Re: The Last Days of Askess
Although the archer manages to duck under Lyra's guisarme again, Rilan makes up for it by stabbing a sword through the back of another goblin.

Noah strikes at the last goblin in front of him with both blades.
SpoilerMy internet's acting up and I need to go to sleep. Mind rolling for me? If I kill him, I'll 5-foot step onto his square.

Ras continues running until he has a clear, uninterrupted shot at the archer, then stops, takes aim, and looses the bolt at his foe.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
SpoilerNo need for Phoerix to make his AoO. Lyra turned that poor guy into mush.
Lyra's guisarme cuts down the fleeing goblin as easily as it would cut through butter. As she brings it down upon the archer in the barge, he ducks for cover. It smashes into the side of the ship, leaving a tense silence. When she raises it up again, she can see that the goblin had just been caught by the blade, and was now laying motionless under a small pile of wooden splinters.
As you look over at the other side of the beach, you see the guards killing off the rest of the goblins. They aren't all dead, but those that are left are trying frantically to escape, and they aren't alone. A quick look into the bay shows that the remaining goblin ships are fleeing from the city. Their attack had failed, and the city stands without a scratch. You are victorious.
SpoilerYou each get 350 XP for the battle.[ There was a signature here. It's gone now. ]

Re: The Last Days of Askess
Lyra makes her way to a hobgoblin, her statue shrinking in size as she hustles. "That was too timely. They weren't prepared for siege, especially not of our fair city.."
With a delicate touch, her hand glows silver before she taps the temple of the last hobgoblin to fall. Provided the Hobgoblin shows signs of life.Last edited by Glyphic; 2008-10-09 at 08:30 PM.

The goblin's eyes spring open, and he looks around, until finally seeing Lyra standing over him. He quickly tries to get away, pushing his way through the sand, but he doesn't get very far. When he realizes that he can't escape, he begins chattering away in a language you don't recognize.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
Averi ceases his singing, satisfied that the battle was won. He walks to the hobgoblin with Lyra, watching as she heals him. "It does seem a bit convenient..." he mutters in Elven to himself.

Phoerix looks down at Lyra and the hobgoblin under her gaze, Yes, quite too convenient. Do we know how the locals are doing? Phoerix tries to look after the other group of soldiers. He moves behind the hobgoblin, keeping it between him and Lyra.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
Lyra smirks at her self, as she surveys the Hobgoblin, "Clearly, I should've thought this through more." Her eyes narrow on the hobgoblin, as a hawk does it's prey, "Slow yourself, for you stand here convicted. You will be treated commendably, as long as you cooperate."
Glancing about at the others, Lyra directs them, "Let's find a superior, and see what other commotion this festival brings."
With a silent motion, she tries to attract Rilan's attention.Lyra Corvis- Avy done by Mechafox(Thanks!)

Phoerix nudges the hobgoblin with his foot. That, and why they chose to do it. Our dear friends have hidden themselves, no doubt, inside the fort now, all nice and cozy with their target. Phoerix's faces darkens at this.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
Averi's brow furrows as he sorts through the junk on the barge. "Hey, Phoerix," he says, "I found some stuff." He holds up a pair of tanglefoot bags and a torch that burns with a heatless flame. He takes the time to take the flag down and observe it to see if he recognizes it.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
Phoerix's eyes light up, tremendously happy and exclaims 'Just don't have nothin' to say' or don't want to say? I've always wanted to try out that recipe Aunty Morgan gave me for hobgoblin stew, and it looks like I have the ingredients needed at last. Phoerix pauses and starts to put his hands out as if to measure the captive and weighing it. Aunty Morgan always did make the best stews back home. Phoerix murmurs to himself quietly. Unless of course there is something you have that would make missing a stew worthwhile....
SpoilerBluff check please, and kudos to anyone on who inspired Aunty Morgan ;)

With a few movements of her Guisarme, Lyra clears all weaponry from anywhere near the Hobgoblin, "Half amusing, half infuriating. Do you have a name, or clan?"
Glancing aside, Lyra notes Averi's touch, "That's.. misplaced. I do not believe Goblinoids require that particular tool."
She also frowns at Phoerix.Last edited by Glyphic; 2008-10-09 at 10:15 PM.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
Phoerix grins If this were torture, we'd be doing a pretty poor job of it wouldn't we. But the fact remains; I'm hungry. Phoerix walks over to Averi in the boat. Do they have any spices or any seasoning in here? Food rations aren't quite the most wonderful of foods, and we've been treated to feast this morning, until someone stopped us. Phoerix gives a quite pointed look to the hobgoblin.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
Ras lets out a whoop as the dust settles over the battlefield, cheering their victory. He places another bolt in his crossbow and walks over to where Phoerix and the others are interrogating the hobgoblin, remaining silent as he listens to his mentor make the usual threats involving stew and his Aunt Morgan. He keeps the crossbow loosely trained on the hobgoblin.

Re: The Last Days of Askess
The hobgoblin watches Phoerix, unimpressed by his threats, but keeps his mouth shut. However, more shouting tears his attention toward the steps leading to the pavilion. A small group of guards make their way down the steps and split up. Most of them head toward the other side of the beach, to meet up with their fellow soldiers, while three make their way toward your position. You recognize Darien as the one in front.
Once they get closer, he scans over everyone there. "What's the status here?" he asks to no one in particular.[ There was a signature here. It's gone now. ]
