Sonia stays behind the others while they handle the talking, using the time while they chat with the old lady to size up the room with her eyes. From an old habit rather than anything else, she takes note of whether any valuables are visible and what possible entrances and exits there are into the room.

    ((Thank you.))

Sonia eyes a few choice vintage wines behind the counter that look like imports from Quellnoth, elven wine at it's finest. Probably no one around here could afford that, hence the thick dust on the bottle.

With a few people helping it does not take long to clear the door. You unlatch it, and open it. You see a set of dark stairs descending into darkness. The woman goes upstairs when the door opens.

    I'm quite proud of this:

    Hiram Norrell

Hiram enters the house, tipping his hat at the lady as he does so.

Hiram Norrell, wizard, at your service.

He hangs his hat and cloak on a peg before scanning the inside of the house with his detect magic while the others clear junk away from the door to the basement. If he detects any magical auras, he will concentrate on that area long enough to determine their strength and number.

When the door is clear, he returns to the front room and ceases concentrating on his detect magic, instead taking time to cast both shield and [/i]darkvision[/i] on himself and Aemon.

Hiram detects a Faint aura from the far end of the room, but is unable to distinguish the type from such a distance.

The party descends the stairs, they go down quite aways, about 40 feet, using Viktor's light to see.

Before you see them, you hear them. Skittering noises on the ground of the cellar. As you come up to the doorway, you can get a good look. You see a number of huge rats looking in your direction, noses turned up in the air, except that half of them have no flesh, being just animated bones. All of them stop whatever they were doing and face you, squeaking angerly.

Move action: Move past Phaerin to a square adjacent to the closest rat, avoiding AoOs.
    Standard action: Sapphire Nightmare Blade.
    Concentration (1d20+7=11)
If the Concentration check hits the rat's AC, it is flatfooted vs. my attack and takes an extra 1d6 damage. If not, my attack is at -2.
    SNB attack roll (1d20+7=25)
    SNB Damage (1d6+3+1d6=13)
The second die rolled 5, so the damage is 8 if the concentration roll failed.

Hiram's bolt flies straight and nails the beast square in the side. It recoils and squeals loudly.
Sonia's specialized strike is not executed perfectly, but she still manages to stick one of the skeletons, but she finds her shortsword connecting with less effectively than she's used to on the open-ribbed undead.
Lance darts forward moving past Sonia's fight, but her enemy suddenly leaps forward to bit Lance's shin as he passes with unnatural speed (natural 20, not a crit, 1 dmg). The one he is moving towards is able to lash at him as well, inflicting more scratches on the Ranger (1 more dmg) To retaliate, Lance brings his sword to bear on it and can see his attack shatter a good amount of bones.

The Undead rats fight wildly, Lance's rat tries to attack, but it's broken structure seems to hinder it enough to allow him to dodge. Sonia's continues to bite accurately and she can feel the sting of it's bite on her thigh through her armor (3 dmg).
The living rats rush forward, the first at Sonia. He leaps and snaps his jaws at her, but misses by a good foot. (natural 1 :D) The other skampers past both Sonia and Lance to get to them, but he does not make it that far. Lance lops it's head and shoulders off as it enters his range. (6 dmg from AoO to rat)

Almost in response to the Dire Rat's death, you can hear more skittering. You can start to see what is producing it as it enters your visual range: A flood of smaller skeleton rats! These ones look like the household variety, but there are hundreds of them! Their red dots in their eye sockets are giving off an unsettling glow as they move toward Lance and Sonia.

((Resume combat. Swooper and Jack, you can post next round actions if you'd like.))

Hiram moves and shoots his ray of fire, but all of the action must have thrown of his aim, it hits and quickly burns a flimsy looking stool in the corner.
Sonia initiates her learned maneuver and it hits, but she is having a hard time fighting so many small creatures. (1/2 dmg from slashing and piercing)
Lance Caughs and feels like he is going to puke, he tries to take a moment to compose himself.

The Swarm shifts a bit, both Lance and Viktor are feeling too sick to take a swipe as they do. It seems to be making its way to Royal and Paerin.

Viktor is sick as well, but stumbles out of the rats, shaking a few off of his legs as he goes.
Royal swings Primus and it lands loudly on the ground next to the little undead vermin.
Paerin takes a slash with his sickle, and it is a near perfect slice through two bone beasts.

Viktor's holy aura sizzles and vaporizes another few critters.
The party is starting to thin their ranks, but there are still many to deal with!
Lance and Sonia take 4 damage each.

    Hiram 23
    Sonia 21
    Lance 18
    Bonerat Swarm
    Viktor 10
    Royal 9
    Paerin 8

    I'm quite proud of this:

    WAAAGH!

    Hiram Norrell

Hiram, more composed now that he's out of the bonerat swarm, opens his spellbook and begins reciting a holy prayer. Golden light gathers around his free hand before he fires it off into the swarm.

Sonia grits her teeth and shakes off a few of the skeletal rat-creatures that had been crawling up her legs. She keeps a level head, and with a step to the right, she quickly sheathes the shortsword in her left hand and draws the Vanquisher dagger given to her by Reiner in it's place. Continuing the same fluid movement, she spins and brings both blades down into the throng of rats, the dagger glowing with a faint golden light as she slashes with it.

No action: 5' step to H6.
Move action: Sheathe MW shortsword and draw Sacred Dagger +1. I'm assuming here that since I have TWF, I can sheathe one weapon and draw another with one move action. If you disagree, I drop the sword in my square (H6) as a free action instead of sheathing it.
Standard action: Initiate Wolf Fang Strike.
    Attack Rolls (1d20+5=23, 1d20+5=23)
    Short Sword damage (1d6+3=5)
    Sacred Dagger +1 damage (1d4+4+1d6=8)

BTW, you haven't posted results from the retconned action last round (Mountain-Hammering the swarm instead of Royal, whom I mistook for a rat )
