    Default Pius Fidelus: No-man's land

    No-man's land

This is the thread where your Immortal can manifest his or her Avatar and find basically no sentient species. This includes all the lands on the Inner Plane where no species live. However, this can be used by species as neutral ground to meet with small parties and the like, if necessary.
Unless you specifically want to manifest her to talk with another Immortal in private on the Inner Plane or come up with a cunning plan involving no-man's land, it is advisable to manifest your Avatar near one of the sentient species.
You can explore the world away from the sentient species here, but the GM's will usually not really react to your actions here. When you kill a goat in the middle of nowhere, it really has no effect on the rest of the world.
However, if you want to place an artefact in a hidden location far away from civilisation for a group of species explorers to find, this is the thread to be.

Since it still is Turn 1, Immortals can not manifest to the Inner Plane yet, you can not post here yet.

Mandak arrives somewhere in the hills, and plays around with his new powers. He tests his ability to move the earth without expending any of that power, and the strength of his new form.

(no response necessary, I just wanted to post this for continuity without bogging down a species' IC thread)

    Sedha 6.95

Sedha carried the Fip's body down to the Ocean near the Sume territory. She walked along the coast for a while, until she found a nice, wooded spot overlooking the ocean. Once there, she set Fip down for the first time in what seemed like an eternity... she smelled like dead, rotting Karksh. A smell she hoped she would never have to smell again. Regardless, there was still one last thing that she had to do.

She began digging at the ground at the base of a tree with her hands, and continued digging until she had a pit about four feet deep. After she finished, she carefully put Fip into the hole, and filled the hole back up. She stared at the spot where the Karksh lay for some time... it would fade away, unknown to anyone. She found a flat stone, and used it to roughly pound the name "Fip" into the trunk.

She stared at the tree for several more seconds. It was all well, but somebody had to say something. After several more seconds, she said "Here lies Fip, great and wise leader to the Karksh, and first Karksh to travel the not-water to meet the other thinkers."

Here she paused for several more seconds. "Fip, I have granted your wish. Rest easy my friend." Still staring at the tree, she slowly faded out of existence, back to the Outer Plane.

When Ardannis wals through the forest, searching in the area in which he saw the red dot on the map, he at first finds nothing. But he continues to walk on, scanning the area the dot was in. Due to the lack of ability to zoom in enough, this is quite some area. But eventually, as he moves through the majestic forest with it's tall trees, he sees something. In a large rock, which is part of the ground, there is something peculiar sticking out. Coming closer, he sees what it is. A sword. It is sticking within the rock, standing completely straight up. It looks like a strong and hardy blade, suitable for large and powerful creatures.

Ark materializes near the red dot in b25 with Akam in a 2 meter tall form, scrying on the mountain to try to find the nearest 'safe as possible' space.

He then materializes and will attempt to work his way to it.

[Sorry, that should have been c25. You can manifest on crater wall, but it is nigh impossible to get there otherwise.]

    11.0

When Ark materialises in the forest, he at first sees nothing. However, as he moves around, and time passes on, he eventually notices something. Ark at one point sees a strange stick. It is wedged deep within a tree and is obviously not a stick that belongs to the tree - the trunk and remainder of the tree do not have the same colour.

Akam will attempt to see whether the tree is loosely stuck to the tree or if its somehow going inside the tree itself, and if it is, nudge at it to see if he could 'unwedge' it in any way, using his strength in order to achieve the feat.

If it looks like his efforts are for naught, he will attempt different ways of freeing the stick by using it as a lever, pulling and shaking it to see whether it does anything before moving back, digging beneath the tree roots and attempting to uproot it with a big fallen branch or his own strength.

If the tree was uprooted, maybe the bark surrounding the stick might split open or crack and make it looser for the stick to come out.

The stick is not loosely stuck to the tree, but is neither going inside the tree itself very deeply. However, when Akam uses his strength to get the stick lose, nothing budges or moves, it seems, unmovable by Akam. Using it as lever or using a lever seems to have no effect either, so Akam eventually tries to uproot the tree. It is a big and formidable tree, so his first attempts seem futile and useless. If Akam wishes, he could take a lot of time to try and uproot this large tree by digging the deep roots free and trying to uproot it then. However, since Akam does not have any tools for digging or the like, this would be a long and arduous process, taking a lot of time and may not even have any results in getting the stick loser.

