[Eternal Kanus]

Mederen stares at Halavan with a look of dull surprise as he fires a sphere of acid at the fleeing figure. "Well they're certainly foes NOW..." Mederen gestures with the power of the arcane, and a twirling mass of color appears above the creatures, attempting to draw in their focus and keep them at bay.

Surprise round:
Sae'lesh calls out to the creatures and delays to see their reaction.

Halavan breaks that immediately by launching a ball of acid towards the farther creature. It hits the ground next to it, hissing and splattering. The creature jumps and begins moving faster.

Mederen casts his spell, conjuring a mass of colour to attract their attention. All three ignore the spell however.

One of the creatues calls out "Stop the girl!" as the three charge out of the bushes. Their mottled flesh is mostly covered by loose robes, though their hands are warped into claws and fangs are visible in their mouths. The fourth starts running deeper into the forest. Two of them go towards Sae'lesh, while the third runs towards Vidra. Sae'lesh gets off one shot at the closer creature, hitting it in the chest and throwing off its charge. The other lunges at him, but he dodges at the last second. The third jumps at Vidra and manages to grab onto her. It scrambles to hold on.

No damage to anyone. The first two creatures are in melee with Sae'lesh. Creature 3 makes the touch attack to start grappling with Vidra. No attack of opportunity, as Vidra was flat-footed and hasn't drawn her weapon yet. luck_or_fate, make an opposed grapple check. Everyone give me actions for the first round of combat.

Despite being caught unaware, Hierot quickly composes himself. Welling up the soul power within him, he empowers his Arcane Focus and Wormtail belt to prepare himself for combat. Wanting to free Vidra, he quickly fires a frightful eldritch blast at the creature grappling with her, hoping to undermine it's bravery.

Ok, so basically I'm investing one essentia in my wormtail belt and one in my arcane focus, bringing my AC to 21 and adding +2 to my eldritch blast damage. I then attack the grappling monster with eldritch blast, tacking on the frightful ability to it. If the creature fails a will DC 17 it is shaken for 1 minute.

Mederen stares as the strange creatures shrug off his enchantment and charge his allies. "Goddammit..." Mederen glances ahead at the fleeing creature. "I don't think I'll be able to do much here. I'll hunt down the one that's running." He quickly chants a spell and runs after the last creature, avoiding the growing melee around his allies.

Sae'lesh takes a step back to give himself a little room to work his bow, then draws and fires two shots in quick succession at the creatures.

Halavan Turgoth

"You see? They have responded to my relatively harmless spell with violence, so they must have intended to assault us in any case, thus the issue of who attacked first is moot."

Halavan glowers at the retreating figure but scoffs loudly and focusses on the ones nearest to their group.

"Interesting, I've not seen the likes of you creatures and since you clearly don't like acid..."

Halavan does the same thing, cupping a ball of acid in his glowing gloves before launching it at the creature that Sae'lesh hadn't already feathered. Once the ball looses from his hands he skips back about ten feet.

Micheal hesitated, he wasn't sure if he really should be fighting these creatures, as even if they were acting suspiciously, they hadn't shown hostile intent before they attacked. None the less, he somehow doubted that it would make a difference if he actually participated or not, and that for his own safety, as well as those with him, it would be better if he did.
He was a bit worried about the one that was running away from them, if it escaped, it could bring reinforcements. Focusing, he concentrated and called forth vines from out of the ground to trap him, or at least slow it's progress. He and Lucia then moved forward towards the second creature that attacked Sae'lesh. Micheal drew his weapon as he did so, keeping just out of melee range, but Lucia closed in and attacked with a mighty bite.

Surprise Round:

Vidra (I'm assuming you're on horseback. Correct me if otherwise) raises one leg and kicks at the creature trying to grab her. It scrambles at her boot for a second before sliding off and landing next to her.

Round 1:

Halavan cups a ball of acid in his hand. Aiming, he launches it at the undamaged creature fighting Sae'lesh, hitting directly. The creature hisses as the acid eats through its side and deep into its body and it colapses to the ground.

