Therdin - Dwarven Paladin
Barely feeling the touch on his back, Therdin pressed the attack against the large orc. Perjaps I should have spent motr time in the battle halls after all... he thought to himself. No trace of doubt showed on his face however - fervour, determination and ferocity were all that he presented.
Trying to stay close to the orc at his left flank to deny it a full swing, Therdin once again launches a blow at his foe.

Re: FR: The Blind Arm of the Law [IC]
With slice after slice from the halfling and elf's blades, the raging orc fell to the ground. Dacosta, giving his attention to the large orc, stepped around Astodac and let out a shimmering ray of energy towards the large half orc. The ray struck him dead in the chest, but he seemed unfazed. Using that to his advantage, Therdin also found an opening , striking the same orc in the chest, but again, he seemed almost not to notice it.
With Therdin's defenses down for a moment, the large orc charged to his left, swinging his axe along the way. Again, the blade of the axe crushed into the dwarf, cutting right through this armour. The second orc tried to capitalize on this moment, but the dwarf kept his shield arm high, blocking the second axe.
Andrew and the orc in front of him exchange a few strikes but none seemed to connect.

Meanwhile, back in Waterdeep...
Arynn awoke surrounded by a blanket of sun and a crisp autumn breeze flowing from the window above the bed in the servant's level of Castle Waterdeep. She could hear the Castle guard in the courtyard preparing for the day which meant she was already late for work.
Luckily for her sake, despite being a maid for the Castle, she was also there at the request of her cousin, who was a rather prominent courtesan within the noble's circle. This connection gave her quite a bit more leeway compared to the rest of the servants which didn't always sit well with them. Still, she couldn't be too late, so she began to get ready for the day.

Arynn - half elf maid(en)
Arynn washed and combed her hair as quick as she could, before dressing up in her maid's uniform. She smiles a little, looking outside at the wonderful autumn day, wishing she could head outside in stead of whichever room she'd be sent to tidy. With a last check in a small steel mirror to see how she looked, she stepped outside the door to her room, looking up and down the hallway before heading towards the kitchens.Last edited by Yawielas; 2008-08-21 at 12:47 PM.

"Arynn!" yelled that dreaded voice from down the hall, "Where in the Nine Hells have you been!? You know how much work there is to do during High Harvest and to have you sleeping in until well past when you're supposed to is..is...well, it's unacceptable! Grah! One of these days that cousin of yours is going to give some disease to some noble, then we'll see what happens to you." The head cook in the Castle kitchen left little to be desired for and a voice to match. Old, almost hag like was how the other cooks described her and very demanding. "You're not cleaning today. I need you in the kitchen. We only have two days until High Harvest. Get in there now and get to work. You're staying late tonight!"

Therdin - Dwarven Paladin
Therdin grimaced as the orc's axe skittered up and under the scales of his armour, biting deep into his chest. As he instinctively tucked his shield arm in to relieve the pressure on his chest, it deflected an incoming blow. Maybe the orc's axe had actually done him some good.
Therdin blinked away the pain, forcing himself to focus on only one thing - bringing the orcs down. He launched another mighty swing, and if his battle cry was half scream, who was going to notice?

Re: FR: The Blind Arm of the Law [IC]
As the next phase combat moved on, you know time was becoming an issue. You were only about three minutes into the battle and knew that more time would be needed for the others to get through the final bit of the wall and into the alley.
The three of Therdin, Dacosta and Ral concentrated their efforts on taking down the giant half orc that had been chopping bits out of the dwarven paladin. As fate would have it, all three of the attack hit but none of the attacks seemed to phase him yet again - although, visually was a different story. Blood gushed from numerous large wounds from Therdin's axe across his chest and puncture wounds through its chain mail from Ral's arrow. It seemed to be barely alive but still attacking with the same furry as before. Unfortunately, it's riposte again Therdin was in vain as the dwarf blocked the orc's axe with his shield and pushed him back a step.
Ben rolled forwards and tried to trip up the orc with his kama, but the orc was able to jump the attempt. It tried to lop off his head while in the air, but Ben was able to keep low enough to avoid the swing.
Andrew, still trying to help out Therdin, swung at the orc to his right again. Finally, one of his attacks connected, just as it had swung and hit the dwarf in the left leg with its axe. Out of nowhere, the orc that was running away came charging back towards Andrew at full speed. The hit to his shield arm almost made him drop it and fall back over Ladia, but at the last moment, he was able to get his grip and hold his ground.
Astodac rushed back towards his bow and readied it to attack while Rymian rushed up to flank the still standing large orc.

Meanwhile, back in Waterdeep
The day was long, the hag of a head chef was being militant and Arynn was getting tired. It was well past when she should had been done today, even with the extra time that was added on for being late.
Arynn had been left to finish the remain cakes and finally clean up the entire kitchen by herself. A fairly strict punishment for being only 15 minutes late, but she knew it was more to send a message to her rather than make up the time.
As the time began to press past midnight, a voice called from around the door. "Ah, dear cousin, what have you done to deserve this?" The olivine-skinned, raven black haired beauty came around the corner looking as though she had just came from a ball.

Arynn sighs and plops down on a kitchen bench, running a hand through her hair to get it out of her eyes. She gives the woman a look of mild annoyance that she can just come in here looking so beautiful, when others had been slaving over the ovens all day long. "Well, apparently I'm getting special favors because of our relations, so the head cook thought she should even things out. That, and being a quarter of an hour late...How was your day? Seduced anyone exciting? Or even remotely handsome?"

"Oh, don't be such a drama queen and please, I always pick the handsome ones." As you think back of your cousin of today and when you first arrived back in Waterdeep, it's clear that she's gone through something of a personality change. Gone was the strong, sometime brash, personality of before only to be replaced with sarcastic front which feints concern for your current life as a maid. For the most part, it's as if the courtesan in her has taken over completely and now is just looking down on you as the 'help'. It could have been many things that caused this change, maybe even drug use. None the less, she was still your cousin and your best connection to other parts of the castle.
"Now, I'm going to need you to 'pretty' up for tomorrow. Meet me at my place by 8, and please, don't be late for work and ruin this for me. It's very important, for both of us."

Arynn grumbles and returns to work, cleaning the kitchens and putting everything in its place before heading to her room, exhausted. At least the head cook wouldn't have anything to complain about tomorrow, she'd made every effort to get things ready. On her way to her small chamber, she wonders just what kind of work was expected of her tomorrow night. What information could be gleaned from the shipping clans? Hoping it was just a straight up courtesan mission, she sighs and opens her door, kicking off her slippers and collapsing onto the bed.
