"Great musician?" Dayo raises an eyebrow, then laughed, his skin turning yellow. "My father created the Truesong! Oh, you would love him, you would. He created the dragons, you know, and he helps many people." Dayo glanced around quickly, then a flute appeared in his hands. "I play the music too! Would you like to hear some?"

Yen grinned as he watched the carnage. All his people had tried to do was extend a hand to the creatures. Oh well.

"So you want to stop suffering? I bet you those you just killed are hurt Oh Brother Flame. Is that alright?"

Yen said to no one in particular.

    Cryala

Saddened that Lyarin was adamant to not changing, yet it was his nature to do so. She wept at his refusal to change and experience the joy that she had. But there would be time. There would always be time.

She noted the message and found the Road. There she walked seven steps for every one, before she appeared before Yen, her legs dusty from the road. She nodded in respect to the sun and moon, wondering if they heard her tale and desired to punish her or make her their bride.

Her hair tied under her brown cloth, the tiny wings on her sandals fluttering, she stood respectfully before the three older gods. "I am hearing you have a story."

    Yen: The Midnight Carnival

Yen beamed, giving a low bow as he takes a step out of his personal chambers

"I do! I really do! A -very- interesting story indeed! You see. The Sun and moon kissed and made up. And the world shaked in its wake, the sky grew black and beasts of flesh and fur burst forth from the land that refused to change.

But the story dosn't end there. After that, the land shaked more, and from the divine conflict…from that which can not change and that which demands change the world was rent in two. And more gods were born to sooth the hurt of the mountains. And peace was restored. For a time.

And even further on from that point of history. People began to band together, to fight against the suffering of the world, and those that would seek to end such harm. In the end, the world’s creatures all lived and died on this precious and interesting balance.

But…there were those who found this simply unacceptable. And sought to undermine the tenoius peace. They did it from within, and they did it as enemies from without. And the mortal world soon followed suit. Races found fault with one another. And they found fault with themselves. And so they mimicked the grand warriors of this wide existence, and mirrored the combat with fist and stone!”

Yen took a seat, his robes forming in the air craddling him

"There are two sides to everything. Those that destroy. And those that create ya! But the battles cast light where ever they go!And its in that light that others, creatures that care not of either force are born. If everything must live and everything must die, it is only a simple fact that there are flowers that seek to be, nothing more and nothing less. And even then, there will be those that want to take over all other things, to prove they existed. That’s the way of things you see. But anything that’s held can be taken, the end result is not the most important part of any story! You understand ya?!”

Yen leaps up, spinning in the air and facing Cryala upside down.

“But there are gods that don’t get that! Some don’t want the story to change. No matter their intentions they simply refuse to let things learn from harm, or learn from help. And there are those that are so occupied by their own struggles that they let others slide between then long enough to make their story split in a thousand directions. And then there are those who simply stop walking. They find that the road is its own experience, but sometimes others wonder about them. They ask themselves “Do those people know that endings are good? That they mean that another journey can start!” They ask themselves that, they really do. Isn’t that interesting?”

    Dayo, The Great Forest

Dayo nodded. "I suppose you want to loose as quickly as possible!" He grinned widely, obviously joking. And with that he withdrew another intrument from his pack, an instrument of copper, tubes and valves, with an opening like an outturned bell. He set it besides him on a treebranch, then lifted his flute to his lips. With the slightest breath from his lips, the flute rang with song: A single high note flying over the trees and landscape. His fingers shifted silently, with surprising dexterity for one so encumbered by scales and nails. Slowly and softly the tune came down, hovering at a low hum.

The pace of the music set in, and his fingers slowly placed themselves from note to note as a soaring melody appeared, set of three notes reppeating and rearranging even as the volume rose. His fingers now clacked against the metal of the instrument, but for purpose: to provide a beat. As the vibrancy of the flute threatened to break it's soft nature, the music faded, and the instrument itself transformed from metal to wood.

It vibrancy became low and natural, emotional and melancholic, it's low patterns vibranting back off the wood in monotone as he slowly worked his way up and down, breaking off as he would reach the higher notes, whipping away at the air. The beat was slowly and sure, and as he played the clouds themselves broke into rain above them, the sounds of the water-drops dripping onto the green leaves perfectly in sinc with his panflute. And even as the rain was dying, he took the panflute from his lips, it's sounds still vibrating from the trees, and sang:

"'Neath the windows of the stars,
You will find the night is far,
And takes you places you have been,
    Places lost to broken sin."

He lifted his panflute again to his lips, a simple tune of falling notes renewing the woods vibrancy.

"'Neath the windows of the stars,
You will find the night is far,
    Broken lullabies are sung,
And dreams in high places have been hung."

His panflute played a final note, which faded away to fill the eventual nothingness.

"Usually, stories refuse to name names to save another from embarassment, or to teach a lesson to the perceptive. If the target is truly dull, it may simply be to make an even better joke. The mighty are not infalliable, and humility reminds us of things larger than ourselves. But there are as many reasons as there are thoughts, and as many metaphors as there are breaths."

Rendirllyn clapped in earnest appreciation once the song had finished. "That was very good. Your father taught you well. But allow me to answer."

