Re: Aerokean Chronicles: Part 1
Kyrsus
Spoiler
With the guards fixated on himself and Marcus, Kyrsus turns his attention to the simple task of fighting.
"Kill. No move." He calls out to Marcus after catching his fall out of the corner of his eye, trying to get his idea across.
Returning his full attention to the soldiers, Kyrsus sprang back to his previous position, and tried his previous maneuver again, bringing his sword to bear against one soldier, then against the other when the first fell.

Re: Aerokean Chronicles: Part 1
Synth
SpoilerKyrsus whirls around to move on to his next victim. He slashes twice at one of the soldiers, his first blow barely grazing but luckily catching an artery while his second blow is solid but not dealing as much damage. The soldier still stands, but looks ready to go down.
Marcus stands up as he takes a barrage of spears in that vulnerable moment. Three spears find their mark, the other barely missing, to deal 5, 7, and 3 damage. However, he seems unfazed as he takes his great swing at the soldier who ends up with a large slash across his chest as he yells out in pain. He still has his footing, but seems to have lost the will to fight.
The soldiers seem serious as one of their men have fallen and two have taken grievous injuries. They nod to each other in this next attack. They arrange themselves to surround the two of you again. One soldier attempts to knock Kyrsus' scimitar out of his hand and by what it seems and amazing feat of luck, succeeds. His sword now lies at his feet. One takes at swipe at the sword, making it skid way out of battle. The other three take their stabs, but it is useless against his gleaming fullplate. The soldiers surrounding Marcus attempts to disarm him as well, and he is able to knock two spears out of the soldier's hands before losing the grip on his weapon. The last soldier knocks his sword also out of battle. The guard that was guarding the tax collector runs to pick up Kyrsus's scimitar.
The tax collector moves towards Jermaine. He says, Tell them to stop resisting and come quietly. He looks around, as if looking for an easier way out of the fight, like a hostage, but thanks to Jermaine's prior tellings, all the doors are locked with everyone inside.
Jermaine replies, As I have said, they are not of the village. Even if they were I have no power over their free will. You are the ones that provoked them. I have no say in this matter.
They fall into a heated argument that the two of you could not care to understand between the fighting and your language skills.
Spoiler
G10, G7 and G8 are all spearless. G4 and G6 are badly wounded. G is standing there with Kyrsus' scimitar. Marcus's sword lies in A7.

SpoilerNothing happens in the room.
Synth
SpoilerMarcus lands a solid blow to the gut with his fists, sending the soldier down, clutching his stomach, and soon unconscious. He continues his pummel to the soldier standing next to him, sending blood and a tooth flying as he lands a cross. He yells out and makes gestures to Kyrsus and although he does not understand, the common language of battle allows him to seize opportunity and act again.
Kyrsus gives another punch to the now really surprised soldier, as he takes the hit and crumples to the ground. He continues to hit the target that Marcus just hit, who stares in disbelief at the two men besting them unarmed.
The soldiers now seem more cautious, seeing the strength of their opponents, The ones that have lost their spears pick them up and they back up so that the two of you are now enclosed, barely out of their reach. The guard picks up Marcus's longsword, marveling at its edge while going back to the tax collector.
The two men are still arguing, anger is rising.
Spoiler
They are all rearmed now with longspears. G5 is pretty wounded.

SpoilerReassessing the situation Marcus delays for only a moment so that he acts simultaneously with Kyrsus once more. He contemplates entering another stance but as his mind clears he realizes a more suitable course of action. Slipping two flasks from his pack he pops off the lid on one and passes the other two Kyrsus as he drinks of his own. As he begins to increase in size he calls out, "<We cannot be defeated! Even without weapons and with our bare fists we strike them down! Let our righteous fury win us this day!> GO!" He even includes a massive inspiring pose for good measure.

