    Lanius was fast, but he wasn't going to run up the column like that. Shooting at someone, who likely would just return his arrows, wasn't a good idea either. So he stepped into cover and instead munched down on a handful of good berries.

    Merry's spell lands with full force, causing the top of the pillar to erupt in dust, but not breaking it (13->6).
    Jessica is stunned.
    Hyra's celestial would have hit, but it's deflected (just noticed that it's a ranged weapon attack, not a spell attack). Lanius hides.

    Jessica and Merry see the ghostly figure approach. He launches several punches and kicks, seeming to connect despite not being close enough to hit.

    Merry's summoned hand misses, as does Lanius's sword-stroke. Jessica strikes a telling blow, and Hyra's god honors her wishes by turning her into a dragon for one minute.

    Nearly surrounded, he lashes out at Jessica repeatedly, finally stunning her before moving away.

    Lanius fires a pair of arrows, but the old man seems to move between them (misses).

    He counter-attacks, striking her once and attempting to stun her, before moving away and attacking the stunned Lanius, knocking him unconscious and then finishing him off empting to finish off Lanius.

    Hyra moves close, summoning a spiritual hammer that misses; one Celestial arrow does score a hit (hit for 16). Jessica smites him with a glowing blade. Lanius fires three arrows, but all miss. Merry tuns Lanius invisible, but the paladin seems to not care (he has true sight).

    The paladin mutters a quick prayer to empower his weapon further, but Merry Counterspells it (Counterspell: 3rd level). He then swings his sword twice at Hyra.