Mederen sighs and casts his spell, chasing 30 ft. into the bushes after the fourth creature. He's standing about 20 ft. away from it now.

Vidra, I need your first round actions please.

Now that the creature was detached from her, Vidra was prepared to hurt it. She didn't like the fact that one of them shouted 'stop the girl' off the top; perhaps she shouldn't wear her loyalty on her shoulder. She held Petra's reins with one hand and drew her sword with the other, bringing it down on the thing.

Round 2 Continued:

Vidra draws her sword and swings down at the creature attacking her. She just barely hits it and opens a cut accross its chest. It hisses at her.

The first creature lunges at Sae'lesh, managing to grab him with one claw. It pulls him forward, snapping its teeth, but he pulls back, avoiding its bite. As he pulls back, its claw rips along his arm, opening a small cut. The other creature scambles uselessly against Vidra's armour. The fourth creature in the bushes runs another 30 ft. putting it 80 ft. away from the road. It's a lot harder to see now.

Sae'lesh backs up a step and opens fire on the injured creatures. The one in front of him takes an arrow to the face and its head snaps backwards as its body colapses to the ground. Turning, Sae'lesh fires at the creature that attacked Vidra, hitting and finishing that one off as well.

Micheal casts a spell, causing the bushes and grass to rise up and wrap around the last creature. It's caught off guard and tangled up, unable to move. Lucia stays next to him.

Sae'lesh takes one point of damage. All three of the attacking creatures are dropped this turn. The last creature is entangled. Hierot, what action do you want to take here?

<OOC> I'll just take the action I had done before, except with a move action towards the creature preceding the attack. I'd also like to deal nonlethal damage, so I'll take a -4 to that attack roll</OOC>

Edit: "I'll try to knock the last one out!" Hierot shouts to his companions, hoping that they will follow his lead. Carefully aiming to avoid any vitals, the warlock launches a deep purple, almost black, eldritch blast. The blast differs from it's normal appearance in that it crackles with bright blue soul-energy which seems to originate from Hierot's otherworldly necklace, and anyone who it passes experiences a momentarily sharp chill of dread.

Snorting in disgust as the creature has almost escaped through the forest, the evoker pulls a masterfully made crossbow from his side, fits a quarrel into it and sights down at the retreating creature.

"I'll settle for just bringing it down, myself. No reason to dull our attacks when it's getting away."

He pulls the trigger and a bolt leaps out towards the creature.

Heirot's blast hits the creature in the shoulder. It jolts forward, then starts struggling against its bonds again without any other reaction. Halavan fires his crossbow, but even though he hits, the bolt bounces off its skin.

Mederen advances close to the trapped creature, but keeps his distance. "See, Glowy has the right idea with subduing it instead of killing it." He quickly chants and gestures, forcing magical energy to overwhelm the enemy's mind to reduce it to unconciousness.

As Mederen carefully closes in on the final creature, he notices something about it. Despite its human appearance and ability to talk, there is no life in its eyes, just a burning evil. This creature is not alive.

"God damn..."Mederen stares in horror at the hideous creature before drawing his sword and shouting back at his teammates. "I guess the question of whether or not to kill it is somewhat of a moot point... Put it down. Swiftly. This... thing can't be allowed existence."

As far as I can tell I wouldn't be able to attack this turn, so I'm just drawing my shortsword.

Vidra frowned, looking over to Mederen and the tangled creature. She nudged Petra, moving towards them. That creature was subdued and fairly helpless. She shook her head slightly, though her sword was still drawn. Though it was indeed villanous, her oath prevented her from finishing the beast without it having a fighting chance.

Halavan rolls his eyes over-exaggeratingly and pops another bolt into the groove of his crossbow. After bringing it beneath his eyes he launches the bolt at the creature.

Sae'lesh hesitates for a moment, observing the others' discussion (and actions). He then makes a decision and looses another pair of arrows at the creature.

The little wizard walks up to the arrow-ridden corpse and begins inspecting it.

"I usually don't study undead due to their relative crudeness in comparison to other realms of study, but give me a moment..."

Using a stick he prods around at the creature, curling back it's lips to take a look at it's teeth and testing how tough the skin is.
