The Tainted Flesh (IC)

[Icewalker]

Silver slips past Tosk and brings his blade smoothly through the new gaping doorway into the shoulder of the automaton with a sharp clang, leaving a thick cut in the metal and a slightly dislodged shoulder connection. It quickly recovers and swings both its weighted hammer-fists at you, both of them connecting heavily.

The Karrnathi skeleton calmly stands, half plate clanking over its body, and steps up onto the table at the back of the room. With a sweep of its hand a shortspear appears from nothing into its hand as it leaps forwards off the table, landing in the center of the room and quickly adopting a combat stance.

Tosk

Tosk moves through the ruined wall and places himself within striking distance of both automatons. "Dese guys are fun! Dey make kewl noises when dey fall down!" The ogre's glee at smashing the metal automatons continues as he finishes off the one that Silver just wounded.

"I'll get dese guys - you two take big boss man."

Silver

Silver ducks under Tosk's whistling flail, and darts through the rubble-strewn doorway. He charges across the floor at the skeleton, culminating in a ferocious slash at its boney hips.

"I thought we'd just gone over this," Aldan exclaims with his usual guttural disapproval.

The major elbows his way through the door, just enough to skirt the wall of the new room and ring the head of its metallic guard.

Tosk's massive flail smashes into the automaton which recoils at the great blow, but holds its ground despite the massive dent in its torso.

Silver sprints through the room and brings his sword at the skeleton, but it scrapes off the plate armor uselessly.

Aldan raps the machine on the head, but the sturdy metal of the automaton stops most of the blow.

Both automatons windmill their arms into a barrage of blows, one attack each smashing into Tosk and Aldan.

The massive skeleton grin holds on the undead soldier's face as he viciously thrusts it twice into Silver's stomach.

"oh, ya want some more, huh? Take dis!" The ogre finishes off the automaton he is facing and turns to relieve Aldan of his in just a moment.

The old major swings his shield between himself and the metallic guard. Keeping the automaton at arm's length, Aldan slings the shortspear out of his pack and into its face. With the patter of his lancet, he attempts to hook a crevice or latch.

"Infernal machine," Aldan hisses over the struggle.

Silver

Silver takes the thrusts, but his chain shirt and thick skin manage to absorb most of their force. He springs upwards, slamming into it with his sword pointed forwards. As he jumps, he slashes at the skeleton's bony ribcage and bites at its exposed neck.

The automaton Tosk is facing smoothly ducks under his swing and springs upwards with two hammering blows, one of which heavily bludgeons your side while the other swings wide.

Aldan's blow is smoothly deflected to the side as the automaton spins forwards and brings its weighted fists down over his shield, but with the odd angle, manages to land neither of them.

Silver leaps viciously forward, but his sword meets with only a screech of steel on steel, and his teeth close on the cold metal as well. Still with his terrible skeletal grin, the beast brings up its shortspear again to strike. The first blow goes wide, but the second pierces another hole in your chest.

Aldan begins prematurely circling the construct. He keep it at arm's length with the shaft of his spear, standing ready to bat away its advances.

Silver

Silver swings up his shield and intercepts the skeleton's sword, which slides off the polished metal with a screech. He immediately throws his shield arm wide, unbalancing the skeleton and sweeping its sword out of position, and counterattacks. He lets out a guttural growl as he thrusts his sword into its chest, and tries to seize one of its exposed bones in his fangs.

The flail moves with blinding speed and a terrible whistle through the air, smashing directly into the side of the automaton. He turns to face the other mechanoid that Aldan is fighting. "You next!"

Aldan takes a fruitless jab at the construct he faces, which twists out of the way of the strike. Silver's blows prove equally pointless, merely scraping off the skeleton's heavy armor.

Tosk's blow proves more effective, catching his automaton in the chest and slamming it back against the far wall, where it crumples and falls still.

The remaining automaton continues its assault unrelenting, disregarding its fallen allies, taking two more swings at Aldan, however he deflects them with deft movements of his shortspear.

The skeleton continues its barrage against Silver to no effect, but its empty sockets seem to be staring at Aldan.

Tosk smiles over his latest fallen foe, then turns and sees Aldan under the blows of his metallic opponent. "Comin' Gramps!" the ogre bellows, then charges over, reaching over the paladin and bringing his flail around in an arc to smash into its metallic temple.

