    In the east,
    Cassandra's flames wash over the zombies, then Vidrik shoots one before retreating.

    In the west,
    Chloe and her construct do a small amount of damage. One of the zombies lurches at the right time, and dodges the acid. Sabian stabs the zombie in front of him, almost killing it... but it's not ready to die yet (ZA succeeded on Undead Fortitude save). Mustafar burns two of them, but again, they don't go down (ZA passes Undead Fortitude save; ZB saved for half damage).

    The eastern zombies lurch after Cassandra and Vidrik.

    The western zombies crowd around Sabian and Mustafar.

    Mustafa adjusted his position to cover Sabian's flank and stepped into the zombie's attack, raising his shield to throw its blow out of the way. The other zombie got through his stance, but not through the millimeters of steel that protected his shoulder. Mustafa immediately swung his Holy Symbol back at it.

    The power of the holy symbol wielded by Mustafar causes the zombie he strikes to instantly de-animate and be at rest again. Cassandra hits another zombie with some flame.

    Chloe's acid splash targets ZB & ZD, and her homonculus hits ZD, leaving it barely functioning (1hp). Sabian's strike also leaves another zombie quite near destruction. Vidrik's shot cleanly destroys his target's head.

    The eastern zombies shamble in pursuit.

    The western zombies continue to try to bring down the meals so close in front of them, slamming bodily into them and knocking them to the ground. Their armor still holds!

    In the blink of an eye, the zombies switch from bashing the shield to gripping it and reaching around it. Sabian can feel them pulling and dragging at him before he falls to the ground under their weight. He continues lashing out with the spear and is able to stand back up before impaling another zombie.

    Mustafar stands and smites the zombie next to him, destroying it with a flash of light. With it falling, Cassandra launches a bolt of fire at the zombie standing next to it, killing it. Chloe then flings acid on the other 2 (each hit for 4), her homonculus following up with a bolt of force. Sabian stabs the zombie next to him, but it doesn't quite go down (Undead Fortitude nat 20'd). Vidrik shoots the one in the fire.

    Both zombies attack Sabian, without success.

    Minute 11, fight zombies (that was around 5 combat rounds / 1/2 minute) -> Minute 12
    Descending the stairs, you see a group of four skeletons (three normal skeletons and one bearing a staff) starting to come up it as you reach the landing to the rear hall. Looking down the hall, whoever is in the front of the party can see four more skeletons ascending the stairs at the east end.

    There are also 6 more zombies in the hall, and the doors to the Great Hall and Barracks stand open (map here). Although you're not near them, you can hear scraping and rasping sounds as though something large is moving around inside the Great Hall. Wisps of yellow-green fog trail out of the Barracks door.
    In the far distance, you hear an animalistic voice chanting in a rising crescendo. It ends with a sound like that of a pane of glass shattering into a hundred pieces.

    Sabian turns the landing and comes face to face with a skeleton warrior. His shield comes up immediately, and a quick glance beyond reveals more skeletons and zombies down the hall, and others going up the far stairs to the second level. More of 'em, in the corridor and heading up on the far side. And one of 'em is carrying a staff, Sabian calls to the others before brandishing his warhammer.

    Impressed by Sabian’s display, Cassandra moves forward and stands by his side with a nod of acknowledgement of his warnings. She then flicks the Vampire Killer towards the skeleton wielding a staff and says “Leave the spells to me, Bones.”

    Sabian's hammer smashes the first skeleton in line. Cassandra, just behind him, hops down into the hall and lashes out at the staff-bearing skeleton before backing up. One of the skeletons in the front line slashes at her successfully as she fails to disengage cleanly, drawing blood. Mustafar blocks any follow-up attacks, smashing the offending skeleton to smithereens and healing her with a word.

    The other skeleton slashes out at Mustafar with its sword, drawing blood. Down the hallway, the group of skeletons at the other stairs turn, and launch arrows at the party's front line. Sabian barely deflects one with his shield. Mustafar isn't as lucky, and one finds its way past his armor.

    Chloé rushes down the stairs to follow the others, lobbing another pair of acid flasks over their heads to strike at the undead. Her throwing arm was getting more workout today than it had in weeks, but at least she could be sure she was putting it to good use. They had to close to the staff-wielder, in case it was some sort of spellcaster.

    Vidrik's heavy stake strikes home. Chloe's acid hits both skeletons, but just barely. Alas, quality consistent ingredients can be hard to get. Her homonculus also scores a blow.

    The zombies shamble down the hall.

    The staff-bearing skeletons reveal your fears to be true. The closer one casts a spell, and time warps around the group as the air becomes thick and movement slowed. It backs away from you, and then with a *pop* switches places with one of the approaching zombies. The one at the far end of the hall moves closer and casts a spell. The stones under your feet warp with a cracking, sucking noise into razor-sharp spikes.

    Sabian's eyes go wide as a lethargy washes over him and the skeletons seem to move much faster. Spikes grow out of the stonework around him, but he can't move past the skeleton in front of him, and he isn't sure how far he could make it moving so slowly. He raises the warhammer and tries to bring it down with as much force as he can, despite the magical effect on him.

    After thanking Mustafa for his help, Cassandra notices everything to slow down. “I… don’t… feel… so… good…” Cassandra says as the words struggle to leave her mouth. The skeleton she had struck before was now casting some surprisingly high level magic, so Cassandra tries to focus on it and attack it with a spell despite the fact she doesn’t know if she can do it fast enough. With all these thorns surrounding the group, however, she can’t move closer.

    Mustafa didn't know how much longer he would last in battle, but he knew his duty was simple: to hold the frontline while the artillery lay fire on the enemies. With that and only that in mind, he raised his shield and focused on parrying the blows away.

    Sabian strikes out at the skeleton in front of him, but it deflects his blow with its sword. Cassandra's jet of flame brings down the closer skeleton wizard, ending the Slow effect on the group. Mustafar, badly injured, casts a spell of warding on himself.

    Unfortunately for Mustafar, the skeleton facing the party seems to overcome the spell, and attacks him. The cleric manages to interpose his shield.
    Whether by spell or by chance, all the arrows fly at Sabian, and none of them pierce his defenses.

    Rolled in Discord, random targeting, then rolled the Wis save and it got a 19 on the dice.