Akam stands and thinks for a second, looking at the tree and the stick. Strength looked like it was going to lead him nowhere. He looks around the tree to see whether there would be any encryptions or hints, and if not, he will go around in circles looking at the fabric of the stick and how finely crafted it is. He tries channeling his own power into the stick through a miracle of Pollen to see whether that does anything.

Sitting down if no other effect happens, he looks at it intently. If it was born of the gods, maybe it was divine words that were needed.

"Come forth!" he bellows in a desperate attempt.

There were no encryptions, no hints and the stick did not look very finely crafted, though very, very sturdy. Channelling power has no effect and when Akam calls out, nobody replies, except a bird, who lets out a cheerful tweet. Though that is hardly a divine sign, for Akam has been hearing these birds occasionally since he got here.

    Ardannis, 11.0

Hmm...Ardannis walks around the stone several times. This seems curiously familiar, and yet strange. Casually, he reaches out to touch the sword. If there is no obvious effect, he quickly moves on to wiggling, twisting, and otherwise trying to get the durn thing out've the stone. If he can sense divine power (I have NO idea if avatars can do that), he'll try to see if there's any in the sword, since the table-imps seemed to sense it. Lastly, he adds in a sly, conversational tone You know, there's a much larger and grander rock a few meters off the other way. I can move you, if you'd like. As he speaks, he tentatively puts his hand on the hilt of the sword again.

And no matter how much Ardannis talked, wiggled, twisted or pulled, the sword did not come out of the stone. Despite how much it may have wanted to be put in that larger and grander rock. Ardannis does not sense any divine power, though that might be because he does not have the ability to do that. Other than that, the sword feels pretty sword-like and not much more. The blade does look sharp.

    Turn 11.0

    c25

As Akam becomes increasingly frustrated with the less-than-talkative very very sturdy stick, it moves away and decides to appear at another red dot.

    l20

Ark: Ark appears with Akam at 8 feet tall, finding the place and exploring near the spot where the red dot was shown to be in order to... well, find it. He'll pull out grass near the area if he can't find anything standing out as he looks through it.

DM: Ark sees a lot of grass. There are a few trees in the distance, as well as a small stream. Some creatures are wandering about and a flock of bird-like creatures are flying over. In the middle of the grass at a certain point, there appears to be a small fist sized orb; it's perfectly round and a soft blue color though still transparent.

Ark: Akam picks it up to see it better and rubs it, touching it, looking through it as he holds it up near his face.

DM: It appears to be rather plain save for the unnatural spherecal build of it; though after a few moments of him staring at it closely a light blue fog fills the orb and it forms a symbol from the fog, for some unknown reason it registers to Ark as a question, asking him what he'd want to see.

Ark: Ark seems to raise an eyebrow. He looks intensely at the orb. Had it just asked him a question? Staring, he continues looking at the orb and thinks: Well, what would I like to see... I would like to see... the mountain in p28 that is circled by a forest, towards the East. If it doesn't do anything, and he needs to actually voice his demand instead of just thinking it, he will say it aloud.

DM: The symbol disperses into the cloud once more before the cloud shifts and changes into the image he wished to see. It looks much as he expected it, with the image itself looking as if he were standing exactly where he thought of in his mind.

Ark: Pretty surprised, Ark lowers the orb and blinks several times. "Well I'll be damned..." He holds the orb up again and focuses once more. "I'd like to see the Plane of the gods... my room."

DM: The image of the mountain fades and the smoke shifts again before the image of Ark's room appears in the orb, showing that everything was exactly as he remembered it.

Ark: His eyes widens in surprise, but really just in shock, grasping the orb against his torso, he looks around in the fields to see whether anyone's there.

    DM: You see non-sentient creatures.

Ark: This... this is madness. This thing... has too much potential. Spying on anyone... anywhere... The immortal holds the orb tightly and moves away from the point where he manifested in. He looks around once more and thinks of the potential of this item in the wrong hands. Certainly, it would invite too much power into the mortal realm, and it would be best to use in the security of his own room. Yet... could it be sent into the god plane as it could see in it? Ark tries to demanifest with the precious orb into his room.

