shadowy jaws, but he manages to interpose his shield.

    The other two skeletons fire arrows and move slightly away from the flaming sphere, almost hitting the guard; both arrows are caught or deflected by his light armor.

    The skeletons facing Sabian spread out, firing at the guards, and deal a minor injury to one.

    Mustafa pulled his holy symbol towards him, as if dragging the flaming sphere closer. "The mage retreated! Right wing, take cover! Mind the central lane!" In between sidesteps and shield bashes against the hound's snapping teeth, Mustafa waved to the soldier on his right (G2) to make sure he was being heard: "I said take cover!" He cried at the top of his lungs.

    The spellcaster was their priority, and Mustafa wouldn't allow it to play in the shadows anymore. His House was known for their fire magic, the most volatile and destructive of the elements, but a bigger flame wasn't always what one needed to hunt creatures of the night. That's why the Hanim developed other techniques, more subtle spells to deal with more specific situations.

    He raised his scepter, ready to cast a follow-up spell.

    At 1st level, you can interpose divine light between yourself and an attacking enemy. When you are attacked by a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll, causing light to flare before the attacker before it hits or misses. An attacker that can't be blinded is immune to this feature.

    Edit: I just realized Faerie Fire is also Concentration based, so I'll use the Bonus Action first (just to get a glimpse of the illuminated area) and then cast Faerie Fire, ending the duration of Flaming Sphere.

    Mustafa moves the Flaming Sphere back, but it doesn't illuminate anything new closer to the wall that he can see. He casts Faerie Fire, but the 20' cube doesn't appear to create lights that stick to anything.

    Sabian fires an arrow at one skeleton, striking it.

    Cassandra attacks the hound, striking it with her whip, as she calls the flaming sphere closer to the wall.

    A spectral hand appears, attacking one of the guards close to Sabian, but it misses.
    The hound attacks Mustafa, who flares bright magic in its face, causing the spectral beast to miss.
    The two archers in front of Mustafa's section of the wall shoot arrows at him, then move farther back. He's not able to see them coming, so one hits; Mustafa collapses.
    The two skeletons in front of Sabian's section of the wall do likewise, and one of the guards staggers back, bleeding heavily, then collapses.
    The guard Cassandra left alone gives a shout of fright. You hear scrabbling noises and thumps as something climbs the wall. "Wolf-men!"

    Watch it! Sabian calls out as a spectral hand appears near one of the guards. He hears a thud beside him and turns to see one of the other guards lying motionless on the wall with an arrow in him. Damn! He takes aim at the only enemy he can see and lets loose another arrow. You, move to his other side and stop the bleeding. You, help him! Stay down behind the wall and take cover while you're doing it. Sabian orders to the two guards to hunker down and help the dying guard. Looking back to the front, his arrow had gone wide, Cass, northeast! Move the sphere northeast! he shouts to his comrade.

    Cassandra, upon hearing Sabian's call, does as she is bade as she runs back to the other guard. She isn't going to leave him alone against multiple enemies. "I'm sorry Mustafar! I'll be back in a second!" As she gets the right angle, she conjures a large pool of grease on the wolfweres and yells at the guard to get out of there.

    I don't see any enemies, Sabian says to the other guards. He nods at one of them, Stay here and keep watch, call out anything you see. To the other he says, You and I will go help the others. With that he hops off the wall and runs to the other side, Hang on Cass, we're coming! To the guard he says, Let me know when you've opened the second door!

    Sabian starts running through the house to get to Cassandra. She knocks one of the wolfweres back. It takes a bit more damage as it starts running, but vaults up over the wall and out. The other one, less injured, leaps up on the wall to attack the guard, but loses its balance

    The wolfwere takes off, scrambling over the wall before Sabian can stab out. The longbow is on the ground behind him. Sabian climbs up the wall but the wolfwere is nearly out of sight. He moves over to Mustafa and helps him sit up, Hey, how're you doing? Hey Cass, you alright?
