    Mustafa moves into some underbrush, and calls holy flame to burn the creature to the west (7 damage to W5). Chloe misses the same creature with acid, but does tag it with a ball of force from her servant (6 damage).

    Cassandra prepares to dodge the incoming attacks, while directing her flaming sphere at the same target; it dodges, but fur still burns (4 damage). Vidrik contributes a solid hit with his crossbow (23), and Sabian rushes at it. Burned twice, blasted, and shot, it can't get out of his way, and Sabian's spear takes it through the throat. It collapses to the ground; as it dies, it turns from a humanoid wolf-man into a simple wolf with multiple injuries and a gaping wound in its throat.

    The rest of the pack snarl and yip in anger. Two of them charge at Sabian, running straight at him and then leaping to the attack in a flurry of claws and teeth, drawing blood twice. One jumps at Cassandra, but she agilely twists out of the way of both attacks. The last flanker goes for Chloe, as she's closest, but she sees it coming and is able to keep it from hitting her.

    Mustafa continued to advance, briefly glancing over his shoulder to make sure his comrades weren't overwhelmed with wolves behind him. "Chloe! You okay back there?!" He asked while he hustled, not waiting for her reply as he positioned himself in a way to align the two wolves that attacked Sabian. A tongue of flames erupted from the moon-and-star on his holy symbol and burned a 15-foot cone in front of him.

    Mustafa's flames wash over both wolfweres, causing them to howl in pain, and lighting some bushes on fire (15 damage x 2). Chloe catches the one near her with flames, as well.
    Cassandra hits the wolfwere in front of her, knocking it back and setting up a charge of energy, then guides her Flaming Sphere into another one (4 at end of turn to W4; then 2 to W4 and W1 each).

    Vidrik shoots the one next to Chloe, striking it in the kidneys (CRIT for 38).
    Sabian stabs the wolfwere in front of him (18), then knocks it prone.

    The wolfwere Cassandra had struck yelps, but chases after the newly-appeared Vidrik, leaping at him. The in front of Chloe turns and leaps over the bushes (Chloe OA if wielding melee weapon), to join him.

    The other two scatter away from the flaming sphere, one moving between Mustafa and Cassandra (Sabian OA), attacking each once, and the other going after Sabian (Cassandra OA), who just stabbed it.

    Sabian's opportunity attack hits (10). Mustafa swings his holy symbol at the wolfwere (hit for 7). Chloe isn't as lucky, not managing to cause any injury... but at least nothing's trying to kill her right now.

    Cassandra's opportunity attack against #4 hits (8). Her whip cracks out, knocking the other wolf away from her (9), and her flaming sphere hits the earlier wolf (4).

    Vidrik circles around, risking a blow to line up a shot. It's a good shot though, his stake killing the wolfwere in front of him and carrying on to the one behind him (13 damage to W3).

    Sabian finishes off the burnt wolf behind him, then rams his shield into the wolf near Mustafa and pushes it farther back before moving closer to the middle of the battlefield.

    The shoved and pushed-around werewolf lunges after Sabian, but dies as the magical resonance left behind by Cassandra kills it. Only one wolf is left, and it circles to the side before rushing at Vidrik. It bites him, but the bite isn't very bad.

    Continuing your travels through the woods, you reach Veros around 1pm after 6 hours of travel.

    Veros is a mining village located in the foothills of the Carpathian Range. The mountain nearby used to hold a corresponding dwarven city, complete with a tunnel under the mountains that passed by the gates of the dwarven city. Unfortunately, the underground city was destroyed in an earthquake over 100 years ago, killing its inhabitants. The nearby path survived – somehow – but Veros itself never recovered from the immediate region losing 3/4ths of its population and the bulk of its expert miners.

    A long straight path leads through the woods to the riverside southwest of Veros, where refined ores can be loaded onto barges, which are then towed upstream.

    The outskirts of the village show signs of damage, and even fire in a few places. However, an interior perimeter has been completely fortified using logs, planks, and furniture to build a ten foot high wall with firing positions behind it. The guards on it - mostly humans - spot you as you arrive. They appear to have spears and bows at the ready.

    Vidrik steps forward to address the guards. He keeps his crossbow unloaded and dropped at his side, pointed at the ground. He speaks out and tells the truth, ready to flee if that turns out to be a bad idea.

    Sabian steps forward and picks up the coin, displaying it for everyone to see in his palm, and then gripping it. We've been waylayed the entire way here. Zombies, skeletons, spiders, wolves, and worse. We tried for Holmwood Tower, but it fell. We hoped by the Light that Veros was far enough away to have fared better. After they tell him the time is up, Sabian passes the coin to someone else.

    Cassandra takes the coin from Sabian and presses it firmly against her bare skin. "We are no shapeshifters trying to sneak our way in," she reassures the guards, "We were there when the forces of darkness attacked the Order. I don't even know how we survived this long, but I am glad to see you have too."

    She passes the coin onto someone else and then lifts the Vampire Killer for the guards to see. "Do you recognise this weapon? Only a Hartdegen may wield it, only a servant of the Order. Now that I know you have survived, know I would lay down my life for any of yours. We all would. Such is our duty."

    Mustafa was genuinely happy at the sight of people - actual people! He could barely contain himself. "I will gladly undergo your test." He let the silver coin rest on his palm, visible to the guards. "However I am sorry bear these dark words, but you mustn't rely on this for the sake of your safety. There are plenty of shapeshifters and tricksters in these dark nights that can endure the touch of silver. If you're to judge our intentions, I beg you do it by our deeds, our spirits, our intentions."

    He raised his holy symbol alongside Cassandra and the Vampire Killer. "We bring a light in the dark, the fire that burns the Enemy, a spark of hope for those who are still willing to fight! Break bread with us, and we shall heal your wounded, secure your defenses, and enlighten your village against the forces of hell that have taken over this province."