DM: as Ark's vision returns to normal and he looks upon Akam, the avatar is still clutching the tinted orb.

    k32

Ark: Ark manifests once more, his curiosity piqued with Akam in possession of the orb and clutching it tightly in k32, manifesting himself in the hex. Looking around the area, he starts looking for the object and wonders, holding up the orb. "Show me the artifact in this area." If he has to imagine a position, he imagines it as a view from from about 20 meters above.

DM: You see hills abound. Clouds drift in the sky. Inside the orb the cloud of blue smoke forms once more to show a small orb seemingly to be made of flesh and blue, it's sitting on the ground next to a tree.

Ark: Ark looks up from the orb and examines the area. He explores every tree in the area where the red dot was, trying to find this second small orb that sits on the ground, looking downwards most of the time and roughly proceeding the same way he did with the orb he holds, occasionally looking up where he is with the orb, moving out from the view above until he sees his 8 feet tall form (that he hasn't changed when appearing here), gradually coming up to the item and if finally finding it, will grab it and hold it up and manipulate it in the same way he did with the Orb of Seeing.

DM: When he finally finds the orb, which takes only a short amount of time thanks to the Orb of Seeing; it is larger then the first orb and is soft to the touch, it feels like it is made of the redish flesh that it looks like; though aft holding it for a little while, the orb shifts and alters as what almost seem like tentical come out from the fleshy orb as they spiral around his arm and seem to engulf it some, the orb changes and moves to the back of his hand as the rest of of it creates an armor like substance that covers his whole forearm and hand with a few tendrils spiraling up along his bicept; sharp, black claws extend from the elongated finger tips of the flesh like substance that covers his hand.

Ark: Raising an eyebrow, Ark almost panicks when the item of power suddenly wraps around him. The orb had impressed him so much, and now it was backfiring on him, maybe those items were not to be toyed with? As he panicks, the fleshy sort of orb takes a different form and he watches it with wary eyes as it shapes around his forearm and produces sharp black claws at the end of the fleshy fingertips that formed out of the orb. Looking at it for a while and trying to get a feel of the item, touching the 'armor' of it with his right hand, he tries to get a feel of how long the claws are, and then, moving up to a tree, his knees bent in momentum, he slashes powerfully at the bark with all of Akam's might (Str 7).

DM: The powerful slash rips through the bark and leaves behind three large and deep gashes inside the wood, equal to the number of clawy fingers there are.

Ark: "Wow. That's..." Bending down and looking at the results of the slash, Akam wonders about whether if it is merely a weapon or if it has any side effects. Looking at the item, he brings the claws near the biceps and scratches it ever so slightly to see whether it has any sort of poison or any other effect he can pick up by doing that. He also points it outwards towards the tree and sees if he can will the claws to extend further than they already do. After experimenting with this, he will dematerialise and return to his room.

DM: The claws are sharp enough to scratch even the tough avatar, but it seems to hold no other affects; though when he points wiht it and attempts to extend the claws, nothing appears to happen.

As the the focus of the outer brought its attention to the inner, a whirlwind of dust and rose petals began to form near where the red dot had been. This whirlwind grew up to seven feet in height, the center obscured by rose petals. The twirling continued for a few seconds after it reached seven feet, then without warning it stopped, and as the petals floated down to the floor disapearing as they landed to reveal Awlruts. Finally fully formed at the site of the closest red blip to the Zygon, Awlruts begans a tentative search for something out of the ordinary.

    Turn 11.1, k25, Awlruts

There is a lot of grass around Awlruts as she manifests. In the distance, she can see some trees, a bit of water, and creatures moving about. There does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary here, at first. When she goes on to walk, she eventually comes across a herd of animals that move away from her. In the area they had been eating grass, which is relatively close to the stream, the earth is more visible due to all the activity and walking over it. On the ground lie some knives, attached to each other with leather. They seem to be of excellent quality, but not meant for combat, rather for something else.

[ooc: They look like skinning knives.]

