Re: Galactic CrossFire - Peace/War? Victory either Way!
Meeting of the Minds.
Sorcerer?
Sigran's ears prick up.
Most interesting, Master Antara. As you share either a name or title with this Carluda, might I take it that you too practice the art?

Re: Galactic CrossFire - Peace/War? Victory either Way!
The Two Sorcerers
Antara Dr'ysthen nods. "You are correct - I am the last of the great Antaran sorcerers, and one of the last to actually practice the art as it was meant to be wielded. And just between the two of us, you can call me Dr'ysthen."
The Two Captains
"Hmmm." Tatheran strokes his chin, pondering. "I believe I can "lend" you a datapad, but it's written in Khal and Vela - Khal is a pictograph language, while Vela can take years to read correctly - it's a flowing, graceful language with nuance in every word. In contrast, Aetheri is easy to learn."

Re: Galactic CrossFire - Peace/War? Victory either Way!
The Two Sorcerers
Well, irrespective of the results of the meeting, it's good indeed to meet a fellow of the art, Master Dr'ysthen.
I'm not certain how our arts relate, but there are many Sorcerers amongst my people. We respect skill in the Art, a skill we all posses to degrees, and that is one of the prime criteria for holding government office.
I confess though, we've never met a Sorcerer of another species before. This is... most interesting...
The Two Captains
Drake smiles
We have working translations already. Courtesy of the prisoners taken at Kil'rath.
Still, our specialized texts are the best. Anything in perticular you wished to learn about us?

The Two Sorcerers
Dr'ysthen shakes his head sadly. "The art was lost years ago by my people - I'm one of the few that keeps it living. Me and Mych'aell - last of the great Antarans. Which of the eight spheres do you cast from?"
The Two Captains
"Well, just the general psychology of your people and your general history. I'm just looking for a greater insight on your interesting culture. Where the Aetheri Aether comes from..." He grins wryly. "Why you're so stubborn..."

Re: Galactic CrossFire - Peace/War? Victory either Way!
The Two Sorcerers
Spheres?
Sigran looks thoughtful
Aetheri magic is divided into three, broad categories, based on the gods. Within those, there is much scope for varying effects.
Well, that's the first difference between us, and our arts.. He laughs, a little.
The Two Captains
Well, if you want explanation of where the Aether comes from, books can only get you so far. You should ask a scholar. Preferably one specializing in Guardian history and culture. It's a long story.
And of course we're stubborn. We know the god's will.
He's smiling though, only half serious.Last edited by Moral Wiz; 2009-01-05 at 01:01 PM.

Sigran chuckles at this
An interesting threat, Miss Fang. But a void one
He smiles, as he continues, lightly, and matter of factly
You're an agent of the Goh leadership. They are in negotiations with both the Khal and the Aetheri. I am a leader of the Aetheri. If anything happens to me, it will be known, and your superiors... would not be happy, correct?

Dr'ysthen snorts. "Was I not going fast enough for you? Ayrren!" His rod glows slightly, before fading again. His steps become light and fast, speeding up. A slight wind follows his stride, and he quickly overtakes Fang.

The guards knew you. You offer to escort these people to the palace. You are an agent of the Empire's leadership
You may have free reign, but you still serve. Lighter chains, but they're still there, Miss Fang.
At that, he in turn speeded up. Not a lot, but just enough to keep it hard for Kara to speak to him. He walks over to the object she points at
What, this?
SpoilerRight place, right time. He stands in a blind spot to the main force of the bomb.

Oh, we all have chains, Miss Fang. That is a foolish statement.
You don't sound like the most moral sort. But you are a product of your society. If something threatened it, and you, would you not attempt to defend your civilization, and yourself?

Re: Galactic CrossFire - Peace/War? Victory either Way!
The Two Sorcerers
Dr'ysthen is silent, only chuckling as Fang tries to defend her chaotic existence. He strode past her into the hall without a word, but Mych'aell mutters, "Good riddance."
"Thank you for your conversation, sorcerer. May thy spells be true and full of power." Dr'ysthen strode down the hall, Mych'aell loping behind. On the other end of the hall, Tichan's eyes widened. "Antara Dr'ysthen? He must have..." With a quick stride, Dr'ysthen stood before Tichan in moments. "Good evening, Tichan. May we speak in private for a moment? The tomb was were we believed it would be, and it was much more fruitful than we imagined."
Tichan rose, and Dr'ysthen followed him, Mych'aell grinning and taking the book out of his coat. He handed it to Dr'ysthen, who held it out for Tichan to see. "By the New Gods, is this...? No, it couldn't be!" Dr'ysthen clacked his beak in amusement. "Oh yes. The Tome of Antara Carluda. There are over a thousand spells in here, lost for aeons and requiring deciphering and research. However, Mych'aell and I were working on one such spell as we came here, famously depicted in Carluda's seal and on the cover of his tome." Tichan stared in disbelief. "Carluda's Chain?? The infamous spell of The Thousand-Fold Warrior?" "Yes, and with an overwhelming aura of order. I've been doing some experimentation with the dangerous Rune of the Beast. I think... it might be possible to combine the two. Imagine - a band of warriors, bound together by ties made of strongest magic, with the power of the wild beast. We need some more time to research it, but it's certainly possible." "Amazing. However, I have a new task for you now. There is a death zone in the Pederion Rift, emitting lethal radiation to all who enter. I wish you to use both your magic and the Schtyark project's completed product to enter the zone and disable it. Understood?" Dr'ysthen nodded, bowing his wings low in the customary gesture of submission. "As my Kaharach commands." Mych'aell grinned. "Sounds like fun. Happy we could help, Kaharach."
Tichan returned to his seat, as Antara Dr'ysthen and Mych'aell took a seat and began to sate their hunger.
The Two Captains
"I think that the Emperor of the Goh and the Aetheri will leave disappointed that they could not force the Khal to peace. War will start again, and everything will return to normal. Of course, with the Fraonite here, and the Goh Emperor sitting in his own hall, the Khal refusal may break out into open bloodshed. Of course, the Khal have their Kaharach, a battalion of Kharlong, Captain Tatheran - and the Last of the Antarans, it would seem. If there is battle this night, it is obvious who the victor would be."

Sigran took his time in assuming his seat. In concequence, he managed to sit next to Dr'ysthen and Mych'aell. He smiles gently at them
Kaharach Tichan appreciates whatever magic you found?
The Two Captains
The Aetheri have a group of sorcerers and magi, two of the Most High, our greatest mustocs Inquisitor Lord Drake,
And lest we forget, the High Chosen. She's just as good as the Old Man, and the most powerful magic user in the room by a massive margin. The battle would be far from decided.
Still, let us see. Who knows? The Schemer herself couldn't predict what's going on here.

Mych'aell grinned at him. "Oh, greatly. It's a veritable mine of magical theory, ancient spells and the knowledge of the greatest Khal mage to ever live. It's written in Old Khal, so it'll take some deciphering, but we should have some interesting results..."
Dr'ysthen nodded. "He has some sorcerous skill himself, and he was amazed by one of the legendary spells we've deciphered."
The Two Captains
Tatheran refilled his glass, mixing two different juices into his drink. "Well now. That's very interesting. I was not aware that the High Chosen herself was here. I believed that she had simply sent a diplomat in her stead." His grin is wider than usual.
