    Default Book Request / Suggestion

I am reading #779 and am happy to see Niu and Thanh back in action.

    Which led me to thinking.

We are probably going to see the story line again, when our characters go back to Azure City and liberate the place.

HOWEVER, there are probably dozens, if not hundreds of strips that could be made between that time and the time our heroes left Azure City in the first place.

It occurs to me one could make a decent companion book out of that, much like Start of Darkness or Origin of the PCs.

And if such a companion book were to be made, I would be willing to purchase it.

    Respectfully,

    Brian P.

I would as well, although the Giant might have some other stuff to do right now. But if he ever wants to make another short book that's a good idea.

One idea that's occurred to me was that he could do like a normal-length book with nothing but deleted/extra/bonus scenes. Sort of like a collection of loose ends. Each section could be about as long as each 'round' in the more recent two books, and could be introduced with a page detailing where this takes place, and why it wasn't in the main story to begin with. It wouldn't need a plot at all, but it might be nice to have just a few more glimpses of, say, Hinjo when he was younger, or Roy at a class at Bash U, or Haley's earlier escapades with the Thieves' Guild.
Not sure if there's any merit to the suggestion, but (and all of this is most likely moot, since Rich knows what he's doing and probably wants to stay above the rabble of the forums) it's something I'd want to get, and the Azure City post-OotS story would fit in well.

Surely in all cases that would be "because Rich hadn't written it at the time"?

I very much doubt if Rich is currently looking for suggestions for new side projects.

I'm sure he could make hundreds of strips about retaking Azure City. But if he does it before finishing the main story, that would take time out from telling that. If he does it afterwards, that would imply that he's run out of inspiration for new stories to tell. And that's not something I want to see.

I think the best we can really hope for is maybe a few online strips when appropriate, and a few more bonus strips in some future book. Beyond that - well, I wouldn't get your hopes up. There's only so many hours a man can spend drawing.

Zombie animators , draftsmen, etc. will solve the problem :). I've been tempted to make a short comic strip where a Xykon-parody kills off and zombifies the entire staff of marvel comics in order to get his strips pushed out as part of a world-domination scheme. They still push out the standard comics, of course, but the fact that the animators of marvel are now mindless undead has no impact on the quality of the comics. Certainly not on the storylines.

Why I haven't I? 'Cause I've got no artistic talent whatsoever. Well .. not at drawing anyway. :)

    Tongue-in-cheek,

    Brian P.

So do what others have done and make a comic out of lego.

    http://www.legostargalactica.net/

course, I'm not particularly a fan of either of those. Too pun heavy.

The Giant writes what he wants. He doesn't take requests, and he doesn't follow suggestions.

However, I have no doubt that the action will go back to the Azure city resistance sooner or later.

My money is on sooner, like perhaps the next strip.

Really? I hope not. For crying out loud the arena battle is just getting started. Delay it any longer and I'm going to go insane.

Don't worry, plenty of people were convinced we were going to branch off into an O-Chul and Lien arc when #709 came out. We'll be back on the Western Continent next strip.

Agreed. This strip is called the Order of the Stick, so storylines that do not, in some way, involve the Order will not be pursued in the main strip.

The possible Revolution of Gobtopia is relevant to Redcloak and Hinjo, but not the Order, so it will not be granted screentime, but (as this topic suggests) may show up in its own book.

I dunno, rich uses the last panel to change PoV a lot. Just because it didn't go to O'Chul, it was still a PoV change. On the other hand..strip 800 is approaching.

And conversely, there's plenty of instances where a last panel POV change has NOT resulted in the next strip going there.

And honestly, this would be the absolute worst possible location for a cutaway in the history of storytelling ever. (end hyperbole)

Why on earth would he be building up to this arena battle and then just cut away mid battle for meaningless rebellion maneuvering that isn't exactly time sensitive? Notice how most cutaways occur when time is passing for the main story. Cutting away mid major plot point for a minor one is just plain horrible storytelling.

Yep, that's my point exactly. Which has thankfully been proven right by the current strip.