Awlruts moves slowly over to these knives keeping an eye on the herd incase something happened. When she finally reaches the knives she will crouch down and pick one up and examine it before she tries to do anything else with the others. When she tries to pick up the knives, she finds she can not. It is as if they are extremely heavy and unmoveable. "Strange." Standing back up and looking at her hands, the hands of a woman who tore the tusks out of the mouth of a titan and then looks back down at the knives, glaring at them. "Obstinate things." With that she crouches back down and tries to make the best examination of them she can without moving them.

Seeing the fact they seem to be made of stone gave her an idea. Perhaps if she used earth manipulation with her strength she could move them, and with that she tries to move them combing her earth manipulation with her strength. After all this if she still can't lift them she will kick one of them dejectadly. But they continue lie still, not a bit moved since she found them. Then Awlruts will move back a short way and then attempt to lift the ground underneath, and them along with it, though earth manipulation. And while she can move the ground the knives, she finds she could not move the earth beneath it. "I don't suppose you're going to help me?" She says the those stubborn knives that refused to move. "Maybe go do something useful so I know how to deal with you." Getting increasing annoyed with these stupid knives Awlruts clentchs her fist activating her sword. "Well if that's the way you want to play it." And with that she proceeds to beat the ever loving **** out of the knives.

The knives do not seem to get damaged much, if at all, for the first bit and Awlruts continues to beat the crap out of them for a while, hoping to at least damage them if not get a response from them. She continues this for a long time, until she sees a small crack emerging. Huzzah! Not so tough now are you!" Awlruts screams at the knives as she herself begins to crack a little. Stopping herself before she starts again. "Maybe you have command words? Up. Work. Scrubby!" If she gets any response at all from them her first reaction would be surprise her second would be to continue to try and work with them. But they continue to lie still.

Turning herself away from the knifes Awlruts looks to the herd of mortals that are grazing nearby. Looking at them she examines them from where she is standing. The creatures look like a pre-evolved version of a combination bewteen buffalo's and bulls. Activating her sword Awlruts begins to launch the rose petal blade at the nearest bull, aiming to slice leg muscles and otherwise impede movement but not kill. The bull gives out a scream of pain after which the bull-like creatures perk up at the scream and start to move away from the scream which indicates danger. They follow each other and the herd moves away from Awlruts in a stampede-like fashion. The hurt bull that screamed is trying to limp after them with it's alright remaining legs. Running forwards catching up to the injured thing Awlruts will give a slash with her sword to uninjured legs until it is disabled.

When it is disabled, Awlruts moves to the bulls head she grabs it firmly and snaps its neck. After giving the beast a few good prods to make sure it was dead she drags the bull over to where the knives are. Finally growing annoyed with these stupid knives Awlruts makes a mental note of where she is and then burys the knives before going off a searching for a short while more before demanifesting and trying another spot.

    Sedha 11.4

Sedha materialized in o15, and looked around the area. She had to find this item before the Niddog did. It could be dangerous? Fine. She could deal with that. She had the comfort of knowing that it would be much less dangerous to her than any sentient creature who would find it. Sedha combed the area for whatever the red dot might be.

Edit: (assuming she finds exactly what Ardannis finds)

Sedha eyes the object closely. She didn't appear to be able to move it.

Good. Hopefully the mortals wouldn't be able to move it as well.

However, some of these things apparently could be moved, and she needed to find those before any mortals did. Sedha reappears in j16 to search it, and after she finishes searching it, she moves onto the nearby i17. She repeats this process for i18, and h16.

    Turn 11.3, o15, Sedha

When Sedha materialised, she found herself in the forest of o15. As she looked around, she saw majestic trees and heard the sounds of the forest. There did not seem to be anything out of the ordinary, and thus, she started her search. Time passed by as she continued to search, but eventually, she found what she might be looking for. In a large rock, which is part of the ground, there is something peculiar sticking out. Coming closer, he sees what it is. A sword. It is sticking within the rock, standing completely straight up. It looks like a strong and hardy blade, suitable for large and powerful creatures. And indeed, she is not able to move it.