Kyrsus
Spoiler
Seeing his foes back off after his unarmed assault, Kyrsus allows himself a moment to regroup. He and Marcus are once again surrounded by enemies, and once again they are watching him cautiously. The thinning of their numbers seems to be having an appreciable effect on the soldiers. Kyrsus turns his attention to the next wounded soldier.
In a smooth motion, Kyrsus reaches behind himself to draw one of the three thin throwing spears slung there, draws it, and sends it flying towards the wounded soldier.

Kyrsus
Spoiler
Kyrsus isn't sure about the potion offered by Marcus, even when his ally grows to a massive size, the knight is still dubious about taking it, his experience is that magical elixirs are not to be imbibed lightly, and, more to the point, they are winning as it is.
As the enemies flinch at Marcus' sudden growth, Kyrsus opts rather to utilize the range to get some more use out of his javelins. Soon enough, he would be in a poor position for throwing.

SpoilerThe javelin grazes the soldier's chest, trailing blood as it lands behind him. At the sight of Marcus' growth, the soldiers back away in fear, yelling Magic! We are no match for him. Sir, let us flee! The tax collector's horse rears as he yells, Do not think this as over yet! Synth shall be properly punished for this defiance. and he rides out the north gate, the soldiers running after him. Jermaine watches in vain as the trained men run fast away from the village, but starts to look towards the wounded.

Re: Aerokean Chronicles: Part 1
Kyrsus
Spoiler
Kyrsus does not let up his pace until he skids to a halt at the swords. Replacing his javelin in its sling, he picks up his sword, checks it for damage, cleans with a cloth kept tucked under his belt, and sheathes it. Re-hanging his shield behind his shoulder, he waits over Marcus' sword until he comes to retrieve it, unwilling to touch the weapon.
Returning to the site of the combat, Kyrsus carefully retrieves his two javelins, cleans them, and replaces them as well. He then checks on all the soldiers, seeing who is alive and who is dead, and who is in need of tending to. Beckoning Jermaine over to help them (unless he already is), Kyrsus makes sure the bleeding are seen to, stabilized at least.
Once the business of life is seen to, Kyrsus begins the business of livelihood. He first gathers all the soldiers' weapons, spears and daggers, and sets them aside. He then rifles through their pockets and money pouches for whatever they have on them.Lantanese gnome avatar by the talented Honest Tiefling.

He sniffs at it and takes a drink before pouring water down the surface of the blade. With a flourish he flicks the blade through the air, sending a mixture of blood and water in a wide arc. He looks it over for another moment but does not sheathe it as he walks over to the site of the battle. If any have died he will kneel beside them with the tip of his blade to the ground and his weight leaning against it, "<Find peace in the hereafter, warrior.>"Never can find my towel...Forgot who did my avatar, sorry! >.<

Re: Aerokean Chronicles: Part 1
Synth
SpoilerAfter the healthy chase, the two of you walk back to Synth. Jermaine has taken care of the wounds, none of the fallen soldiers are dead. Infact, he and the women (the burly ones) have already carried them up to the church, to occupy the beds you once lay in. Their equipment already has been stripped and is no where to be seen. As you enter the church, Jermaine signals to a bench for you to sit and says with tongues cast, Are you hurt? It seems not, your prowess in combat is great. I am sorry you had to go through that. There were time when things got rough with taxes before, but this new collector seems like a.... to say the least, a stubborn person. I am sure the noble who rules these lands would not be as stupid about increasing taxes on top of what it is already, and the excuse about the war is nothing, as we are far from the fronts and took no part in the war, for now. The collector, he said his name was Wolfred, Mister, as he emphasized so much, must have been acting in his own interest.
First things first. Where are the others? It seems that Jack went to call on you guys, despite my telling him not to, but only you two were there. I should have guessed from the equipment that you all don, but it seems that you are not commoners, rather, adventurers that roam the lands in search for riches and fame. Eight gold pieces are not something to throw around lightly, but then since you come from different worlds, gold might have a different value. Lastly, it is true that you attacked these men, although in self-defense, you will be chased if this conflict is not resolved. I suggest traveling to Wampmire to present your case, and I will accompany you for help.
