DnD 4th Ed The 'Outsiders'

Nemeia easily dispatches her foe as Roghar moves into Position and Ark'al cleaves both his foes into shredded carcasses. Kiiya then swiftly moved into flanking position and stabbed her opponent before he had the chance to react.
The Odd Man than moves into position beside Kiiya firing a blast of Arcane energy from the top of his staff killing the Rabble in the doorway instantly.

Infuriated the sole survivors burst in to the tavern and strike at Ark'al, seeing him weakened, with only one blow landing true.

Roghar takes another step, and gives a signal to Kiiya. Right after that he swings his flail on the rabble between him and Ark'al.

Nemeia dashes to the wall and calls another curse down on the last rabble before flicking a shadow at him with her tail.

As Roghar steps in and draws the human's attention, Kiiya sees the small signal he makes and darts to the side.

She circles back around the fight, looking for an opportunity, and sees one. Darting in, she stabs again at the exposed back of the last human.

OOC: If the last rabble is still standing on Kiiya's turn, she will move back around to flank it with Roghar, and attack again with Piercing Strike,

Nemeia dispatches one a moment before Roghar defeats the last of the men leaving the 'Outsiders' standing in a tavern a mid a horde of dead bodies. They go the feeling it would not be wise to remain.
Hit staff once again hidden the Odd Man displayed a chipper tone and rubbing his hands together in slight excitement he said 'So how about those tunnels then?'

[Ifni]

Kiiya wipes off her blade on the clothes of one of her fallen opponents. Dagger still in hand, she nods to the Odd Man and says calmly, "Sounds like a plan. Were these Durran's guards, or just bigoted villagers?"
She moves back beside the door and peers out, her lavender eyes instantly adjusting to the darkness.

[Dhavaer]

Nemeia crosses the room and pokes at one of the dead men with the toe of her boot. "That was rather horrible. You'd think they'd flee when they realised they were losing."

[Malek]

- Perhaps they couldn't run. Or perhaps they were either to stupid or to dumb to realize they didn't have a chance - Roghar mused - Either way the man is right - we should get away fast, and keep our eyes open while doing so. They might have been a band of random drunkards, but personally I think it's too much of a coincident.

[TheLastMan]

'I'm guessing Durran didn't want to risk his guards just yet so he sent his most loyal drunken followers to us after he was tipped off to your arrival.I'll lead the way to the tunnel but I'm warning you it won't be as easy as this was.' As the Odd Man finished he held up a pearl white lantern and let it hang in the air with no support what so ever. It trailed behind him as he left striding down the street looking from side to side stopping in front of an abandoned residential building and kicking down the door.
Inside was a trap door hidden barely under some hay along with a stairs in the center and four doors on each side door. He shouts back out the door 'You guys coming?'

Ark followed the man down the door, looking around to make sure they weren't being followed.

...of course it won't be this easy...they were nothing special, just....fanatics, really....

Kiiya trails behind their guide, sticking close to the shadows, her dark leather armor blending into the night. She keeps her blade hidden beneath her cloak, so the flash of light on steel cannot give her away.

She notices Ark'al is walking with a slightly pained gait, and her eyes narrow. "Ark'al, are you all right? Did those scum injure you?"

Will light one of the torches unless the tunnels are lighted... which would be odd

No..no, I'm fine...it's just a flesh wound, I can't even feel it. Really.

Between the light of Roghar's torch and the Odd Man's floating lantern the entire room was illuminated. Slowly the odd man moved towards the trap door, seemingly to enter the cavern proper but at the creaking of the wood howls and screams filled the air from the doors encircling them and floors above. Banging could be heard as every door was pounded from the inside by creatures unknown.
'We should go before someone hears those things," the Odd Man pulled open the trap door as he spoke to reveal a winding stone staircase lined with books leading into darkness. Seemingly the entrance to the tunnels of which he spoke.

What do you do?

[Dhavaer]

"What's making the noises, and are they going to escape and come after us?"

[TheLastMan]

'Not a clue, I haven't been in here in a long time. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Durran put them here but apart from that I got nothing."

[Suzuro]

Let's just go before they get out, if they follow us, we'll deal with them...later!

"As you wish." Moving to the trapdoor, Kiiya inspects the first few steps and then peers down into the darkness, her eyes piercing the shadows as easily as broad daylight. She nods to Roghar and Ark'al, and gestures down the stairs. "After you?"

[Malek]

One sacriface to the gods of underworld, coming up... - Roghar laughed starting to go down the stairs then he paused - I think that with your sight you might be best suited as our rear-guard. Just in cease whatever made the noise comes back.

[Suzuro]

Ark began to move forward, hoping there was enough light to see by. Even with his vision, he still needed that pin prick of light...

Let's Go. is all he said as he went down.

Kiiya nods silently at Roghar's suggestion and waits for the rest of the party to enter the tunnels, then slinks after them. She tries to stay beyond the bright circle of light cast by the torch, feeling more comfortable in the shadows.

Nemeia trots down the stairs after Ark'al, tail writhing.

You are met by an unnatural obsidian tunnel as you reach the bottom of the staircase. The floor is flat and perfectly unmarked as if it was brand new. The walls are of a similar nature but curve in a more natural shape. Even with Roghar's torch and the Odd Man's floating lantern you do not see the end of the tunnel but you do see a door on either side of the tunnel half way from the edge of your light. The are both perfect obsidian circles with only small indents for handles.
The beings sealed in the building above you have grown silent.

What do you do?

From the door on your left you hear the sounds of what could be someone or something speaking Goblin. From the right you hear the sound of grinding gears.

[Ifni]

Kiiya

Kiiya looks to the group's odd guide for advice. "Do you know your way around here?" She keeps her voice low.

[TheLastMan]

"Last time I was down here was before half the town got wrecked and let me tell you this it looked more like a mine then than whatever it is now. I get the feeling he didn't exactly hire on labour to get this done. I'm guessing he's either laced the place with traps or mercenaries, probably both. You guys are supposed to be the great big adventurers." He said looking over at the others "Any ideas?"

[Dhavaer]

"We could scrag whatever's talking in the next room. So they can't sneak up behind us." Nemeia whispers.

[Malek]

Hmmm... On one hand combat could bring more enemies on our back, on the other you do have a point Nemeia. I'd like to hear out what others think, but unless someone else has an better idea I'd go for the combat - in the end it'll probably be better to take them openly than wait for ambushes. - Roghar whispers back.

[Suzuro]

Let's just krump 'em before they know we're here, and then they'll never bring more guards.. Ark puts in his advice.
