Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
S'alright; really, I've been rather frustrated at our setbacks too.
Chronicled brought up the possibility of recruiting more people to make up for our losses (hopefully including someone who can host on Gametable), and I think that makes sense.

Mm.... that is really a very good idea.
I'll send out some PMs tomorrow morning; for now, I need a little rest.

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
*Shrug* There wasn't much you could have done. Sucrose and I just spent a while after you left trying to check his hosting ability. It... made Gametable suck all my comp's resources up until I was finally able to "End Program" it.
Even if Gametable isn't an option, we should IRC the combat. I have my first few turns all planned out now! (Although with just two of us I am still slightly concerned about our odds, especially with what I can remember about that nasty fellow.)

True dat.
I would invite you to IRC it up now, but I'm DMing another game at this point! The one I mentioned!
Quigley and Tanith make a quick cameo - a mysterious cameo! - before they actually show up,

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Is this the cameo where Quigley nicks stuff from the party while doing some more secret agent work? I seem to remember offering a potion of fly in his inventory as a way for Quigley to book it. Silly me, Quigley would probably go invisible instead (can't hit what you can't see).

-No, it's where he mysteriously shows up with Brelish intelligence and tells the party to try and keep quiet about the boss that he just helped them blow up.
OMG! DF, when do you get out!? 9-10?
Well, we can work with that...
9:30 EST?
I mean, I have the material, I have most everything ready, and I really really will post that new recruitment thread...

Hello, all! I'm The Colonel, here to fill your thread with joy and fried chicken!
My character is a member of a secret group of underground silver flame worshippers in Karrnath! Ooooo! He also has a pet dog. So, what's the low-down on why an inquisitive would be poking around?Look! It's me!

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Here is my post from the other thread with a few race/class combos on it. I am also interested in climbing aboard (if not all the time at least for the sessions where I'm free for that time period), but I'd rather pick one of those choices based on the preferences of the others in the current party.

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Hi, saw the recruitment thread, thought I'd drop in and see if my efforts would be appreciated.
Lesser Aasimar Battle Sorcerer/Fighter/Abjurant Champion is one character I can contribute to the party, if anyone wouldn't mind a little more melee/arcane power in the party.
A straight Warforged Cleric would be another, if more healing assistance would be required. Now if you don't mind, I am somewhat preoccupied telling the laws of physics to shut up and sit down.
I cast irresistable phantasmal killer as a 4th level spell. No save, just die.

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Hello, all.
First of all, ColonelFuster, our party was working for the Wayfinders society, so odds are that your character's affiliated with them. Supposedly, there's a rather large take, and our sponsor is currently thought to be the leader of one of the Five Nations, so your character could be joining out of simple greed, or a desire to have someone powerful owe you a favor (like some form of aid against your homeland's use of undead).
Second of all, my preferences:
If Edea were willing to play a wizard who specialized in something other than illusion, that might be nice: while beguilers are excellent for that and certain buffs, that's essentially what they're limited to, spell-wise.
I'm unsure about the Artificer, as I don't own the book that explains what Artificer does.
As for the Shifter Druid, that could be nice in the same way that the wizard could be; there are a lot of interesting druid spells, and they all are very different than the sorts of spells Quigley (our beguiler) has access to.
Lastly, RelentlessImp, I'd prefer that you play the Warforged Cleric, as it would have more spellcasting versatility than anything based on the Battle Sorcerer, and I lika da healz.
In all cases, please keep in mind that my character is only moderately optimized, so please don't twink out to the fullest extent possible.

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Artificers...need to be watched by/cooperate with the DM more closely than normal, but they do have incredible amounts of versatility and potential in the right environment. Wizard or druid's probably simpler...I might make a couple and see which one I like best.

You were all accepted into the game already without having characters...?
@sucrose: My character will be joining up because the faction he works for wants the cut of money/power. What are your character's personalities like?Look! It's me!

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Hello everyone!
Quigley's personality/brief backstory is at the bottom.
The inquisitor looks quite well done. (And he has the feat I should have taken! If I can survive to level 9, Pure Soul is mine! )
Edea, all of your character ideas are inherently too powerful, and have a high will save (Beguilers hate that). They simply won't do. If you want a powerful character without gamebreakingness, might I suggest a Monk? They're really quite good with their UMD, Diplomacy, and Leadership. We've been finding lots of partially-charged wands, too.
Relentless, either sounds good to me. The cleric would be a lifesaver in a HoH game (the initial one we had was the first to drop since GameTable/MapTool/etc wouldn't work for him), and a Warforged one sounds like it has a lot of character potential.

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Well, the nerve! XDDDD
Honestly, I'd probably be outfitting everybody as a collective benefit; I just like the idea of item creation as a class focus, and I've yet to be able to try the Warforged sublevels in an actual game (going to start working on that real soon; sorry if a sheet was required before posting :( )."Come play in the darkness with me."

To clarify... only the Colonel was accepted.
Edea and the other guy just felt like posting here. I really didn't have control over that; while it's nice that we have the whole party here now to work with you, I wish you'd have had a more concrete character idea.
As for Chronicled and Sucrose, triple-props for responding >.>
I hope to play this week. For real. No joking.
Hi, DF! How're you doing?!
Artificer is a crafter. Magical crafter.
...they're in the Eberron Campaign Setting. Artificers cast 'infusions' which improve your items, rather than casting Fireball.
Artificers are also wicked crafters.
I would love a divine caster... it would certainly help the inevitable taint that begins to manifest the day after you receive it, so that you don't know for sure when you get tainted.

I'm sorry about posting in here without a sheet :(.
Here is Bomb. I'm still working on his magic items/equipment from the previous parts of his career, feats, and his background. I might need some help with the last part. I'll edit the sheet link into a post on the other thread.Last edited by Edea; 2008-09-06 at 12:31 PM.

Re: Things That Go Squish in the Night (3.5 Heroes of Horror live)
Erm, whoops o_O. Yes, 6'7". XDDD.
Spoiler
Edit: As far as feats are concerned, I'm guessing Persistent will drive the DM crazy, so I'll avoid it (though Extend is both low-adjustment and very useful). I would like to inquire about the 'ok?' factor with regard to Item Familiars. Also, this character is support (hopefully Bufficer/eventual Golemficer); any wands or scrolls made should probably be at the suggestion of the rest of the party (so, tell me what you guys're lookin' fer). Definitely taking along a Dedicated Wright/Bag of Holding so I don't waste bunches of in-game time going back to town to craft things and so I can actually carry all this stuff. Are +skill items ok (not going for some +30 monster, just need help due to lower Cha)? Might also see what kind of Warforged components to grab (such as a Wand Sheath).
As for background, I'm thinking it'll go "Served as medic in the war/Cyre blew up/continued crafting armor and other items for clients/found that travelling and adventuring was more likely to earn him the gold necessary to hone his chosen profession/wound up with you guys." Also, he's been asked to appraise the value of things by his clients so much, that he's actually got a bit of an inherent knack for it, even though he was never officially trained in that skill (fluff points).

Oh, no. No, no, no.... we mustn't. To head down that path is to walk the way of the dead campaign. I've been in far too many PbP games that have slowed to a halt. IRC/Gametable is far superior--you can actually make progress in a campaign before you run into problems with people dropping out. And you can get a combat encounter over in 30 minutes instead of 30 days.

Actually, that was one of the primary draws (for me at least) to this particular game; I rarely see a non-PbP advertisement. Also, I did like Phantom's setup with regards to campaign crunch.
