Maxwell hunkers down, automatically fixing his bayonet onto his rifle. He creeps forward through the rot, rifle aimed toward the caves. His eyes are distant, and his breathing labored.

I don't think that is needed, given the piles of decaying bodies. I'd say there are no predators down hear. Still, good to be prepared.

Croc Neidr

Croc takes out a small pad of sketching paper and a pencil once he reaches the bottom. He draws a rough outline of the back of the hole, and looks up toards the others.
"Let's be careful. It'd be pretty easy to get lost in all the caves, and we have no idea how long they go for."

"Then let's be off chaps!" Announced the Sergeant, strolling into the caves without a second thought.

Stumbling down the hole with the others he thinks to himself I knew this wasn't a good idea, I just new it. Why did I even bother coming down?

Quinny rushes after the Sargent, wiping her hands off as she trots. She places her ahnd on his shoulder, barely stopping the larger man, "Sargent! I'm all for exploring these caverns, but shouldn't we light a torch before it becomes, ya know, dark?"

The Sergeant paused. "Ah yes, quite, quite." He agreed somewhat. "How exactly are we going to make a torch young miss?" He said.

"Wait" blinks Quinny, "Isn't a Torch a flashlight to you? I don't know how to make those, or the other type of torch."

She points, rather pointlessly at the darkness beyond, "It's.. just dark in there."

"Well, yes, but I thought you meant one of those flaming torches you hear the explorers in books carry. Rather exciting I think!" The Sergeant looked into the dark of the gave. "Are you afraid of the dark my dear?"

Quinn rummages through his pack and finds his flashlight, he clicks it on and has a look down the dark cave; We went to the jungle and no one thought to bring a flashlight except me? Well prepared!

OOC: I'm back. Damn, that was a busy week. I'm sorry, I put all my games on halt for this past week, things have been crazy. I'll resume it tonight, I wouldn't let you guys down.

As the expedition team readies their various instruments of light, flicking on flashlights and igniting lighters, a eerie rasp sounds from the caves, echoing around the bottom of the sinkhole.

It is a reptilian noise, like a dozens of giant snakes hissing in anticipation...

Flashes of movements are detected amongst the forests of rot, behind rib cages sticking out of the ground and behind the light jungle covering.

"Hmmmm...." Said the Sergeant. "Sounds like trouble in these caves, what-what! Best be prepaired for anything chaps!" He said as he removed his pistol from its holster and took point, heading further inside the caves.

It's like clearing out a trench system. Crappy work but better than running out into no-man's land. Maxwell follows close behind, back to the Sergeant as he keeps his rifle pointed at the strange noises.

OOC: Just to let you know, December is a very busy month for me. I got a seasonal job as a chocolates warehouse guy, so the Christmas season is very busy indeed. It's crazy awesome pay for lifting boxes and the like, so I'm working a fair number of hours, not to mention the seasonal fits of holiday debauchery and school. My games will probably slow down, so I'd like to warn all you guys first of all.

A cry rings out from the caves, a strange quivering screech, halfway between the noise of a motor blade and the noise of someone vomiting.

At least a dozen shapes burst out of the undergrowth, carrion, and caves. They are bipedal things with heavily muscled legs, two clawed arms, a long narrow jar lined with small but numerous teeth, and slick skin which glistens in the sun with moisture. A paleontologist would identify them as some sort of raptor, but no one in the expeditionary force, not even Joseph Arronson, is aware of what they could be.

Whatever they are, if they aren't downed within the next few seconds, they'll be at the throats of the expedition.

OOC: I really don't want this to die, but feel that at its current state it just isn't doing much for either the players or me. Tell me if I'm wrong. I do have an idea to breathe more life into this though. Several ideas, actually. If anyone's up for a rather drastic switch but staying in the same game world, let me know. Who's with me?

Quinn looks horrified at these strange.. things, he takes a few steps back before fumbling for his machete and looking for the closest one of the raptors.
If there is one close by, Quinn will swing for it.
