    Looking at them now, how they'd been slowly whittled away at by zombies that - even if they hadn't done that much - had still held them back, Chloé doesn't fancy her chances against a dragon of all things. She wants to save others, but throwing their lives away on a suicidal charge would be...well, suicidal. Her hand goes to the Decanter at her side, a holy relic she was charged not just with using, but protecting. "We should not fight the dragon, we'll have to find another way."

    Finding himelf suddenly awake, Mustafa immediately starts thinking about his family out there, and how many of his siblings might have fallen already. Still, if they managed to take on the thick of the invasion, maybe the others could be saved.

    He shook his head vigorously, finally letting go of Cassandra's shoulder and standing up on his own. The adrenaline of battle immediately came back to his blood once the sleeping charm wore off, as he didn't waste any time before chugging two of the healing potions Chloe had just gathered. With the strength returning to his muscles, he grabbed his shield and ran to the door. "If there's really a dragon on the other side, you better stay clear from its breath. Time to find out how powerful is the magic of this shield."

    Sabian holds the door shut despite the scratching and thumping of zombies and skeletons on the far side. When everyone is ready, he yanks it open and steps to the side.
    Cassandra steps up and fires a cone of flame towards the stairs, hoping to clear their way out (hits the most enemies), while Chloe flings a flask of acid and Vidrik fires another heavy bolt. The flames wash over the enemies, mostly zombies, and Vidrik's bolt shatters the sternum of the skeleton in front of the door before destroying a zombie. Chloe's acid splash hits a pair of zombies, creating an acrid scent of melted flesh.

    I'm fudging things a bit in that Cassandra is getting to step up to the door as Sabian sidesteps, but I think it's reasonable.

    Sabian inhales at the wrong time and ends up spending his turn trying to get a good breath instead of swinging his weapon, and Cassandra has similar luck.

    Mustafar advances into the hall, challenging the undead to attack him. The skeleton attempts to oblige, but then finds itself confused and does nothing.

    Vidrik's stake launcher deanimates another zombie. Chloe holds her breath, ducking into the cloud while she flings acid, then moves back out.

    Changed Chloe's move slightly to retarget Z3 & S5. Z3 is hit for 4, S5 saves with the 13+2. Homunculus hits Z3. She still has the speed to move back.


    All of the undead in the hallway try to attack Mustafar, who has so obviously offered himself up. Fortunately, either his ward prevents them from attacking, or they miss, although a jet of cold does briefly freeze some of the stinking cloud right in front of his eyes.

    Whether for sheer luck or for the mercy the gods, Mustafa stood unharmed at the door of the Lab. Blows glanced off his blessed shield, attacks were repelled by the law of Sanctuary he had evoked and that still cloaked him against any harm; Part of him didn't even believe it was real, still in denial and hoping, madly, he might still be able to save his family from the attack.

    It was only when Vidrik's voice broke through the darkness that Mustafa stepped out of his frenzy. His vision was red, his blood rushing with adrenaline. A mad laugh escaped from his lips after another glow glanced off his shield. "How can I step back, Vidrik?" He was interrupted by a violent cough, and his voice grew gruffier under the effect of the smoke. "When I brings me so much pleasure to humiliate them?"

    But the attack didn't stop. Mustafa was one, and the monsters were many, and more and more would come. He stepped back, always holding his shield forward, bashing it against their blows and keeping his position even in retreat. "Come, then, fiends! You cannot kill me! You cannot harm me! You do not exist!" He banged his crescent moon scepter against his shield. He wasn't sure whether zombies could see in the dark, but damn it, they would hear him.

    Sabian's swing in the fog misses. Cassandra retreats into the room. Taunting the foe once more, Mustafar retreats into the room.

    The skeleton follows him in, swinging its sword though the fog, but failing to even come close to hitting any living being.

    Vidrik's shot into the yellow fog goes wide. Chloe has better luck, but the previously untouched skeleton doesn't go down.

    You all hear more shuffling and thumping noises from the hall and the doorway as the zombies move in. One actually emerges from the cloud next to Sabian ans another slams against his shield, but nobody gets hurt.

    Sabian strikes the zombie on front of him, but can't disable it. Cassandra dashes through the cloud, coiling her whip and lashing out as soon as she reaches the far side, and destroys the skeletal caster. The stinking cloud disappears.
    Mustafar, protected by his spell, dodges.

    The skeleton tries to attack him anyway, but the ward redirects the skeleton's attack to Sabian, who doesn't manage to dodge the sudden redirection.

    Vidrik's shot is true, and the zombie collapses like a puppet with its strings cut. Chloe's magic damages three separate enemies, but doesn't bring any of them down. The zombie closest to her claws at her as she moves past it.

    Sabian destroys the skeleton in front of him, smashing it to pieces, and Cassandra does the same to the spellcaster out in the hall. The cloud of noxious gas disappears. Mustafar runs out into the hallway, although the zombies swipe at him as he passes.

    The zombie dodges the initial jet of flame, then seems to forget about it, as both undead in the room focus on Sabian. It gets burned, but is not dead.