He brought his own flute to his lips. It was rough compared to the intricate beuty of Dayo's instruments, a single shaft of wood hollowed out with holes in the right places. He placed his fingers carefully on the holes, and blew a single, pure note. The wind answered him, rustling through the leaves of the trees in counterpoint. He gradually wove more notes into the tone, modulating it until it was a tune.

From somewhere in the forest, a wolf howled, its voice harmonising with the notes by some fluke. Its voice was joined by the rest of its pack, a mournful sound in a minor key, the haunting notes of the wooden flute weaving in, out, through and around the packsong.
The wolves fell silent, as Rendirllyn picked up the tempo a little. He modulated smoothly into a major key, and the clouds parted, allowing a brilliant shaft of sunlight to pierce the foliage, dappling the ground below with golden light.

A deer stepping through the forest below trod on a stick, snapping it with a staccato shot. Evidently it was moving through thick undergrowth, because another snap rang out, then another, keeping time with the music - or was the music keeping time with the snaps?

Rendirllyn started to tap his foot against the branch, as the music became livelier and livelier. Birds called out from a nearby tree - but birdsong didn't normally have a distinguishable melody to it. This did, somehow, providing a descant harmony to the reel. By this point he beat was fast and infectious, Rendirllyn tapping out a jig on the branch. The beat was taken up by drums in the distance, each drummer adding embellishments to the basic beat. The Fey had heard the divine music and had joined in.

A herd of horses galloped down a trail, hooves thundering. A bear sharpened its claws rhythmically on a tree. Rendirllyn was playing in concert with the entire forest, and as he stepped off he branch to drop lightly to the ground, Fey emerged from the woods around, dancing to the beat, clapping and stamping their feet. Some brought pipes of their own which they played, some brought drums, and some were just content to let their bodies move, twist and whirl with the music. Finally, Rendirllyn blew a long trill on the flute, the drummers pounded out three quick beats, and the woods fell silent once more.

She takes the scenic route, the hair leaving behind on the path, yet she never runs out of the delicate strands. Finally, she reaches Wanderhome, which true to it's nature had moved again. This time, it was actually behind a waterfall. The sound of the falls was deafening. That being said, the hair still marked the path.

Cryala wondered how many curious souls it would ensnare.

Lyarin watched, unable to aid his children as they became monsters. He returned to the godforge, and with the shadowkin in mind, wrought. He built his child out of raw world-stuff. The creature looked much like the shadowkin, but is seemed to shimmer a little. The world-stuff had absorbed perhaps a little too much of the Lord of Entropy's energy. The skin was vaguely silvery, and the shoulders were perhaps a little heavier set. It was still a shadowkin he decided, but it would do. He breathed life into the mannequin, and set it among his people. Lyarin opened a portal and stepped through it.

The five stood over the holes in the ground. They were draped in coats of down, and armed with sticks that had spade-shaped shell on a single end.

The one who stood alone pointed at the holes and then shoved his stick into the ground, and used that bit of shell to scoop the tundra away, throwing it over his shoulder.

The others nodded in comprehension and followed suit.
It took them so long to get through the surface, the evil eyes in the sky passed several times.

Once the frozen Tundra was uncovered, the soil beneath was very moist and easy for the five to tunnel through. They eventually managed to knock away enough soil to reveal an enormous clearing.

In the cavernous area, there were rivers of glowing red speckled with blackness that streamed everywhere, and the dwarves rejoiced -- they would no longer need to fear the cold, for the right here in front of them lay all the heat they should ever need. Even the rocks that surrounded them carried heat, and they could feel it as they entered the

Overwhelmed by curiosity, they rushed up to the rivers, and the one who stood alone reached out and touched what he perceived to be pure warmth. His index finger was enveloped by the viscous liquid and he immediately yanked it out, howling in pain. He cradled the injured finger, wailing malevolently, as a steady stream of something reddish spilled from his finger.

One of the females, one who had a rather large belly, took him by the hand and rushed him to the entrance. She pressed his finger against one of the hot rocks. He howled out in pain, but the tip of his index finger was sealed off, and the fluid flowed forth no more.

Ataraxis blinked profusely. "...They're even smarter than I...I did not give them enough credit. How did she know to...?" He shook his head, and bore a huge grin, befitting a proud father. "Of course. Of course she knew what to do. They're the perfect race, my Dwarves. With only a few more steps, they'll become completely self-sufficient, I know it." Almost completely smitten with his Dwarves, he barely noticed a path of gold strands.

    Ataraxis looked at the strands.

He looked back to the Dwarves, then back to the strands.

He tapped his foot, looking back and for the between the two and grimaced. "This will only take a moment, my children...I have something to...uh...investigate."

With a giddy chuckle, Ataraxis almost bowed to the Dwarves, as he began slinking away in a direction that was suspiciously parallel to the path of golden strands...

"Okay, okay, I'll admit defeat!" Said Dayo, tumbling backwards on the branch. He Grabbed hold up it with the talons on his feet, and hung, grinning and laughing wildly. "My father is Ishtar, lord of the Flame- I can take you to him anytime you like!"

And then Dayo looked down to the playing Fey, and to the bag in his hand. "Oh! I almost forgot! Those are your subjects, yes?"