    Turn 11.1, j16, Awlruts

Awlruts renewed her attempt and manifested in her style of swirling dust and rose petals. Finding herself in the water, she looked around. Most of what she saw was indeed that, water. Fish swam through the gentle stream of the water, in schools or chasing after other fish. A crab-like creature moved in the distance and hid in some coral. The coral was very pretty around here, as was the stone carved by the streams around here. Awlruts moved about to search and found herself momentarily looking through a school of tiny fish that passed on. Then, between some rock formations and amidst the center of a field of coral and sea plants, there was a rock emerging from the ground on which a weapon lay.

This weapon lying on the rock is a thrown weapon, a javelin. It looks and feels solid, but the gray shaft has decorations reminding of smoke blown by the wind. The tip is bright orange and has small flame decorations. The entire weapon seems to be designed to have a comfortable/grip use for a specific species. Awlruts floats towards it through the water and slowly examines it as she holds it while still on the ground. However, this item is another which she is not able to remove from its location. She takes a mental picture of the area she found the javelin in and de-manifests.

    i17, Awlruts

Within i17, Awlruts again manifests in the water, with a swirl of rose petals to announce her arrival. She sees some fish swimming away from her when she looks around again, obviously not used to swirls of rose petals. This place is less colourful than the other place she has visited. There are more rock formations here and a bit more crab-like creatures as well. After searching around, she eventually finds another item. Two misty boots, which have a smoky surface. They seem originally meant for humanoid feet. One of the boots is tipped over, while the other still stands vertical. Awlruts tries to put the vertical one on, but finds she can not move the boots and has to move her foot in. While the boot does feel comfortable, it also does not seem to move still. Unable to lift them and without special effects, she remembers where the boots are and de-manifests again.

    Sedha

Sedha sees the same things as Awlruts in j16 and i17, though after her share of spending plenty of time searching. In i18, Sedha walks over the sea bottom for a long time as well to find the item. Here, she sees a beautifully crafted crystal staff placed in a coral reef. However, just like the previous ones, she can not pick it up or manipulate it. In h16, she continues her watery search for a long time until she finds another item. Which is a shovel, sticking in the earth. And just like the others, she can not pick it up or manipulate it.

    Sedha 11.4

[Apparently you didn't see my edit to the previous post. Here is is:]

(they are all really close to eachother, so it makes sense.

    EDIT AGAIN!:

Sedha feels very relieved. At least she knows that the ones nearby the civilizations are safe for the Sentients. With that, she demanifests.

    Tumine Barok, turn 11.5

Tumine appears in the waters of j16, searching for whatever could be giving off the signal of power. She is ten feet long and wearing her armor and wearing the Eye of the Sea to aid her vision, swimming powerfully along the seabed, occasionally darting up to burst forth from the surface, searching, searching.

She will also search i17 and i18 in this manner.

    Ikeklos, Turn 11.05

Kelkik hits the water near H16 with a splash, and starts swimming immediately. He is single minded in its task, and fearful... I have fear!... about the nature of these items. If it truly is as he thought... He puts on all the speed his celerity and swimming ability can muster.

He sought the item at H 16, i17, then i18, before proceeding to J16.

(If you wish to IM any of these, just PM me a time and whatnot)

    Ardannis, Turn 11.0

After his final efforts fail, Ardannis becomes furious, semi-intentionally. You stupid sword! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill someone with you!

After that, he quiets. As he dematerializes, he has a disquieting thought. Had he seen that sword before...in the hand of an Immortal?

((can you pick one at random for me? Internet's being weird, and I don't know how easy it would be to find the list. Plus, I don't really care which one I find next.))

    For previously visited locations

ooc: i17, i18, j16 and h16 have been described before. You can look at previous descriptions to see what item you find and what the environment is like. If previous Immortals can not pick up the items, neither can you.

    Ardannis

The sword does not respond to Ardannis. Ardannis then moves on to i17. See previous post for description of what you find there.

(Thanks, that helps. I was wondering if they reacted to different Immortals)
(By the way, misty, smoky boots? What clearance are they?)
    Ikeklos, Turn 11.3 (I guess)
Not completely satisfied with the immobility of each item, Kelkik goes a bit out of its way to cover each of the items with rocks, silt, and whatever else it can find. If this is unfeasible (to tall or something) it makes a effort, but doesn't go too far with it.

