Default [PF2e] Rogue: Shadow Assassin Racket (PEACH)

    Shadow Assassin Racket
Due to your heritage, an encounter with the God of Death, or stepping into a different plane, you have a link to the Plane of Shadows and by forcing your will upon the shadows, you become more than a thief or a brute. When you attack with a finesse melee weapon, you can add your Dexterity modifier to damage rolls instead of your Strength modifier.

    You are trained in Deception.

You lose the Sneak Attack feature and gain the Assassin's Shroud feature.

    Assassin's Shroud [Free Action]
    [Rogue]

You command the shadows around your target to betray them, making your attacks more deadly and dealing extra damage. Once on each of your turns, you can apply an Assassin's Shroud to a creature that you can see within 50 feet. These Shrouds last for 10 minutes and you can have a maximum of four applied to a single target at one time. Applying a Shroud to a new creature removes all other shrouds you may have applied.

You can choose to activate all or none of your shrouds when you Strike a creature that has a Shroud on it with an agile or finesse melee weapon, an agile or finesse unarmed attack, or a ranged weapon attack. Until the start of your next turn, each attack you make against the target deals an extra 1d4 precision damage for each Assassin's Shroud currently applied to it. If a Strike misses, your Assassin's Shrouds deal damage as if you had one less shroud on the target. For a ranged attack with a thrown melee weapon, that weapon must also be agile or finesse.

As your rogue level increases, so does the number of damage dice for your Assassin's Shroud. Increase the number of dice by one at 5th, 11th, and 17th levels.

Changed Feats for Shadow Assassin Racket

The following feats have slight wording changes to allow their use with the Shadow Assassin Racket.

    Magical Trickster (Feat 4)
    [Rogue]
Whether you’re using magic items, wielding innate magic, or dabbling in spellcasting, you can sneak spells past your foes’ defenses as easily as any blade. When you succeed at a spell attack roll against a foe’s AC that is subject to your Assassin's Shroud and the spell deals damage, you can add your Assassin's Shroud damage to the damage roll. If your single spell leads to multiple separate damage rolls, apply your assassin's shroud damage only once per target.

    Twist the Knife (Feat 6)
    [Rogue]
Requirements: Your last action was a melee Strike that dealt Assassin's Shroud damage.
After stabbing your opponent in a weak spot, you tear the wound open. You deal persistent bleed damage to the target equal to your number of Assassin's Shroud damage dice.

    Dispelling Slice (Feat 16)
    [Rogue]
Your Assassin's Shroud slices through the threads binding magic to a target. Make a Strike against a creature that is affected by your Assassin's Shroud (your choice). If your Strike deals Assassin's Shroud damage, you attempt to counteract a single spell active on the target. Your counteract level is equal to your rogue level, and your counteract check modifier is equal to your class DC – 10.

    Powerful Sneak (Feat 18)
    [Rogue]
You have learned to exploit your enemies’ lowered defenses. When you succeed or critically succeed at a Strike using your Strength modifier on the attack roll and you would deal Assassin's Shroud damage, you can change the additional damage from Assassin's Shroud into ordinary damage of the same type as your Strike, rather than precision damage.

New Feats for Shadow Assassin Racket

The following feats are added to the rogue class feat choices to supplement the addition of the Shadow Assassin Racket.

Shadow Step [One Action] (Feat 6)
    [Rogue] , [Teleport]
    Prerequisites: Shadow Assassin Racket
Requirements: You must be adjacent to a creature.
You learn how to step between the shadows of two creatures. As an action on your turn, you can teleport up to 15 feet to a location you can see that is adjacent to a creature.

    Shadowed Debilitations (Level 10)
    [Rogue]
Prerequisites: Shadow Assassin racket, Debilitating Strike
The shadows are just another tool to be used. Add the following debilitations to the list you can choose from when you use Debilitating Strike.
    • Debilitation: The target treats all creatures as if they had Concealment.
    • Debilitation: The target becomes Immobilized.

    Twin Shadows (Feat 20)
    [Rogue]
    Prerequisites: Shadow Assassin racket
Your influence on the shadows of the world exceeds comprehension. They seem to eagerly await your next command. When you apply an Assassin's Shrouds to a creature, you can instead apply two Assassin's Shrouds and your maximum number of Assassin's Shrouds that can be applied at one time increases to 8.

Removed/Replaced Feats for Shadow Assassin Racket
The following feats were removed or replaced because they do not work with the Assassin's Shroud Class Feature.

    Sly Striker (Feat 8)
    (Removed Entirely)

    Impossible Striker (Feat 20)
    (Replaced by Twin Shadows)

This Rogue Racket has been playtested from level 1 to level 4 in a campaign and performed pretty well. It didn't out-damage a normal rogue, but it allowed the rogue's player to do things solo that didn't require the buddy system and instead allowed them to be more stealth oriented to stalk a target before striking them for large burst damage.
