So, a couple of days ago a politician which was recently involved in a sexual scandal gave an interview. This spawned a huge amount of replies and comments which were... well, kind of ignorant and disgusting.
I won't go into details, I will just sum up what everyone does here.:
1) in Italy nobody except transgender people and people which have been bashed about it, like, in the last 30 minutes, uses the right pronouns
2) the concept of FtM is completely alien to Italian people
3) the word "transexual", in common Italian, means "transexual prostitute"

Every article I read on the matter, except the ones from LGBT groups, was transphobic (some of them by accident, but still). Every single person I know is at least borderline transphobic.

As someone that for some reason deeply emphatizes with the struggle of transgender people, My blood is almost literally boiling because of this. It's...

I'm sorry. I'm really sorry I can do so little to change this situation. I apologize on behalf of Italian people.

ANYWAYS, I have a question for y'all, and I think it's on-topic as it does involve my passing as a girl in public. I'm going to an anime convention in April, and I want to cosplay as humanized Fluttershy. It would help a lot if I could appear shorter than I actually am, because of the character's nature, and was wondering if y'all had any tips for looking shorter? (For the record, I'm 6' 6", with an exceptionally long torso.)

Granted, they are always hyper and curious. But they seemed quite understanding and not at all phobic when interviewing a FTM boy.

Well, some of my friends have told me there is precedent to her being tall, including her being one of the older ponies and her brief stint as a successful model. So maybe just a little bit of posture and some good acting? And a lot of sitting.

It's all about presentation and confidence. So you've really gotta sell the lack of confidence without actually lacking confidence.

Yeah I called the Gender Identity clinic today and asked about if they had gotton into contact with my local GP about it, and they said it should be done in the next week or two.
So im making an appointment with the GP in two/three weeks and hopefully ill start on hormones ^^

Mine had a tumor in her brain that we knew absolutely nothing about until she went into respiratory arrest. Took me so long to get over that (wait, I'm not over it) and I am so sorry for Nix and golentan and anyone else who's lost a pet dear friend and family member. (My other cat is fifteen and has a failing kidney. Not doing so well in the kitty front right now. )

On the other hand, yay for Fay! (Who I don't know. Nice t' meetcha!) Congrats and I hope everything works out well for you!

Hey guys, first off *hugs* all around

Secondly, I want to thank all of you guys so much, this thread has become sort of a happy-place for me the past few months. I have known that I am gay for about 3 years know with not really accepting it until about a year and a half ago. After that things became easier and harder at the same time. I found some aspect of inner peace most days which is nice, but there are days that I just feel so alone, so for the past few months I have silently read the posts here and it has given me a proxy sense of community which really helps on bad days. I have also been struggling with coming out even via internet and as of this post only 2 people know, my now former student council adviser who has been extremely awesome at being there for me, and a girl that I honestly thought I could have a *normal* relationship with, and in the end respected her too much to give her anything but the truth. I tried coming out to a few trusted friends but they thought I was joking, seeing as that type of behavior is quite common in our group. Every opportune moment I get to come out to someone that I trust I get overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty and decide not to say anything which in the end feel really ashamed about. Now I am off to College to hopefully make a fresh start.

And to start of this fresh start I have decided to start getting involved here, hoping that it will give me the strength to carry it over to my life. So once again thank you guys so much for helping me without you even realizing, just think of everyone like me, who is too scared to post, but whom you still make an enormous impact on their lives, and so with that I say hello and I really am looking forward to getting to know you wonderful people

I feel like I'm in a sorta similar situation, the only person I'm sorta out to is my student counselor. Do you know your friends' opinions on the matter? Otherwise carefully bringing the topic up in conversation might help you find out a bit more, and take away some of your fears / uncertainties.

First off *hug*. Welcome. :) I am very new to this and unfortunately have no advice, but lots of support. Fortunately, there are some really wonderful people here who actually have something of value to add. If you need a good ear though, I'm happy to listen. :)