And, while it's in the area, it will drop in with the Karksh...

    Turn 11.7

Kelkik travels to K25 from the lands of the Zygon. As before, its goal is not to claim the item it finds, but to hide it as well as possible.
It then returns to the outer realm, only to return to the worst of the concentration...

    Turn 11.8
F 27 is home to two of the items, which Kelkik finds, and hides, as before. Nearby, E27 houses another, which he does the same to. It then rushes to C25 (Celerity 3) to bury the item there.

Then, afterwards, it return to the Outer plane, exhausted. Perhaps the others could report more...

    11.3

    h16

Here, the shovel that was sticking out of the earth is now covered under a large pile of rocks. While hidden, it stands out immensely, so any Immortals travelling here would find it a dead give away that something is there.

    i17

The boots with a misty, smoky surface, are covered in a pile of rocks as well now.

    i18

Within a coral reef, there are rocks to cover up beautifully crafted crystal staff that was formerly lying on the ground.

    11.7, k25

Ikeklos looks around, searching and searching. He is on the plains, with a herd of bull-like creatures and he sees some trees and a stream in the distance, but it seems that no matter how long or hard he searches, there is no item around here. He does find a dead bull-like creature on an area where the grass was walked/eaten away, relatively close to the stream. Though mostly it is bones and some rotten flesh around the bones.

    11.8

    f27

The first item is semi-difficult to find. It hangs on a branch of a tree, amidst only a few trees. Despite the easy to find location, it is of the same colour as the trees, hence why it was semi-difficult to find. It is a poncho made out of hide, and looks to blend in with the trees. Since it is hanging from a branch, Ikeklos is not able to bury it.

The second item lies on the plains as well, but was not easy to find either. It is a silver circlet, but was lying between the grass that is abundant amongst the plains. Now, it is buried by Ikeklos.

    e27

Within this forest, Ikeklos has a difficult time finding the item. It is not on the ground, nor hanging by something or in a bush. Instead, he at one point looks up and glimpses the sight of something red in a high tree. If he can climb, he sees a red tunic lying very high in the tree. Again, this one can not be buried to location either.

    11.9, c25

Here, Ikeklos finds, after again a long search, a stick sticking out of a tree. While he can bury it, it would be obvious something is hidden against that tree then.

    11.2

Appearing in the plains of the Zygon with Akam, he moves to one of the territories of the Tusked Beasts. Moving silently and creeping on one, his morphing cloth seems to release the claw-like tentacle orb wrapped around his arm. He leaps on the creature and stabs it with the item behind the neck. He hated causing unnecessary pain, but he couldn't, and wouldn't let the species suffer.

Leaving the claw in there, he sees tendrils extending and liquid seems to drown into the item.

"MMMM... oh YEAH that's the stuff!"
"Hey, what's up with the animal cruelty? Maybe you should stab us something else next time!"
"Shut up and drink. Pound for pound, nothing compares to this, so don't give me your melodrama."
"Oh, touchy are we? Well who the f*** asked you to pick us up anyway? Suck it up like a man! Like us!"

Ark's eyes glow in obvious anger, but his voice is calm and cold.

"Suck up your attitude. Don't make me start feeding you on mice or bug juice."
"Oh, sure! But maybe you'd like to sort out your hormone problems first, pretty boy."

When it is done, Ark sighs deeply, and using his last miracle for this turn, he turns to a group of Tusked Beasts, aiming for a male, making a half-seal with his right hand.

    "Breed."

    "Oh, ain't he nice now?"
    "Shut up."

And with that he de-manifests to the Outer Plane.

As usual, Akam appears with the claws.

"Hey, hey, you really aren't used all that much, what's the big idea?!"
    "BLOOD!"
"What, I also have to entertain you in the Outer Plane as well as feed you? Just drink and leave me alone."
"Well, dancers would be nice... mmm and maybe you could find some nice female."
"I doubt we have the same tastes."
"Tell me about it, seriously those big mammals are such a bore, get your ass up and find me some tasty races next time!"
    "Go to hell..."
    "Heh."

He will go to the Niddog after this.