"Don't call me Gra-"

Aldan's admonishment is cut by his reflexive ducking of the flail. Seeing the automaton smashed into tiny, inoperable pieces against the wall stays his tongue. Still desiring a target for his ire, the major turns to his skeletal quarry.

"You deaf or just stupid!? Throw down your weapons and we won't have to lug you to tribunal in a sack."

The old Karrn advances on the skeleton's side. He takes a warning swing of his spear just short of the corpse's helm.

"Get over here, before we defend each other to death!" snarls Silver. He lunges forward again, cutting viciously at the skeleton.

Tosk brings his flail in an arc over Aldans head to smash it into the top of the machine with a crunch as it collapses into a pile of scrap metal.

Aldan steps swiftly under Tosk's outstretched arms and brings his spear up at the skeleton in a complex flourish, successfully making the skeleton take a bad step attempting to correct for the perceived attack.

Silver continues his assault on the skeleton, finally catching the side of the thing's face with a fang, tearing a gash down the side of its neck.

The skeleton jerks suddenly to face Aldan as he approaches, and it assaults him with two jabs from its own shortspear, the first striking wide, but it quickly pulls it back and thrusts again, sinking the spear into Aldan's side and pulling its face up right into his with a hiss.

It is not simply a hiss, but a whisper. The thing speaks in a visceral growling tongue as its empty sockets glare endlessly into your own. "You are still ours..."

Aldan wheezes through the mouthpiece of his helm. He pushes off his undead aggressor with a sluggish jerk of his shoulder and drops into a silent, defensive posture.

Cradling his polearm's shaft just over his elbow, Aldan bats away his opponent's barb.

Seeing the old soldier take a shot from the skeleton, the ogre gets angry, his racial temper boiling up inside him. "Get away from him! GRRRRRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Tosk charges over, the flail head makes an evil whistling sound as it whips through the air straight for the skeletons head.

Silver

Silver grimaces with satisfaction as his teeth rip a small bone free from the skeleton. As Tosk charges across the room, the paladin steps around the altar to give the ogre more space to swing his mighty flail. Once in position, he resumes his attack.

The skeleton makes a quick jab in response to Aldan's flourish, sinking his spear again into the older man's gut with a clack of its grinning teeth.

Tosk slams his massive flail down into the side of the skeleton with a crunch, leaving a massive dent in its heavy armor as some pieces of bone and dried flesh break and fall out of the bottom of the armor. The monster wavers on its feet for a moment, but stands strong.

Silver moves around the skeleton, taking up a flanking position and scraping his sword along the beast's armor, but to little effect.

Turning to Tosk, the skeleton takes one step up onto the lowered forearm of the ogre and leaps forwards and up, catching and hanging onto his shoulder with one hand and landing with his feet braced on Tosk's chest, bringing his shortspear forwards with his other hand to stab it twice into the ogre's chest. Tosk stumbles and falls to the ground with a massive crash as blood coats his chest from the two heavy punctures.

Suddenly the door slams open, and in stumbles Ilrecc, streaked in blood, with a vicious gash along his side. He seems stable and alive but injured, with rotting flesh and stale blood covering his once silver uniform, his mace covered in the undead matter. You see a particularly large bugbear zombie beaten back into death on the other side of the door. He sees the situation in the room and rushes forwards as well as he can to Tosk's downed body, silver light flowing around his hands as he approaches.

Aldan

Aldan sunk from the thrust. His lungs burnt and he held his breath deeper so as to not be blinded from the pain. The skeleton's cruel fixation on the veteran's abdomen stirred memories of better times Aldan spent being stabbed.

The major pushed his arms forward and into a reserved clutch of his board and spear. Aldan darted for the deserter's flank, taking a reserved prod to catch his attention and step out of reach.

The ogre has had enough of dying and returning. Frankly, he is straight-up pissed about it. The growl that escapes his maw is sub-human in its ferocity, not even approaching language - the sound is primal in its fury as he brings the flail from down low in a two-handed uppercut.

Silver follows the skeleton, vaulting smoothly over the altar, leading with his longsword. He slashes downward, and grasps at the gleaming white bones with his fangs.

[Admiral Squish]

The skeleton pirouettes, Silver's blade and fangs skipping off half-plate armor. In the same motion, he nimbly sidesteps the plummeting flail's head. However, when he plants his feet to strike again, Aldan's jab catches it on the side, but it just barely fails to puncture it's plate. The undead thing doesn't hesitate, jabbing it's shortspear forward twice, it's arm almost a blur as it thrusts towards the elderly paladin.
