    Thanks, Masky.

Heh heh. Xeno looks a little overpowered in this comic.

Also, I have to say Rand, I am a little disappointed that nobody (except for Rand, for a little bit) has reacted strongly to becoming what they fear they'll become. They just seem to be shrugging it off and doing what they're doing. Personally, it looks like wasted potential for an interesting, character-development filled storyline.

Kayl and the princess both reacted strongly initially. Looking at the situation they are all in, they don't really have time to be too upset about the changes.

Mostly what's happened is that Powers hasn't noticed any changes whatsoever, Xeno recovered, Marnia has dealt with it, Rand is still feeling the effects, and will do whatever it takes to hide it. If you notice in Comic 232, his tail is transparent. It's an illusion.
    edit: And Torn doesn't care.

And sorry about forgetting to link to the comic. If it happens again, just look at the archives.

I don't know why laser rifles* hand-held weapons should look so complex. It's a waste of money; there's no recoil or anything, why can't it be just a smooth cylinder with a grip on it ? And in normal lighting conditions, you can't see the laser beam except for the red/green/blue point on your target.

But, yes, I know, it looks better when it's a just a normal-looking gun with glowing spots that fires coloured rays.

*Laser weapons cannot be rifled, since they don't have a conventional barrel.

It could just be a vestigial thing, early guns were little more than small cannons after all, because that's what people were used to. Therefore, having gun-like features in a laser weapon could be for ease of use by troops previously taught in the use of firearms.

The way I see it, rifles are not only more familiar to wield, but due to their longer size, have more room for things such as beam amphlifiers, or a larger charge cell, giving them more, and more powerful shots. However, keep in mind we have a death star IRL.

Comic 236 and Comic 237 are up. Oddly enough I did complete both on the same day.

The simple satisfaction of beating someone to death with your own hands?

Besides, Torn just had his entire torso pierced by a spike of ice, so I don't thank ranged weaponry is going to be much of an issue for him.

If you can keep your distance, and you're good with a weapon, ranged beats melee, but up close, its easily the other way around.
    in other words, its situational.

And here it is again. Comic 240 is up.

And because I discovered a bizzaro yet extremely awesome weapon just recently, The Major's Arsenal 3 is up.

Except for the fact that by RAW, it doesn't work. Which is a pretty big flaw in a thought exercise designed to exploit a loophole in a given set of rules.

Within any set of rules, you can always set up scenarios to show how "broken" they are. Near instantaneous travel along a very long unbroken line of coordinated sentient individuals is one example that "breaks" the rules for readied actions, but it's a hypothetical situation, it's never expected to come up in game.
In Rand's example he used over 6000 peasants, who were all persuaded to stand in a line and ready an action. This isn't not something that is in any way likely during normal gameplay.

And again, by RAW, the "Peasant Railgun" doesn't work as a weapon. The final peasant throws the rock, at which point it has all the statistics of a thrown improvised weapon, including the 10ft range increment. This is generally fine, if you pass a rock to someone and then they throw it you wouldn't expect it to further than if they'd had the rock to start with. The rules aren't designed to accommodate situations that are never expected to come up.

I'm gone for 2 weeks and I come back to 10 new comics? Awesome!!!

And congrats on reaching your 42nd page.

    There's a speech-bubble error on panel 4 of #232, panel 12 of #236, panel 2 of #238, panel 6 of #240, and panel 10 of TMA3. Unless there's an update I missed.

    Great comics!
